​@@PTO_Finesse yep...I remember when it dropped. The album cover with Dre & the weed leaf was hard as hell. I just knew that mf would be a hit. It told a story & was perfect from start to finish. Dre put together a masterful production with that mf.

It’s clear listening to his features on Chronic & Doggystyle that RBX had so much talent and I feel like he never hit the mainstream he was supposed to. Always respect the X.

That's probably my favorite song from that album 🔥🔥🔥🔥

We have no idea how that song sounded with just him rapping on it, we hear the finished version with Dre. He clearly says he didn’t know what the song was going to do he never said it was a song that could have elevated his career to the next level.

He didn't lose his mind...with all due respect if RBX kept the song would Dre have produced it? It wouldn't have hit the same and we wouldn't be talking about it...hopefully he got writers credit and is still getting paid from it...

Being Gen X I label 1992 "The year that defined the 90s and changed music and culture overnight bc Jan 92 " Nevermind" hits #1 bumping MJ . Bookended by The Chronic dropping Dec 92. I considered "The Chronic" Hip hops "Nevermind". Until the NY hip hop was the defining style then after The Chronic everyone was making gangsta tunes.

They are both credited as writers for it. Perhaps RBX had the idea and verse(s) for it and Snoop helped elsewhere. It's also possible both were so high, and both forgot the specifics? Haha

Snoop wrote a lot of Dre's rhymes. As far as this song, it was probably originally written by RBX but Snoop may have changed a lot of the lyrics. Just an assumption.

Me, too. I know Snoop wrote "Nuthin But A G' Thang" and "Dre Day" tho. Would love to get a track-by-track breakdown one day of who all wrote "The Chronic." Snoop also wrote "This DJ" by Warren G, which should be obvious to anyone who's a Snoop fan, because that's his whole cadence throughout that song.
