The poor kid only has been playing the piece I think I heard her say for 2 months. It's why I never became a musician but you know how long it took me to learn the first movement of the mendeelsohn? For those haters out there learning is a process. Everyone is in a different stage. Perhaps people are expecting more of a polish before this level of master class but look at the age of the kids in this master class and yes i know you have your prodegys. It's not a master class at curtis. If you take lessons every week the teacher hears every week, all stages. Every stage is worthy of getting advice to move on to the next stage. Obviously someone saw something about this girl and knows something about this player to send her into this masterclass. Yeah, I guess she should have brought a piece that she had been working on for long He says good things about practicing correctly. I don't practice smarter not harder I think the this lady has musicality Also - Ray flexing with her instrument

I want to know the age of these violinists and how long hey have been playing so I can compare them to myself and either get an ego boost or have my ego completely destroyed, I’m fine either way

When he took her violin to check if her bow was well rosined or if it was her violin... he played just enough to hear different timbres and colours. Then rosined the bow and re-checked. Listening to a master play can be a huge inspiration to your own approach to playing.

I strongly disagree. I have learned so much from his Master Classes. Just talking about technique is not as helpful as demonstrating technique.Playing longer passages gives her an idea of how the piece should be interpreted. And his suggestions for practice are really helpful. Ray has experience playing this concerto for many years and his knowledge is invaluable to students.

What is wrong with you? You just like trolling for fun? This girl is a student. That means she is still learning and perfecting, something violinists do their entire lives. For her to learn this difficult concerto and play it for Ray Chen is an accomplishment in itself. I urge you to upload your own video of this piece so we can all benefit from your superior ability and technique.
