    We are a retired couple. Saw your video and tackled our shower door today. It worked beautifully. We finished it off using some RainX to avoid bad spots in future. It took some time but well worth it. Thank you so much.

    I recently moved into an apartment run by the Berkeley Student Cooperative, which has been around since 1933. Many things in my apartment seem like they haven't been cleaned since then, including our shower doors. I tried to get off those water stains with a few different cleaners but it hardly seemed to do anything. Gave this a try and BOOM, good as new. Thank you!

    I’ve found that this method works great on High Gloss porcelain tiles too. Your tip on using a squeegee after showering is right on. I also keep a razor near by and scrape one or two tiles every so often thereby keeping the job small and not so time consuming. Thank you for taking the time to edit and post this video.

    This is funny; after many trying all other methods and failing, used this method yesterday and worked. But it is very very time-consuming. Today, started looking to another method and found your video. I guess I'll have to use 4-inch razor blades. Thank you!!!

    Absolute game changer! I thought my shower was going to be permanently like that. I had layers of soap buildup that made it look almost frosted. I have a 2 sided scraper, the plastic side I used on the stainless steel and the razor on the glass. Left no scratches. Took about an hour but looks so good now!

    she is so right....I tried the drill with the comet and it only took off the soap scum but not the hard water stains.....the razor with soap works great...it is more work but I have found that if you treat with rainX afterwards you will not have to clean it but every few months if that often. The razor is the deal.

    This is how I have done this for years. I use an old credit card edge. I do it dry without all the prep work. Just rapidly scrape the edge of the card around the door where you see the crud build up. Little shavings will fall to the floor without any water messing it up. They can be brushed or vacuumed away. Then wash with a regular glass cleaner. Its just as good as using the whole razor blade scrubbing fiasco shown here.

    @tenminutetasks

    I would spray an acidic cleaner like apple cider vinegar, distilled vinegar or lemon juice on the glass and leave it on for an hour. This should break down the water stain and soften it up so it'll lift up. Then I'd use 0000 steel wool with a little bit of dish soap and water and clean in circular motions the entire glass. Rinse. And buff dry with a clean cloth.

    Using a razor like your one, it took 15 minutes to get a spot about 2" square removed. It is so hard, I thought the marks must be etched into the glass. Nothing natural works. Hydrochloric acid works immediately, but it scares the hell out of me.

    Okay, so unfortunately this method did not work for my shower glass. I researched a little further and turns out that some stains can be etched into the glass which makes them impossible to razor away and the web page I looked at recommended using automotive sandpaper so I am going to try that next! I noticed you had not tried Lime Away, a liquid product I get at the dollar store for a couple bucks. It comes in a spout bottle or a sprayer and neutralizes the lime and cleans off the soap scum at the same time. Our water is FULL of lime and so the lime builds up after just one shower. I can easily wipe my clear shower doors down with a little nylon scrubber and Lime Away in about 3 minutes, and then rinse, and it makes the doors look like new. You should try it -- it would be alot easier and faster than your method.

    Great video. Just what the doctor ordered. I tried all sorts of methods to get this build up removed from my mothers shower screen. I briefly did try a razor but watching your video, I bought the same type of razor you have been using and got to work. My mother,s shower screen was a lot worse than yours. Or your job. My industrial chemist told me there is aluminium sulphate in the water. I imagine this is worldwide. In the early days we never had these issues but now it is regular. I guess many people do not believe their Governments spray the skies with metal additives for whatever their weather modification programmes are. Despite this operation been covert when you work with industrial chemists on a regular basis who themselves say this is absolute who is lying the Government or the industrial chemists and why do we have such issues with milky shower screens. Anyway this is my explanation of why we are getting more build up. I put a deposit on a milwalkie polisher. It is a 12 volt cordless drill that can spin at 8,000 rpm. This may be usefull to the showers after the initial cleanup. I may need to buy some pastes and polishing products. After I did the preliminary razor blade scraping, I used some vinigar and ran straight runs. I haven't even got all the deposits removed. I will wait till I get my polisher. Thankyou for your video.

    Clean App Clean App. I picked up the milwaulkee polisher sander. They are good. My industrial chemist told me to use Ceric Oxide. It is a type of powder they use for cleaning windows or shower screens. Also he mentioned cosmetics. I'm not sure which one. I haven't been able to get hold of any ceric oxide at least not from Bunnings. I got one of the blades you mentioned. It's great. I didn't even get all the shower screen completely free from whatever is etched into the shower screen but a lot better. I'm grateful for watching your video. The blades seem to rust in that application unless if olive oil helps.

    Can i use a wiper instead of a razor blade?

  • @tenminutetasks

    @tenminutetasks

    4 жыл бұрын

    Great question! You can use a wiper after showering, but to remove the hard water stains it will need some vinegar to break down the hard water and a razor blade to remove the stains. Once that is done, you can wipe it and buff dry it to make it shine. At that point, the wiper comes in handy after showers to avoid more hard water from staining the glass.

    I have almost given up on cleaning my shower glass door, the lime scale just too stubborn, I've used 5 brand of chemicals and a lot of elbow grease with it to remove them but to no avail and I found yer video. I gonna give yer method a try, but I have never seen a razor blade with handle like that where did ye get it.

  • @Psi105
    @Psi1055 жыл бұрын

    You can do it much faster if you find / buy a *super* wide razor blade and handle from an industrial supply shop. Like 8inch/200mm wide. But you do have to be SUPER SUPER!! careful with a razor blade that long. One slip and you can cut deep into your skin. An injury with a normal razor isn't life threatening most of the time, but a large razor can go very deep into your skin with very little effort. You have been warned!
