Every writer for the Superman has made him accomplish insane feats that it would probably need Goku to achieve Sun Wukong level to actually beat him. I did prefer this one compared to the first two because both showed great respect to one another and created a friendly rivalry compared to all the intense biased fans we have in real life

True. He was meant to confront the darkest aspects of human tendencies and comfort the vulnerable while providing an example of one way we could better ourselves. The idea that "Superman's an ideal, not a character" as DB mentioned in a previous battle is accurate, ultimately Superman is really just an embodiment of that hope on the horizon we're always looking towards.

I mean, well written Superman comics aren’t really about him just physically beating villains. People who say he’s boring really miss the point. Perfect example being All-Star Superman.

Finally Death Battle gets a 100 percent accurate battle. Earth prime Superman definitely beats Goku every time, and they are also right that Goku beats more versions of Superman than not. Authorial intent is the most important factor in understanding characters in his view, and the story is what decides their fate. The concept of vs battles often discards *intent* of the author and replace storytelling with real world physics to try and create outcomes, which is well and good but by that point is it really even the same character anymore? If you're plugging them into a context they weren't created with in mind and binding them to it. Feats in stories aren't usually mean to be a completely objective measuring stick, but more to convey an idea of ability and scale. It wasn't until relatively recently you started getting authors specifically creating characters to win vs battles and frankly I think that's pretty sad.

I think the one main thing that is completely overlooked, is stamina between Superman and Goku. Superman gets tired quickly IF he amps up his eye beams vs Goku, lets be real, Goku will be tired waaay before Superman. So, in other words, Superman would've won or eventually win regardless. Even if somehow the fight dragged out, Superman would win.

In relative time Superman spend 50 thousand years flying from the dead planet to the far away star in the dark dimension during the universe forger fight. This means his reserves of power are at least enough for 50,000 years. Add to that the fact that as stated he fought against God tier demons for 1,000 years without a second of rest or respite. Yeah no, Even if they were at the same power level Goku would lose because of the sheer effectively infinite stamina of Superman.

Everyone is calling Superman "Broken" but can't see how broken Goku is. Lemme explain: Goku was created in 1985 and only has 38 years in development. had Goku been created back in 1938, he'd be THIS strong in 1976. That would still leave 47 YEARS of development to get to 2023... imagine how strong he'd be then...

Yes Goku has trained since birth, but that only helps him in terms of skill, which Goku clearly outmatches Superman in, but Superman has been alive for literally 1,000's of years. He not only has more overall feats than Goku, but also has fought extremely powerful beings more often than Goku has. There's no character in the DBZ universe that Superman wouldn't be able to defeat, and there's no feat of Goku's that would be impossible for him either. Goku can't travel at the speed of infinity, Goku can't time travel, Goku can't resist being atomized, Goku has been killed by FAR lesser attacks than what it takes to kill Superman. I say all of this as someone who hates Superman, but the unfortunate truth is that Goku wouldn't be able to defeat this version of Superman. He'd fight hard, but ultimately nothing he can do would significantly affect Superman.

All the versions of Superman (cannon) have all been fused and combined with the new current Superman so he now has all of those feats

This is one of few times Superman didnt have to hold back and really fight. That is really the reason he enjoyed fighting Goku. And Goku saw this the opportunity to fight someone stronger than him so Goku can keep learning and get stronger himself.

I love how they ignored the explanation before the fight then proceed to question everything. For me personally, I didn't care who won this time. I just love how the end was more wholesome rather than the usual endings DB had. I also find it funny how other people say ''cap'' or ''dude's biased''. Clearly those people haven't read or heard of Superman before but overall great video from DB!

The funny thing about the goku vs superman debate is that Goku fans are mad that Goku can't beat Superman, yet their anime argument is that nobody else can beat Goku.

Superman is written into his stories to be the good guy with any levels of power to confront any level of conflict which basically has a baseline of multiverse levels of power because comic writers had to use the concept of a multiverse as plot devices in order to write themselves out of corners to change direction to popular demand, allow different companies to retcon stories after switching of copyrights and authors being changed. Dragon ball is an at least semi cohesive story that needs to retain a linear growth of power for confronting stronger enemies while allowing room for growth of the main character to confront future threats. It's comparing a fan fic ridden series characterized by willingness to break continuities (yet all the while the authors want to insist it is a single story because they don't want to give up past story points to go back to for endless milking) to a story that has retcons that can be counted on one hand. Of course the prior is going to have greater feats because there is no expectation that past events have future consequences so they can just be as ridiculous as whatever author writing at the time can imagine, whereas Toriyama is the singular author and has to actually pace his story while the only non cannon story, super heros, barely exists in terms of content compared to the main series.

I think Marks opinion on how every character should have a drawback is really interesting. It seems like it should be just fundamentally true, and I think I agree with it 99% of the time, but not here. The reason why I like superman much more than other superheros(which I generally don’t like very much) is because he is invincible. His story is not one of trying to become a god, its one of a god living amongst men. The fact that he IS the strongest is why his pure, good heart is so important. Unlike Goku, who is a man trying to become a god(which is not a bad thing I love original dragonball), Superman is a God trying to be stay human. Its rarely done well, but people who are the strongest can be good. Another good example is Yujiro, who is so far above the rest of his universe in power that literally everyone else stopped challenging him. Its his overwhelming strength that gives the series its direction. Anyway just remember that discord from my little pony solos everybody in anime and comics easy. So there is no real point in comparing different universes to each other.

The issue is that fans equate how "awesome" (or what ever word you want to use) their favorite character is with how strong they are. So they go on the defense with statements like "Superman can beat Goku". That's fine, that alone doesn't make Superman a better character. A random dude can publish a crappy book with a character stronger than Superman and that won't mean anything.

TBH this was one of the most respectful ways to end that debate once and for all without pissin of the DB fan base.
