    I agree with the do it by hand method but this isn't a bad starting point. Really you want the tiniest bit of play on the spur gear and the pinion. You want the ramped part of both gears touching evenly which is just a wee bit off of fully mashed together. There's some other KZread vids that zoom in to show this well

    Cool so I did it right for my RC car. I just dont know if there is suppose to be grease between them? I know one of my RC cars has grease where the pinion is but the new one I installed didnt have grease is it really needed?

  • @RCOverloadYT

    @RCOverloadYT

    7 жыл бұрын

    Technically their shouldn't be any grease on those two gears. the reason for that is because if their is grease on the pinion and spur gears theirs a much higher chance of dirt sticking to them causing them to wear out prematurely. The only gears that should ever have grease on them are in the transmission case itself, and differentials.

    Friend, please help me, I'm new to car modeling, I built an onroad car, with a 64pitch pinion with 40T, and a 64pitch 96T spur gear, I use a hobywing 10bl120a esc, the futaba 3pv radio has the end point at 100%, the 10.5T Brushless engine for 1/10 cars in the few laps I drove, the spur gear damaged all the teeth, how can I be doing so that this doesn't happen?

  • @kato4fitty
    @kato4fitty8 жыл бұрын

    Im currently trying this method. Should there be any backlash (Free play) even minute on this gearing? Im doing this on an axial yeti. I noticed when i set the motor with the paper then tightened the motor clamp it tightened the mesh so it was way to tight. I then set it with slight backlash, then tightened the motor clamp and it tightened up so the backlash disappeared. This should be correct im thinking???

  • @RCOverloadYT

    @RCOverloadYT

    8 жыл бұрын

    +kato4fitty Sounds about right. Sometimes the motor likes to move when you tighten the nuts or bolts down. best thing to do is just try to hold the motor still wile your tightening it down.

    +healeyt i don't have anything on the wraith at the moment. But a 35t is a good motor for it from my understanding. As far as pinion go im not sure, but i bet if you checked out rccrawler.com and search a tad bit threw their forum, you would find exsacly what your looking for.

    Having metal to metal action can result in the whole axel going into the engine breaking as plastic can snap/grind down but metal will break things if you understand what I mean. I also learnt that my chassis was bent and wasn't ment to be bent so I bent it back straight and the gears seem to align, still need to test it out.

    I wouldn’t recommend the paper in the video it tends to be very thin. Use a quality inkjet paper and you will have the proper thickness for gears up to module 1. Module 1.5 and up you may need to double up the paper where you don’t have a fixed gear assembly.
