RBMN 2102 stack talk and wheel slip 10-29-22

Headed out on oct 29th 2022 to take a ride behind Reading and Northern 2102 between reading and Jim Thorpe and return. The fall foliage was just at peak time for the area, and it was a brisk fall morning and once we got north of Tamaqua the 02 started to slip real hard, coming into east mahanoy junction we were down to less then walking speed. With the booster fully cut in the crew was able to gain control of the train and take back off to track speed once again with out needing the diesels to assist that were following the train. The sounds of the 2102 are quite amazing and you get to hear them all in this video! Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!

I was on this ride and from my seat back around coach 12 there was no way we knew of this amount of wheel slip until I came across this video. Thanx.
im a big fan of the 2102 rideing her all back in 1986 87 88 90 and 91 and tape it all but lost most in a bacement fire very glad you got this shane knows is stuff 10 star video

Almost a stall but Shane Fredricksons excellent enginemanship saved the day from needing to add the ugly nasty Diseasal!

iv had a lot of heath shit this year could not make the trips this year but in 2023 for sure
thoses wheel slips are very crazy and very loud and amazing who cause it to slip very loud

Was 2102 going up a grade during the wheel slip n if so what was the percentage of the grade n if they had a diesel engine how many would they had compared ta one steam train engine she was struggling but she made it all on her own with no help A would love ta know the power between the steam train engines n the diesel train engines
