It's a lot harder to get into the NBA. There's 15 guys in each NBA squad. 30 teams means there's 450 jobs each year. In the NFL theres 32 teams with about 50 guys in each squad, thats 1600 positions. When you factor in basketball is a genuine world sport play all over the planet and there's millions of players from all over the world is trying to get in you can see why they're paid more

NFL players have way less games, a shorter season, no crazy road trips with having long travel times and a game the same day, not as star driven so most players don't have to deal as much with the price of fame, oh yeah and there are way more roster spots in the NFL meaning it is so much easier to make a NFL team than it is to make a NBA team.

I hate when people compare these sports. They both have there beauties and imperfections. You've hit the genetic lottery if you can play either at a professional level. Me personally i think basketball is a little harder to play because your greatness has more to do with your own talent, hence why football is probably the ultimate team game. But i love and appreciate them both. Russell Westbrook is just as much a freak as Odell Beckham. Just appreciate guys.

its MeekProdigy21 nope I thought that too trust me i use to always think soccer made way more money than nba but in reality with the consistent Salary cap raising almost every 3-4 years in the nba things have changed dramatically a regular average player makes more than a regular average player in soccer ! Look at lebron for example 3 years 100$ million back then in 2004-2005 when i was young you'd be getting 100$ million in 5-6 years now things changed dramatically cause of the international success and 5 out of 10 the average North American Child Will want to play basketball so thats 50% of north americans so that means the other 50% is split between Baseball & Hockey & Football & Soccer .. so do the math ..thats preety a small percentage but then again you have a way more of a lesser chance to make it to the nba than any other sport so most of these guys who usually dont make it go try other alternatives before it gets to late such as NFL CFL OR MLB Or they just get a carreer and live normal and happy! But ya now things r different i wouldnt be surprise if 100 years from now NBA becomes the number 1 sport in the world .. but ya NBA Make Big Bank way more than most soccer players

I don't think the lack of contact necessarily makes football the better sport. Basketball requires a lot more talent. I think it also requires more conditioning because it's a fast-paced game and players have to play both offense and defense. Football games are longer, but they don't even play half the number of games of an NBA season. The two sports just emphasize different things. Football is more about strength and power. Basketball is more finesse and dexterity.

Reason why the NFL can't have 82 games a season is because football is such a physical sport, most guys can't even last 16 games. Just because basketball you play both offense and defense does not mean you are more conditioned. The length of a basketball court is 94 feet length by 50 feet wide. While the length of a football field is 120 yards (counting endzones) by 53 yards wide. Sure you may not run the whole length. But most plays do go longer than the length of a basketball court. To be able to receive/give hits is something to condition for. Because once the defense/offense sees you huffing and puffing, that puts a huge target on your back. I do agree that basketball is more finesse. But football has another mentality.

If you compare football and basketball with each other for one game, then I can honestly say that football probably has way more wear and tear on your body. But the schedules and amount of games are really the true measuring stick in this case. An NFL team with it's players and staff can prepare almost a whole week for their opponent and then play them usually on a Sunday. An NBA team on the other hand can have 3-4 games in a week and they really don't have time to prepare for each opponent as well as they'd like to. And the wear and tear and injury risks pretty much evens each other out with the more amount of games being played. Which is why I think that Colin's point about NBA players resting is some what not well thought out. Better to rest a few games if your sore instead of playing through every small injury and increasing the risk to get injured more severely, pretty much common sense to me. Plus the NBA players have to do all the traveling and playing with a few hours of sleep almost every game.

Lebron could have made Lue play that night. And Lue woulda had to dress out and put on his sneakers. Lebron could have gone if he wanted to, he just didnt wanna travel

Bryce Nolen I have a hard time believing that an athlete who reaches the level of a LeBron James wants to take a night off because he doesn't want to fly one hour and thirty-nine minutes from Cleveland to Memphis. It might be true. Maybe LeBron didn't feel like flying for a little under two hours in a charter plane (they don't fly coach) down to nearby Tennessee. I just have a hard time believing it. I _do not_ doubt that LeBron has more pull than his coach, after all, the team's value went up a few hundred million dollars now that he's back in town. Tyronn would have had to talk him into it but I don't associate elite athletes with poor work ethic or unprofessional behavior. I can be wrong.

I'm a huge Lebron fan, dont get me wrong. I just don't believe that it was all the coach's decision either. I understand why he might not want to travel or maybe he just wanted to spend time with his family, whatever the case may be. I am on Kristine's side though, especially when it comes to the fans buying tickets and everything, just to see one of the best players in the history of the game not even show up.

Bryce Nolen Maybe it was a mutual decision but I believe that the person in charge is the coach and if he allows his player to make those kinds of decisions it's still his responsibility because that's what he was hired to do. If I disagreed with the decision, and I don't, I would say Lue is at fault because that's his job description. Whether his arm got twisted by LeBron or not. He knew what time it was when he signed that contract.

The difference is football is easier to play than basketball. Randy Moss was the most talented football player we've ever seen but even he had to bow out when he matched up with top talent in basketball Many basketball players like Gates, Clancy, Big Ben, Gronk, have gone on to be stars in football but very few football players could make that transition

He's not wrong about what he's saying. Even if the games for basketball have less rest time its not like he's saying to go play while injured, he's saying to go support the team on games. Even while injured you can still sit on a bench and watch or give advice to others while watching. Just going to a game to support the team isn't a huge deal and its not like it interferes with rest time so I don't see why nba players can't do it

How many countries plays NFL football, vs other countries that plays basketball. NFL rosters are bigger than basketball, some players on special teams barely plays 10 minutes, and if they make a great play, they make the most of it celebrating, cuz, they don’t get that much airtime/playtime, to be noticed. Basketball players has more opportunities, to be seen, or talked about. The NFL is trying to expand the game globally, how’s that progressing. What’s the reception like in England, having games there.. Are there people gravitating towards the game.

Football players suffer the most damage. Even more than boxers at some point. The constant head trauma. Injuries. Broken bones. In the end they retire broke, and broken.

No they don't. Boxers suffer way more damage than any NFL player. There are no pads or helmets to protect you from punches. You obviously don't anything about boxing.

u cannot compare the two basketball player played more games in a week.unlike basketball both offense and defense get to take turn they are not on the field at the same time so they gets in between breaks.star players or starting lineup in the nba barely could sit 2mins on the bench

It is a softer game... Yes, they work hard to in order to perfect their craft. But as Ray rightly said, there are so many more games so the weight of each one is far less than in the already more physically demanding NFL. In the NFL every play is so much more magnified increasing the intensity of every collision (crunch bowl). For this you're paid (relatively speaking), minimum wage... The grass appears much greener on the other side.

NBA players are paid more because there is a lot fewer of them. Their salary gets shared between 13 players instead of 55. That's a huge difference. They also travel to 41 away games per year and have an 8 month season. Obviously football is harder on your body, no question there. But I wouldn't say the life of an NBA player is easier than and NFL guy.

not to mention NBA players indeed play 8 months a year instead of 5. More games = more revenue, add to that that they are less players and boom. ofc they will get paid more

Basketball is also a more comfortable game to attend and watch , due to being a indoor game . That’s why the NFL endorsed more indoor stadiums. Watching a game in sub-zero weather is not advisable. Also , due to the nature of a game that results in massive injuries means a shorter time of investment in NFL players

I think though an nba player is more likely to get traded and multiple times in their careeer which is way less common in the nfl. Unless you’re named Brandon Cooks.

i think bastekball in general requires more skill then just athletic talent just like soccer.... nfl is alot more tactic and athletic orientated imo not saying you dont need certain skills for certain positions in nfl but i think basketball and soccer require more finesse skill rather then raw athletic talent
