What is the Character and quality of the near-death experience? Do such experiences represent an authentic encounter with a world beyond, or are they an artifact of our brain's activity? The common qualities of the near-death experience include feelings of profound peace, out-of-body sensation, meeting with "beings of light" and with one's deceased relatives, reviewing on's life and a reluctance to return. Dr. Moody explores the significance of these experiences for our understanding of the collective unconscious, emphasizing the value of wisdom and love as being primary in human life.
Raymond A. Moody, Jr., M.D., a psychiatrist, is author of the classic Life After Life which sold over ten million copies and inaugurated research in the field of near-death studies. A professor of psychology at Wes Georgia College, he is also author of Laugh After Laugh and The Light Beyond.

Dr. Raymond Moody saved me and my sister’s lives. I read his book in 1975. My mother was on a ventilator in 1994. I again read his book and also saved by the light. These books gave me such inspiration, and something I had not recieved from my Catholic upbringing. This made sense. This was spirituality at its finest. God bless you, Dr. Raymond Moody. I lost my daughter a month ago 28 years old. And I came back to you again once again!! and your latest interviews. You have even more belief now! all I can say is thank you. 🙏❤️🙏

I also felt the same way. I was thrown into a swimming pool (at a party) by three drunk men. I don't know how to swim. When I reached the bottom of the swimming pool I felt very peaceful, calm - its hard to explain in words that feeling . Then, I felt some regret that I was dying without doing anything positive and then I was pushed up by a force. Also, 5-6 days earlier to the drowning, I had premonition that I should not go to that party and if I went I would die. Still I went.

Me too!! When my mother passed over in 1994 Dr. Raymond Moody saved my life me and my sister would’ve committed suicide. This year I’ve lost my 28 year old daughter she had a ruptured appendix that was misdiagnosed. There’s nothing you can do in Florida. They have a free kill law. My heart is broken Dr. Raymond Moody, and Damien Brinkley‘s book in 1994 saved our lives. I’m serious and now his opinion has even changed more! I didn’t realize when his first Book life after life came out in 1975 and Brinkley’s book came out in 1994 when my mother who was on a ventilator for seven months passed away. I did not realize that the doctor was still not 100% positive he was skeptical as most doctors are. But now his opinion has changed!! I wasn’t aware of this at the time and which now thrills me. To realize that he is even more sure, through his research !!! ❤️🙏❤️I think he is the greatest man that has ever lived.

it's as simple as day and night.....and he and Eben Alexander are right. When we die.......even for a minute it does change our lives forever. All we bring back is the unconditional love we feel for our own life, the people we after meet and all the love we start sharing. Madley enough only a handfull (if is that much) will do that without having an NDE. So they are both very truthfull on what they say. And yes they are again right when they do say.........YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DIE OR ALMOST DIE TO GET IT. It's amazing..........people called me Moody for many years. I am a believer.......I believe I know why

Yes love others as you love yourself. This why the model examples are not material seekers who worry for thier self, because they would worry for those they love. They care for thier self, and are thus able to love unconditionally with care.

@Okam85: I’m very open to the idea that DMT can bring on amazing altered states of consciousness, but that doesn’t mean that consciousness is merely the brain at work. I think that if DMT does produce states of consciousness that resemble parts of the NDE, that they may actually be genuinely real experiences in other reality systems. The brain behaves as a filter to restrict us to the physical so that we can live our lives. DMT opens part of that filter.

  • @AnduinX
    @AnduinX12 жыл бұрын

@Okam85: The most impressive parts of the NDE are the ones that are least explainable by the materialist model. Such as accurate veridical perception (even in the blind), and shared near death experiences. I don't think such things can be accounted for by the idea that the NDE is simply the brain on DMT. Mind transcends the physical.

I dunno.... I put my faith in Christ in 2007. The Holy Spirit had asked me what the meaning of life is, and I said, "Love." And He asked me if I had done that. I said I had, referencing a romantic relationship that had dissolved just earlier that month. "No, you lusted," I heard. The conversation entailed much more, but...by grace through faith in His only begotten Son, that's the only confidence I have that the "Good Place" awaits me the moment this is all over. Even in the 11+ years since that fateful night, I cannot boast in my own acts of love toward others. I still feel quite self-centered. I try to abide by the Golden Rule generally, but often I don't have the emotional energy to treat others *exactly* the way I would prefer to be treated if I were *exactly* in their shoes. ...I try not to hurt anyone, but I don't feel that motivated to be very outgoing either. I've got my own emptiness and worries, caught up in my own survival as long as I must remain in this world. ..."How have you learned to love?" Is that the question he posed? Hit or miss, varying from situation to situation. So...the sacrifice He made on the cross in my place, that's all I got for real.

Interesting piece of transcendentalist reasoning. As i just recently have become enlightened myself I understand exactly what he is trying to convey in his message. The people who experience these NDE's have their humanitarian consciousness awakened through the act of an NDE so that after they return to their corporial existence they cannot act any other way directly or indirectly because of the awareness and awakening of the humanitarian that lives within all of us.

Some people do much more for the humankind than the other - and he has done looooots of stuff for us ... Lets hope he is understood by everyone one day ! ... And visit Prague soon again, Mr. Moody :-)

Reports like those described by Dr. Moody make me wonder, and some say it is the case, that our souls (or some aspect of them), have been sent here because we need to go (maybe) through earthly experiences to understand the basics of God's desires for our development. It's almost as if our souls were heavenly rebels who would not accept Heaven as God wills it and as it is, or maybe our souls who are too stupid in their own right, to stay in Heaven and just get along. Maybe we are even part of the "angelic" portion who rebelled with Satan and who were cast out of Heaven. We could be I suppose, God is merciful and kind toward us.

He said it right....near death experience but not real death. I mean if you come back to tell it then you were never really dead. Is very ironic that we tend to say rest in peace but according to this people some are in some heavens and others are in hell. Is evident that the duality of the brain is causing this. Duality is good verses evil, cold, hot, black white, heaven, hell, God, devil and so on. We tend to see the illusion of separation because our brain, in reality we are all oneness, it has nothing to do evil verses heaven or hell verses heaven.

You guys should read books by Michael Newton - he does past life regression therapy and life between lives therapy. He wrote a few books about what he had taken out of them. Very deep, alot deeper than the subject of NDE's it's about the core of allm not just the surface...

@Okam85: I've heard the DMT argument before, but the reality is that it doesn't change the nature of the debate at all. All the DMT theory says is that there is a physical/chemical trigger for NDE-like experiences, but we already knew that, as death itself is a physical trigger for the NDE. So in that sense, it adds nothing new to the equation. The real debate here is whether consciousness is merely the brain at work, or if consciousness transcends brain.

If you read into NDE stories, then you basically get the answer for the point of living. All important thing is somehow... love. Everything else is bs. Everything we have here is only, so we can have a "stage" to perform... and our performance has only one measure after we die... If we used our life to work with love or not... If not, then you probably need to come back. Different body, but for the same performance.

Guess what no matter how much you want to watch and even though most electronics have a stored electric charge in the battery no electricity means no HD tv. Theres a similar concept with DMT and completely zero brain activity.

Though difficult to percieve the humanitarian approach to human evolution is the true path to enlightenment! People such as Jesus, Bhudda, Krishna and others knew this but their teachings were corrupted by those who cannot grasp the concept

For DMT to present these lucid ultra real(more than real life y most accounts) brain actitvity would need to be present.

We wouldn't understand if a piece of this other World was directly in front of our face.. it's outside of your 5 senses. If you really want proof ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find...the only way to truly know is a road less traveled and quite narrow, yet a road that leads to Truth. What do the people who have sought this truth all their lives say?

Scientists are advancing quantum theory, they must, but Dawkins is being left in the dust of Newtonian physics and seems unable or unwilling to grasp science as developing theory, and he is being left in the dust. But his enormous ego must keep him in the limelight. Same that other 'fund whore' the ridiculous Blackmore. Have you read the piece I mentioned by way? Tells you all you need to know about him.
