Often when watching Maggie I mute the sound and just watch her body move and contort, her facial postures ebb and flow with the music, even her eyebrows have a story to tell. Very entertaining!

I bet my mom had just about every Ray Coniff album. Probably played just about every day when I was growing up in the 60’s.

I first heard this song in Bangkok in 1968 and it always takes me back to a cab ride with a beautiful girl. One of my all time favorite songs. Thank you.

My Late Father Really Loved This Vocal Version Of This Song, And Had The Ray Conniff Singers Album, Which He Would Play, A Lot, On Weekends, When He Was Home, And He Also Loved The Paul Mauriat Instrumental Version, When I Was A Youngling Back In The Late 1960's . . . 🙂 I Actually Played The Longer Paul Mauriat Instrumental Version On KZread 2 Days Ago, So This Is Beyond Amazingly Weird, That Maggie Reneé Would Decide To To Play The Vocal Version, Which I Haven't Heard In Over 45 + Years Here . . . What Amazing Timing, Regarding Re-Hearing This Version, Which I Had Completely Forgotten About . . . :-) Thank You Maggie Reneé, For Reintroducing Me, To This Forgotten Version From My Childhood, Which Hopefully, My Late Fathers Spirit Was Able To Hear Here ?

Its been a long time since I have heard the vocal version. The Ray Connif singers were so good back then that had several hits. As others have said, the instrumental is the one I remember hearing the most since it came out. The instrumental got me hooked on the sound of a harpsichord. I just love that sound. Thanks Roy!

I remember this song. I was just starting to listen to radio and my next neighbor mother had an 8 track and we listened to it when driving from SF to Sonora CA to stay at their cabin.

Ray Conniff, Percy Faith, Hugo Winterhalter, Mantovani, and Ray Charles (the other one) sold tons of easy-listening vinyl back in the day.

The Ray Conniff Singers did numerous really good things back in the 1960s era. Songwriter Conniff's work was simple and straightforward but at the same time quite beautiful and engaging. Loved your reaction and analysis. 💙

Wow. The Ray Coniff Singers were a staple of 1960s radio. If I were one of the singers I don't think I'd appreciate RAY CONNIFF in huge letters and "and the singers" in tiny text to one side... Anyway, like others who've posted here, I knew only of the Paul Mauriat orchestral recording, and I think I'm glad. it was far more musically interesting to my twelve-year-old ears than Ray Conniff having everyone sing in unison (modulo octaves) in the verse and doing the same simple harmonies each time through the chorus. Give the Paul Mauriat version (TIL he didn't care for the song!) a listen.

The Paul Mauriat follow-up was "Love In Every Room", based on "Meme Si Tu Revenais" ("Even If You Come Back"), Claude Francois' 1965 hit.

The album you showed is called Honey....If you are in the mood for a heartbreaking story, check out Honey, either from this album, or the most popular version by Bobby Goldsboro, who had one of the most unique voices ever, but WARNING, this is your official tissue alert! One other note, Ray, Lawrence Welk, Mitch Miller, and that lot used to advise their singers to sing with a big smile, no matter how depressing the lyrics. It made for some disonnance from time to time.
