The first detail I encountered that told me this game was serious was when I was chasing this small animal; the thing just dropped dead, I didn't know what happened. Then it got up and took off running again... It was an opossum... Playing dead... Blew my mind.

The detail that made me fall in love with the game is the fact that you actually WALK up stairs. One at a time. Like an actual person. It's something so simple, yet makes all the difference. It is a labor of love and a WORK OF ART - art not just being in the form of words of images, although Red Dead Redemption 2 has those, of course. Art in the respect that it has done with a computer what was only previously possible with specialist software programs in a much more limited fashion. The RDR2 world is believable and therefore incredibly immersive. You FEEL as if you are actually there if you play for long enough.

@@lordmuhehe4605 I haven't followed the development of RDR2, so you may be right. But even if, crunching at least had to be somewhat limited with this project compared to other games, meaning, they weren't as ridiculously restricted with their time as many other developers are, who weren't even given enough time to offer a finalized base game. If details like those are part of a game, at some point the developers had the time to do it, maybe they were honestly so passionated about it, that they added it by themselfes, maybe in a bit of free time, who knows. If they needed to be crunching all the time, special details would have not made the cut. Still, crunching is a modern plague and shouldn't be there, but you know, greed 'n shit......... Publishers would still make serious money, if they let the developers work 3 months longer on a game, but no, need to squeeze any theoretical penny out of this thing. I mean, there's got to be a reason, why Nintendo games usually remain very loved and highly bought for many years - because they are done properly and people usually keep hearing good things about them. If only other publishers would adapt this model........

I'd say the best encounter I ever came across was when I rescued some guy on the side of the road who had a bad injury. Brought him to Saint Denis and brought him into the Doctors place. He had me set him into a chair where he looked over him for a bit and gave him something to knock him out. He then discussed with me the issue, which lead to him needing to amputate the arm. He informed me he'd be taken care of and that I could leave... but I stayed and literally watched this doctor saw this dudes arm off, take a couple breathers in between before tossing the arm into a bucket and wrapping the injured arm up afterward.

I particularly enjoyed this encounter as well - so much so, I used the in-game “Photo Mode” to take multiple pictures of the doctor sawing off his arm. Then, to end up seeing him later on being hanged and missing his arm? Of course, I had to walk up to him right before they dropped the noose and antagonize him. Afterwards, I had a conversation with the cops who completed the hanging talking to them about how I had helped that man before, and didn’t realize I should have left him to die on the side of the road. On the next play through of the game I did, when I came across him, I hopped off my horse and immediately proceeded to shoot the fucker in the head - he didn’t deserve to live.
