As Viper007Bond said above, there's no road salt used here. Often times when a pickup wears out, they cut the front half off and scrap it while using the bed as a trailer. It's not uncommon to see pickup beds from the 50s and 60s being towed behind newer vehicles.

Moved to PDX with my wife a year ago and we've really been enjoying it. It's cleaner and safer-feeling than any big city I've ever lived in; you're safe as long as you avoid the Lloyd Center and Old Town when the sun goes down. Recent events honestly have been blown way out of proportion by the media, but I'm not mad if it keeps rent (kinda) down and the tourists away. Lots to do, great food, and the car scene here is better than any place I've ever lived too. Even Detroit and LA don't compare. Kei cars, Redblocks, old diesel Mercs, well-built offroaders, supercars, classics, mint old econoboxes that nobody but an RCR fan would save... this place has it all. PIR is a damn decent track too and, if you get bored of that, Oregon Raceway Park is just on the other side of Mt. Hood. Portland has its issues for sure: incompetent local government (esp. concerning the mishandling of the houseless population), gentrification, useless and/or bad LEOs, hipsters, and way too many IPAs to name a few. All that being said though, I think both of us are gonna be real sad when we have to leave this place.

hlavco Sadly the 94 Shadow I owned circa 2002 loved to eat head gaskets. After two head gaskets, it then ate the front seal without warning. Dumped all its oil in the course of about 1 mile. 2.5l 4 automatic. By the time the oil light came on, the engine was already knocking. Had to give it away, it was at around 150k miles. Oh, and I had also had to replace the transmission as well. Thing was a pile of crap. I think I only managed about 10,000 miles the entire time I owned it. Constantly hood up in the driveway.

Alvin Brinson Ah, my dad had the base model with the stickshift. Seems like base models of cars tend to last longest. Actually, he got his for super cheap because it was a factory misfit car-- it was the 95hp base model, but they accidentally put "Shadow GT" stickers and decals all over it. So, it lasted forever and looked great doing it.

So, it lasted forever and looked great doing it.
This looks nice and calm.
I've got a '93 Tercel in Bethlehem if you'd like to review one sometime. It's getting on in years, though, and there's some rust happening around the wheel wells.
Portland is a cool city I lived there for ten years. I saw a guy driving and X body Chevy that was show room clean while living there. For those that do not know that's a Citation. A lot of clean old cars in the PNW, very little snow and No salt.
SD70ACe's behind the Plymouth Sundance.
two volvo 240's? best video EVER
Damit! i was there over the weekend! All the way from vancouver BC. Had my 93 Delica L300 with me. Would've been awsome if you did a RCR. :(
Greetings from Norway! Please test the mx6 while you're there! I havent seen it live yet (since I live in norway) and it would be awesome if you made a video about it!
I only wish it was longer!
How did I not see you running around my city!?!?!
You were in my town! Damn!
Nice video Mr.Regular!
Trains. So authentic.
I don't think Mr. Regular really mentions it, but when we were eating at Lardo's the amount of Subaru Outback's and Foresters was unbelievable! I mean it felt like every other car was a mid 2000's Subaru.
Lived and worked around Portland for years, great town, did you get to Voodoo donuts?
Your videos are beautiful, rcr
Dammit!!! I wish I knew you were here
Mr. Reg seems to fit in pretty well here
are you going to be in Seattle? there is the Seattle international car show going on this weekend... I'll be there!
There's a reason the Curbside Classic blog posts so much stuff from Portland. It's regular-car heaven.

Nice, a fellow Curbside reader.
Speaking of 90s cars, please do a review of the Third generation Prelude and the VW Corrado. I dunno why but I loved those cars when I was younger.
The Toyota tercel was my first car. Wish I still had it so you could review it
I live in Portland (a couple of the shots were a few blocks from my office) and I used to have a Paseo that I totally would have let RCR review.
When are you coming to the seattle area?
M. Regular, have you ever thought of reviewing a 2CV?
I wonder what city he's in.
It's like I've always been told. Portland today is Seattle circa 1990 somehow transported to the Willamette Valley circa 2015.
You know you want to live Portland! You want to! You want to! You want to! You want to!

Go to York pa, I been there many times and see SO MANY DODGE AND PLYMOUTH SUNDANCES
Rare "now" regular car heaven!
I'm guessing the lack of road salt is why you're seeing all these glorious early 90's cars
You were a block away from Red Door Meet! every sunday @6:30 500+ cars meet on 2nd street. its like fast and the furious you missed out
I don't understand these videos but I like them.
What's the plan for you being here? Going to any of the meets?
looks nice!
Haha wow, A Plymouth Sundance. Suddenly I miss my Dodge Shadow.
"Why is this city so clean." How times have changed
Oh my god I could have walked passed you anytime! Dude you gotta stay for Sunday night! Also review my 1997 infinity Q45, it's slammed just heads up. ;)
Trains: So authentic! Indeed they are, including the fact that you didn’t go to see any other trains..
Poor Portland, you deserved better.
I have an 85 tercel if you want to review it! I'm in washinton!
Come to Mississippi ave tomorrow. I'll let you review my beer truck
@RegularCarReviews It seems you were not interested in my MINI. :(
"Is this chicken local?"
Chod central as I would call it. So much RCR worthy stuff there
it's a shame you didn't come over to close in southeast. there are like six beautiful early Land Cruisers in a 4 block radius of my house not to mention my neighbors collection of weird turbo K cars.
WAIT... Portland? im up in vancouver!! my really close friend has a shop with about 20ish cars... in different stages of resto... i bet he'd LOVE to show you around, he actually just finished a restoration on a 1920 buick. please.. come check it out
come to bend, its a tiny fancy portland. beer bikes and Subaru...
what cities and towns did you guys stop at?
Man, wish I had a car for you to review!
"oregon where most parts are still stuck in the 80s/90s and some parts are stuck in the 60s/70s and very few have gone with the times... )
The lobby at 1:13 is the entryway to a company that makes software some automotive cos use. Their 1989 Honda RC30 is really really purty
I just moved to Portland and yeah, there are some strange cars I have not seen in years that people drive around here. And they are the type of cars that are gone for a reason, the kinds no one really wants to remember, but here in PDX, its trendy....
I'm from Vancouver! Glad to see you liked Portland, cause I'm sick of it haha

+Sumner Nichols Ouch - I was actually born in Vancouver, and I plan on moving back to the Pacific Northwest in the near future. Is it that bad nowadays?

I've been in Seattle for the last 3 years, but from what I've heard there's tons more people meaning tons of development especially in the couve, and traffic has gotten terrible. I'd still prefer living in Vancouver to just about anywhere across the river...

I'm still here in Vancouver and it's really beginning to get crowded. There's so much more cars on the road now. When it rains expect traffic to slow to a crawl because a lot of people aren't used to having water on their windshield.
that whispering part triggered my asmr
Ah, I remember the battle of Port Lardo. Whittled us down to 350 men in the push up Beer Belly Hill but by god, we made it happen
You must visit the Red Door meet on a dry warm evening, imagine five blocks of all sorts of cars.
you had to go to my home, the year I ship overseas....check out the downtown area on Sunday night for a huge car meet.

Used to have a pair of shorts that just like those. But I ripped them in half. By accident.
