Love this! Believe it or not, there is an actual 9-1-1 call about just such a situation. I used to be the director of a call center, and collected such stuff. I had the recording, and over the years it got misplaced. It was hilarious!

This song rings soooo true..... Back in the 80's I lived in the mountains of northern Arizona.... One night about midnight I come around a corner on the highway at about 60mph to find a herd of Elk in the road.... I'm telling you I had to do so fancy driving to get through those 10 to 15, 6 to 8 hundred pound cousins of Bambi with out hitting any, and I did except the one big cow standing at the edge of the road , decided to jump just as I came bye..... Caught her right in the head, laid her out colder than a mackerel in the middle of the lane.... Well I backed up, put my flashers on and got out to check her out.... She was glassy eyed but still alive and still out cold..... I couldn't leave her in the road like that, if someone hit her the wreck might kill someone..... I tried to drag her off the road but she was close to 800 pounds and I couldn't get her to budge.... So I looked through the back of my truck for my rope or my toe chain only to find my Step Son had used them and failed to put them back in the box (as usual) ❗😧 It became obvious that the only way I was going to move her way in pieces..... And if I have to carve her up, she's coming home for my freezer. So I get my knife out from under the seat, and pulled her head back to cut her throat, when that big girl woke up, jumped up, and started running down the road with me hanging on around her neck, dragging me between her legs❗‼❗😱 To scared to hang on and to scared to let go to get stomped with one of those hooves through my chest❓😧❓ She dragged me 300 yards down the road before I could run backwards fast enough to be able to jump to the side without being stomped, and I haven't had that much road rash since I dumped my motorcycle years before...... I've been listening to Ray since I was a kid but I never heard this song until now...... But OMG can I relate to it.....100%❗😎❗

While serving on HMCS Saskatchewan in the early 70's we had a lad who ehen ever he could he had a fishing line over the ships side. He always caught a good sized salmon very quickly. We called him Deer Slayer. When i hear this song i aleays think of him

Funny something happend to us similar hunting in Colorado, we hit a deer coming from town headed to camp threw it in the back of the pickup damn thing woke up pissed we had a horse rack on the pickup it started jumping trying to get out it finally did .I was 16 at the time I'm in my 60s now one of my favorite trip memories lol
