    I have been a big fan of Hobbywing. When my stock Castles go bad, I always go with a Hobbywing replacement. Though usually a Hobbywing ESC and Leopard motor for non-sensored systems. Sensored, I like Hobbywings higher end stuff.

    Got this set up to go in my Axial Yeti XL Kit ... Got to say, I have been using Hobbywing products for a while now and can vouch for their quality. very well finished and very reliable. Makes you wonder why anyone would pay the extra for Castle and Tekin products ... all those I spoke to in hobby stores stocking Hobbywing, Castle & Tekin products claim you are paying for the name of the latter 2.

  • @TheRCNetwork

    @TheRCNetwork

    4 жыл бұрын

    You'll need a new motor plate (not motor mount) as the SCT410.3 was designed for 550 canned motors to sit the motor as low in the chassis as possible. Next, the can is too long (likely) to fit the ESC. Ideally you'd need a 70mm length can to fit. Why do you need 3 and 4s ?? If you want to run 3s, find something in the 3000-3500kv range for 550 sized motors

    Yeah, it should work great and be a nice upgrade - double check the size of the motor compared to the max though. As for what you'll need - just a connector for your battery....if it's Traxxas, they're a bit hard to get. I'd just have this and the batteries switched to XT90's if possible

  • @TheRCNetwork

    Technically, it's a truggy sized motor, so some buggies may have issues fitting it (length) otherwise, should work fine. As for sensorless vs sensored? Sensored will be smother at lower throttle and smoother overall. Sensorless can "cog" at low RPM

    You can just add a “loop” on one of the connectors - basically just the battery side of the plug with a wire going to either side of the connector to complete the one plug. But I’m curious - your track only allows 1/8th scale buggies to run 2s? You may want to consider a different motor, as you’ll never have the power with this one on 2s

I dabbled in this "lightweight" e buggy class a few years ago and honestly, it tore through batteries like crazy on 2s. You'll want to remove as much weight from that eco as you can though

    You'll want to install an external BEC from Castle - typically a 10amp BEC will work - amzn.to/2y5ygAu There's specific installation instructions - search on KZread - it's not hard though

    Castle offers a couple - the Sidewinder 8th - I think this one is better....as they're equal in price and this one comes with a program card, heat sink on the motor and an actual amperage rating on the ESC (Castle usually never lists this). Comparing the Mamba X - sure, it's a bit better, but also $75 more...If you're looking for a real powerhouse, check out the Xerun XR8Plus combo from Hobbywing...it's fully sensored and Wifi capable: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2uNyKSJY8a7m84.html

    I hear ya, but this motor was intended for a 1/8th scale truggy - needs 5s-6s to run to push around a 10lbs truggy - the weight penalty alone from the motor and battery would bring the speed down. Going with an appropriate 540/550 sized motor with a higher kv will get you the speed - like the Xerun 3652 5100kv - it's a 4 pole sensored motor with a crazy amount of torque and top end speed

    Brand new 1080... The throttle would cut out at random times. It was odd. I tried other things and everything pointed to the brand new esc I bought.. So I emailed them (hate when email is the only way, would be way easier if I could call) and they asked for pics of how my truck is set up and all that. My email doesn't send pics for some reason.. I tried and never got a response from HW. So I went to a Castle SW3 esc like I should have done in the first place.. Haven't had any issues since. I will stick to castle from here on out- most of my RCs are powered by their products and they are great. Love my sensored 3800 combo in my Yeti. Best part is, you can CALL castle if there ever would be an issue.

    Risha Circuit Each to their own, I guess. I had a SCT sidewinder once and used it in a lightweight SCT only to have the thing overheat after 10min use. I know it wasn't over geared and the truck wasn't heavy, so after that I didn't buy another Castle. Went to Hobbywing and never looked back. Good reliable units that have never let me down. The Max8 (not a cheap system as Rich makes it out to be) is by far the best combo I've ever owned for a 1/8 scale. Crazy powerful with heaps of tuning options via a card, not a laptop and again, very reliable. Castle do make good systems, but I find that Hobbywing are better and here is Australia, they're easier to get and are cheaper. Can't beat them for value. The only thing Hobbywing don't do are 1/5 scale systems and that's when Castle comes in handy, their 1/5 systems are really good (from what I hear).
