Hi! Here are more unfinished levels of mine, this time on the themes of dreams and nightmares! The two maps showcased in this video are ‘The Lonely Cliff’s Shadow’ and ‘The Joy of Dreaming’.

The Lonely Cliff’s Shadow is a special ‘remake’ of The Lonely Cliff which has mysteriously changed following Mr Dark’s defeat… It features a sinister atmosphere and strange details related to the presumably ‘dead’ sorcerer (whose darkness will always exist).
The right edge of the map is no longer a bottomless pit and is the way to the next sections of the level (which are all unfinished). Seems like the void created by Rayman’s arch-nemesis still persists…
I’ve also added some extra secrets and expanded the Noseless Rayman easter egg so it actually behaves similarly to the joke edit I made in my Rayman Redemption compilation: • Rayman Redemption - AL...
As you can see, I’ve experimented with the opacity of custom graphics. Since you can now put them in the foreground or the background, it gives it a lot of possibilities for environments transforming during gameplay or interior areas with transparent walls!
The Joy of Dreaming is one of my most ambitious ReDesigner projects. I’m planning to make it available in episodic releases (which will allow you to backtrack to previous chapters with a few changes), before culminating in a complete one (without bonus stages due to limitations).
It combines Rayman 1 and NiGHTS Into Dreams, the two Saturn titles of my childhood which introduced me to video games! It mixes the DNA of both series for the visuals, music, universe (featuring the dreamlike symbolism from NiGHTS), and some gameplay and level design ideas.
I’m proud of this one, especially for the ninth section with is a tribute to Twin Seeds and Bellbridge from NiGHTS. It replicates the feeling of hopelessness you get at the beginning before you suddenly come out of the darkness to fly freely in the night sky!
I’ve even combined the two versions of Growing Wings, using the original’s intro before cutting to the Journey of Dreams variation (which switches later to the remaining part of the classic theme). NiGHTS is a game which truly fills you with a sense of wonder, and so I really wanted to make sequences like this as magical as possible!
However, this project was started in the era when I tended to overload my creations with way too many enemies and decorations, so I’ll have to trim out a lot of excessive content for the final releases. ‘More’ doesn’t always mean ‘better’…
It currently contains one complete section while parts of a few others are partially functional, such as the museum or the fiery forest (so I advise you to play in the editor’s test mode).
Speaking of the last one, I may either change it to a different theme (like the scrapped Halloween level in NiGHTS’ PS2 port) or separate it from The Joy of Dreaming as it’s too distinct from everything else…
By the way, the final scene of this section is a recreation of the Rayman 1 early screenshot where you can see Mr Skops in the Dream Forest.
Once again, I can’t promise any of this content will ever completed. It’s a matter of having enough free time for it, and this year I won’t have much. Still, feedback is very appreciated to improve them in the future!
