To give you an idea of how pathetic that royalty is, we (Create Originals) do $5 per pair of frames sold wholesale to shops and $10 per pair of frames that sells on our website. That’s just for frames not skates and we don’t pay ourselves anything. We all have to work to keep CO alive. I bet we donated more to his gofundme than Andy did and he doesn’t skate for us. He skates for our competitors. Where you spend your money matters. There are plenty of brands out there. I encourage you all to find out about the people behind the brands and feel good about your purchase not just on the product but on the people bringing you the product.

I think that this type of bullshit is common in everything from Stand-Up Comedy to the touring band music industry. You can ask Richard or Albert Hooi about how their manager used to treat the USD team on tour. Sounded pretty bad, although I don't know any details, I just over-heard them complaining about it in person.

Then you don't actually realise how running a skate company works. 1, you do not skate for sponsorship 2, they don't have the money in the first place. Just because a company looks well off, that could just assets and assets only. If they paid the medical bill, it would actually shut the company down. Therefore, no more razor skates, no more razor team, meaning none of the skaters will get paid at all.

Skateboarders we’re making $1 per board in 1980, adjusting for inflation that’s $3.50 today. That’s so much less than the $2 modern bladers are making and remember that the $1 didn’t include trucks and wheels.

That will work out to between $3500-$5000 per month in deck royalties. They say they're going to cover medical expenses going forward and then they stop taking on US skaters and only take on from places where they wouldn't have to pay any medical expenses for them. Do you think adapt skates are better than iqons? I want a pair of Iqons that are like the USD carbons without a liner, I like my skates being one piece so there is no heel lift or any other movement from liners. The fit for me is better without liners that have to fit perfectly for the boot.

It was on his Instagram story. Tom had to get emergency surgery. As far as I know he's doing fine now. Scary stuff.

There’s precedent for companies having “athletes” working for them doing dangerous stuff and not providing adequate short / long term healthcare. WWE is the most obvious example where wrestlers are - I think - more like independent contractors and hence responsible for their own care. Consider how the NFL acted when it learned that they had been encouraging brain damage. Both these sports have a lot more money to throw around.

I hope he has a speedy recovery....please wear body back protectors.....I wear all my gear and I get teased to the max..but It's worth it....but I do agree with sponsored skaters be insured and taken care of....get well

@@flyingonblades Yes I have done alot of homework and asked other skaters what worked best....I started my first rides with minimal elbows etc...and broke my tailbone...so now I have taught myself how to fall ....falls are getting fewer but I just like to be safe so continue.....have a good night

I’m glad I’ve never bought a pair of razors! My boy made me try his once and I can’t say I should have cuz they felt great locked a top soul first try and it was buttery and felt great!

Razors needs to make a statement about how they proceed with things like this if they want rumors to stop. Whether it's good or bad, own up to it. Then, give better royalties and insure your most important assets. If they can't afford to do that then they need to financially restructure. If they won't do that, they deserve to fail. Protect and respect your skaters. They make the brands.

The actual Razors scooters are produced by a different company. Kind of confusing. But yes, sunshine does make skates and scooters. And no, sunshine is not responsible for razors scooters.

I didn’t realise people even still skated razors..

I ate shit a few times at the skatepark last weekend trying to get back into it and specifically vert. I got some good air but caught my inside foot on the coping. Can't seem to get stalls yet but one day I'm gunna be throwing flat 3's!

Trigger warning: unpopular opinion: In fairness... he knew the risk. He could just... not be a 'pro' skater couldn't he and then he wouldn't have been hurt! Yeah it sucks - but the flipside is that if you do a job that involves an element of risk you have to accept that. He won't be employed directly by Razors he's just sponsored by them and volunteered to be a marketing tool. He was unlucky and yeah it would be nice if Razors stepped up a bit but you could say that across the board re: corporate responsibility.

Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. I think too many people are using this situation in one way or another to promote themselves as well which I think is really pathetic. There’s a lot of opinions with great sentiments in theory but ultimately they’re just pipe dreams or not the most tangible. Nevertheless wishing Jeph a speedy recovery.

When we fall, we have only ourself to blame. If you don’t want to be sponsored, don’t take the money. Sponsors are not asking skaters to do anything extraordinary.

I will never by a razor blade again until they provide better royalties and insure their skaters

Tucking in your shirt while blading will never look good, lol. Which is a shame because that dude has great skating style, just terrible clothing style.
