Ray Winstone, after visiting Afghanistan, voices his opinion and says troop deaths are avoidable. "The Government asks them to fight a war - why don't they give them the equipment to fight it with? These boys are out there protecting my kids. It's not a war like Iraq, there's a reason to be there. They have a belief in serving and protecting this country."

No matter whether you believe a war is justified or not, the military are there doing their duty. It is the duty of their government to avoid that situation in the first place, and then support them completely as they risk their lives. This is said without reference to any political viewpoint.

What was you listening to? What 'macho bullshit' did he come out with? None that I heard. Seems that you just dislike him so are criticising him for no reason whatsoever. He may have played a few macho roles in his career but he is extremely civilised and polite. I'm guessing you just have a prejudice against London accents.
