Razors Shift Inline Skate - REVIEW

Спорт

These are the Razors Shift skates. They’re the new top of the line skate from Razors and retail for around $300 US. The boot includes an internal heel pad shock absorber like the Razors SL series, the same style you found in the old Salomon skates from the 90’s.

Disclosure: Razors gave me a discount on purchasing these skates with no expectations.

    Great Review, a lot better than the review from razors! BTW: I'm from Germany and also on the road 'back to blading'. I had some great years in aggressive skating during my youth. Now I'm middle 30 and since this year I'm trying to get back to older days. It's a lot harder to skate, I know what you're talking about. Just keep on doing these videos, it's a great motivation for me. Thanks!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents- I noticed towards the end of the video, whilst you were doing your wrap up in front of all the parts/accessories that the audio was out of sync. Look forward to more videos!

    Thanks for the catch. Yeah, I saw that too. Tried to fix but seems like it was more noticeable than I thought. My DSLR doesn't capture audio, so I use my iPhone and a USB mic instead. Same session but I bet the sync was off over the 5 minutes it took me to say everything without messing up. =)

    Did you need to modify your Shifts to fit your Oysi frames like you did with your SL3s? Also, just recently found your channel through your podcast on iTunes. Really digging your videos and they are encouraging to anyone trying to get back to blading. I tried to expand my rollerblading skills to the skatepark when I was in high school but I never followed through. I'm back at it now, skating a few times a week in skates that are 2 sizes too small that I got roughly 8-10 years ago. Looking at some shifts for myself in the fall! Loving your videos and thorough reviews.

    Yep, so long as you want to ride 72's you'll have to modify your souls. I think 65's are fine though. Oh nice! How'd you find the podcast? We're recording ep 3 this weekend, been a lot of fun. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. I think you'll like the shifts, but please please make sure to try them on first if at all possible. I've heard from too many people who bought them and found out they were too small.

    Back to Blading certainly going to try on a few pairs of different skates before I make any decisions. Shifts are cool and all but at the end of the day I just want something that fits considering at the moment I can't feel my toes in my old size 9 skates I'm squeezing into. Also, a few weeks ago when I started rollerblading again I just searched iTunes for some rollerblading podcasts. I think I searched "rollerblading" and "aggressive inline" and your show was one of the only few I found on iTunes.

    You're absolutely right. When I got my skates I wanted Valo, but the Razors SL3 felt perfect on my feet. Doesn't matter what skates if they don't fit properly. I think you can get the "hockey" version still: www.skates.com/Salomon-FSK-247-EA-frame-p/78386905i9.htm The wheels are just generic Krypton's 76/76/80/80 which I also had from years ago. If you're looking for a similar setup, you might want to try the new GC Freestyle ALU frames. Just $110 complete with 80mm wheels! www.inlinewarehouse.com/Ground_Control_Freeskate_ALU_Frames/descpage-15GCFA.html

    How well does the boot serve for walking if the soul plate and the slider are removed? That is, would this skate be a practical alternative to Doop/Xsjado-style skates for (for example) skating to the store, removing the base plates to walk around the store, reattaching the base plates once one is done shopping, and skating home?

  • @BacktoBlading

    @BacktoBlading

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hmmm, I don't think I'd recommend doing that. Maybe if there were a 'shoe' IFC attachment, but the bottom of the boot is just hard plastic. Not a bad idea though!

    Seems like the new system will not feel as responsive due to not having any bolts securing the soul plates to the boot. Which means latetal forces will make the boot n soul plate not feel as one connected piece with each other. U know wat i mean right? Like that slop or play feeling. Prolly evident more with tall frame wheels

    This vid is a few years old. But I do have a question. I currently Skate razor Genesis they are by far my favorite skates I’ve ever had. I don’t know how much longer the skates are going to exist and I’m looking at moving to either the Cults or the shifts. I’m mostly worried how they skate. Genesis has the best backslide soulplate set up I’ve ever skated before. I know cults (flats) were 1st but I don’t like the shape of the soul plate, it is not bubbled out like the genesis. These shifts soulplates look like a USD carbon Soulplates to me. I generally do not like soulplates where there is just a knotch out for the Royale Groove, as opposed to what the genesis have done creating it’s own independent plate, where I can put all my weight on it for torques back side farvs. When I had tthe USD one piece soulplate on the carbons, they were extremely difficult with weight distribution considering these grinds. This is what the shift soulplate looks like to me. I’m afraid I’m gonna have the same issue that it’s going to get caught tripping when I’m trying to do a torquesoul on a rough ledge in the street.
