Two of my favourites. Mercer's chin was the deciding factor here. Tommy ran out of gas early, it was something he should have fixed before of this fight.

​@Juni Arthatommy is a VERY hard puncher. He sent guys to sleep with one punch and his signature left hook imo was the strongest and deadliest in hw history. Mercer? He had a better chin, he didnt hit as hard as tommy. Some guys are blessed with a granite chin (mercer, lamotta, hagler)

Tommy should have won that fight. He was on oil based steroids and was depending on to knock Mercer out early. He almost had Mercer!! But by round 5 he was wore out from not training hard enough and all the partying . Tommy could have been a better fighter if not for his life style of women and partying. Ray had a hellofa jaw!!!!!!!!!

Tommy was whipping the shit out of Mercer for 3-rounds. He was hitting Mercer so hard he was farting in the ring. When Tommy couldn't connect the knockout blow and was wore out.... Mercer caught em and messed Tommy up... badly!!!!! It was pitiful to see Tommy lose so rough and mean but it happened and that's history. Still Tommy could have been a much better fighter who could have won the fights he lost if not for drugs alcohol parties and lots of women. Bless his heart for all he did do before his life style ruined his career. With respect to Tommy Morrison 🏆

Few fighters can handle the power they dish out. This fight shows what happens when you can....and when you can't.

I remember that fight well; everything looked good for The Duke (RIP) in the early rounds, though Ray’s ability to shrug off some really hard punches hinted at trouble ahead for Tommy. When Tommy started to tire, Ray caught him w/a few clean shots, from which Tommy never really recovered. Thus, it was that “Merciless” Mercer stone chin that made all the difference. Tommy simply couldn’t absorb the same level of punishment, at least not to the head. Ray had one of the best chins in boxing.

Tommy Morrison was in my opinion the best white heavyweight ever. And I'm not talking about wins, I'm talking about skills. Besides Lennox Lewis throwing the hook to the body and the upper cut to the head, Morrison threw that punch combo perfect. But the king of that punch combo was Mike Tyson. I believe his health and drug issues took a lot from him, I feel he would've made more noise in the heavy weight division🥊

And height does mean something in the heavyweight ranks, both of them were like 6'4 right? And they had a great trainer in Emanuel steward, I couldn't tell you who Morrison's trainer was. Like I said I'm just talking about skills, And he had a good left hook this side of Joe Frazier

I seen dat fight!! That was one of the best fights I've seen. Tyson Fury & Deontay Wilder's era don't compare!! These dudes would've destroyed Fury or Wilder.

Nah, fury or wilder would destroy either one of these two guys. Ray Mercer was a beast, don’t get me wrong. But Fury wouldn’t tire the way Morrison did. Fury would just dance circles around him for 12 rounds, peppering him with that 85 inch reach, then anytime Mercer got close enough to throw Fury would lean on him. He’d coast to an easy unanimous decision, then never fight Mercer again because why do that. As for Wilder, look at how much Morrison was able to get through Mercer’s guard. Wilder would do the same thing, but he hits a lot harder. Mercer wouldn’t be able to last against those punches.

Tommy was getting off like crazy on Ray and he just ate all that shit. Then he came back and destroyed Tommy while a few clean hard shots got in while he was completely defenseless. The ref made sure no one would accuse him of a premature stoppage, Got DAYUM.

This is a perfect example of a corner that didn't pull the plug when they should have and how one fight can destroy a fighter forever.

Tommy was very nice not to throw that Punch when he could have during the ref break up.He held that Punch like Tight Woods does when he gets distracted on his back swing. Rayon the other hand kept hitting Tommy when he knew he was out.And shame on the Referee too
