My guitar instructor in college played with Ray Charles. He once told me about a time where he had forgotten his pass and security at a venue didn’t believe he was Ray’s guitarist. At the same time he was arguing with security, Ray was being walked past them. So my teacher says “Ask Ray, he’ll tell you who I am” Without thinking, the security guard asks Ray: “have you seen this guy before?” Without missing a beat, Ray says “I haven’t seen that man a day in my life....yeah that’s my guitar player, let him in.” 😂

Jamie Foxx really committed to this role by gluing his eyes shut throughout the filming of this movie, which is awesome imo. I think after a party or after filming, they accidentally left without him on set, forgetting that he couldn't see.

At this point I don’t even see Jamie Foxx anymore, all I see is Ray Charlies. A true embodiment of what an actor should be. A complete transformation of the soul.

Very few actors who portray a musician can give you chills like Foxx did as Ray

The Hit The Road Jack tells you almost everything you need to know about Ray's life. Everything's around him burning, his love life in shambles, drugs have their grips on him, but he cuts through all of that to perfect his music. It's his first and last true love.

He really sounds like the real Ray Charles !! Who's listening at this I'm 2021 with me !! 💕💕💕👌👌 y'all classic !! Much respect !!

It is a 100% true story, Ray Charles himself said that he wrote the song in the spot one night when they finished the set 20 minutes early so in order to fulfill the contract he played What’d I Say on the spot. After playing it couple more nights he called Atlantic Records and told them he had been playing this song on the road and that they needed to record it as soon as possible because people were going crazy for it.

jamie foxx is the most talented human being ever lived. He can act like an oscar winning actor, sings like a grammy award winning artist, and a world class comedian

As someone who had a heroin addiction I could tell you first hand how horrible it is and how hard it is to get off it. The withdrawals are nothing you could imagine. It's like the flu, a head cold, and a stomach bug all together, and multiplied by a 1,000... for him to get off it and still be incredibly talented, successful, and dedicated to his music is astonishing
