Hey Chris - One thing to know is that you have to first set up the power box with your receiver to "initialize it" or mate it to the RX signal. Then turn off your power box (disconnect battery) turn off radio and then turn both back on. It should work. Connection: You MUST take the VERY last port at the TOP of the board (CDI) to your channel on your RX (such as gear or aux etc whatever switch you want). Then flipping the gear or aux switch will turn on and off the CDI (after you mate yoru RX to the box) We have a new video coming out on the newest models that explains even better than before!
Very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. We are offering more of these videos on more products all the time and offer superb support and service. Please help support us in return so we can continue to PROPERLY support the hobby Cheers! - Redwing RC
Great video. This is the best way to to inform us how your products work. We need more instructional videos such as this one. Thank you.
The cdi always defaults to off so if you have your switch on your transmitter for your ignition on when powering up it will effectively reverse your switch.
Thank you for th reply - that is helpful information
If you would show the wires not all mixed up on the video it would be very helpful so we could see where they go ! Your explanation is good but a Clear picture tells a thousand words.
I am doing research about these Power Box units. Would you have RF interference from plugging in a extension to the ignition cut off for power. I have a couple of older CH ignitions that are noisy.
What happens if a cell in one of the battery packs shorts. Does the unit switch off the bad pack or let the two packs fight each other and get hot.
These models shown here do not but there are new ones just recently released (March 2013) that DO offer this
Hi, I fly a extra 1.75 m span must i need 2 battery's?
You would, but many people run their 30cc or 50cc planes off 1 battery. You need to test your setup before flying to see if there is any interference. With 2.4 it's unlikely.
There is one point that I feel is NOT being made clear enough about these boards. The green and red boards have UNREGULATED voltage to the servos. The 5v regulator on the red board is only 1 amp and for the receiver only. If you are planning to run a 2s Lipo, and your servos are not able to handle 8.4 volts, you will likely cook your servos and crash.
By plugging in the servo battery supply into the CDI circuit, you have DEFEATED the purpose of CDI power isolation. The CDI power and servo power are now the same - which is NOT GOOD. Yes, it MAY work. But be forewarned - your servo power will probably be noisy. Much better to use a small separate 2S lipo pack to power the ignition.
how much are they?
Save $120 and plug 2 batterys into your reciever

amen
great product with no support.......one of mine has a defect and vendor or manufacturer say too bad.
Everything I've read on these cheap boxes states they are garbage guaranteed to fail. Yet this "down home" company sells them anyways...
