I was this girl. So desperate not to feel, so desperate to escape. Running around drinking, partying without a care. Anyone who saw me wouldn’t know I was dying inside. I wouldn’t recognise her today, but I would give her a hug. Now I’m a wife and a mum and I have so much joy in my life. I always dreamt of this life and thought it wouldn’t be mine, but here I am living it. I plead to the universe I’ll never take it for granted

This song reveals how most of people deals with heartbreaks; drugs, alcohol, sex. We all wanna numb our feelings when it comes to this, and have no "symptoms", because it feels horrible being in that state of mind. We are humans, trying to cope with all these emotions.

This song really highlights the modern day issues many young people face and how they cope and escape by self destruction, ultimately ruining our souls to escape the pain. Great song
@iss2075
Жыл бұрын
The main problem is that most young people genuinely don't believe they have souls in the first place. At least in Western countries they are raised to believe that souls are just superstitious, pseudoscientific nonsense. The people who are responsible for this have ruined millions of lives and destroyed a civilisation. We need to demand from our leaders that they tell the public the TRUTH from now on. We are not just lumps of meat being kept alive by electrical impulses, we DO have souls. Enough of the lying. They need to tell the truth. Every child needs to be taught in SCHOOL that they have a soul. It takes 10 minutes. But it would change the world.

the production on this song is unreal. it tells a story and builds/evolves over the course of the song. It feels grand and maximalist at times without being overdone. You can hear lots of musical influences from certain songs throughout if your a music person. The arrangement, musical switchups, flow, WOW super quality!

This song is incredible, but the video and its symbolism is fantastic. Love that the people in the bar are all essentially frozen, that music is a drug (violin), but also its like a tiny violin which is what you play when you want pity, and that in the whole video she almost feels like she's alone but with people.
"Be at peace with the things you can't change."💘
I love how she portrayed the fucked up coping mechanisms that our generation has been upholding and at the end the soft whisper "be at peace with what you can't change" just fits perfectly.

Lyrics [Intro: RAYE] Sleazin' and teasin', I'm sittin' on him All of my diamonds are drippin' on him I met him at the bar, it was twelve or something I ordered two more wines 'cause tonight, I want him [Verse 1: RAYE] A little context if you care to listen I find myself in a shit position The man that I love sat me down last night And he told me that it's over, dumb decision And I don't wanna feel how my heart is rippin' In fact, I don't wanna feel, so I stick to sippin' And I'm out on the town with a simple mission In my little black dress and this shit is sittin' [Pre-Chorus: RAYE] Just a heart broke bitch, high heels six inch In the back of the nightclub, sippin' champagne I don't trust any of these bitches I'm with In the back of the taxi sniffin' cocaine Drunk calls, drunk texts, drunk tears, drunk sex I was lookin' for a man who was on the same page Now it's back to the intro, back to the bar To the Bentley, to the hotel, to my old ways [Chorus: RAYE] 'Cause I don't wanna feel how I did last night I don't wanna feel how I did last night Doctor, doctor, anything, please Doctor, doctor, have mercy on me Take this pain away You're askin' me my symptoms, doctor, I don't wanna feel [Verse 2: RAYE] Toke this joint how I'm blowin' this steam Back to my ways like 2019 Not twenty-four hours since my ex did dead it I got a new man on me, it's about to get sweaty Last night really was the cherry on the cake Been some dark days lately and I'm findin' it cripplin' Excuse my state, I'm as high as your hopes That you'll make it to my bed, get me hot and sizzlin' If I take a step back to see the glass half-full At least it's the Prada two-piece that I'm trippin' in And I'm already actin' like a dick, know what I mean? So you might as well stick it in [Pre-Chorus: RAYE] Just a heart broke bitch, high heels six inch In the back of the nightclub, sippin' champagne I don't trust any of these bitches I'm with In the back of the taxi sniffin' cocaine Drunk calls, drunk texts, drunk tears, drunk sex I was lookin' for a man who was on the same page Now it's back to the intro, back to the bar To the Bentley, to the hotel, to my old ways [Chorus: RAYE & 070 Shake] 'Cause I don't wanna feel how I did last night I don't wanna feel how I did last night Doctor, doctor, anything, please Doctor, doctor, have mercy on me Take this pain away You're askin' me my symptoms, doctor, I don't wanna feel, mm (What?) Anyone who listen to this song you have a great music taste!!!!!
She reminds so much of Amy when it comes to looks, aesthetics, sound and even voice. She's SO insanely talented, she has been for so long in the industry and has written hits for some of the greatest artists and she is only now getting her flowers. Her raspy voice, the insane vocals, the glamorized vintage hollywood/60's aesthetic, the visuals, the euphoric vibe, the artistry.. she's on another level.

This song hits so hard because it's so relatable.. the things we do to ourselves when we are in pain, how we give in so easily to our impulses, our weaknesses, falling, flailing, flirting with madness and self destructive behavior, burning bridges, going down in flames and perhaps subconsciously hoping that our antics will somehow catch a sympathetic eye, someone to pull us back from the brink.. thats what i get from this song.
