Well I'm not a big fan of E-bikes but this one Totally changed my mind about them 👏. What Liked about this bike is the "power Assist" giving by the motor which makes Riding off road a lot easier + All the riding modes helps in Maintaining a longer life for the battery depending on what Mode you're using. But I really liked it 💖.

Personally, I think this IS the one e bike that covers all the ground, road, off road and commute. I am 62 and tool up e biking just over 2 years ago with a Cube Acid Hybrid..I am hooked. I have ridden well over 10,000 klms and climbed over 50,000 mtrs this year. Last Saturday, I rode over 100 miles around The North York Moors with nearly 3000 mtrs of climbing. I am now looking to upgrade to the ultimate e bike. This Canyon Grail ON is it...It beats the Specialized Creo E Gravel bike hands down. BUT we have to find a way of persuading the regulators that limiting motor support above 25 kmph is truly ridiculous when I can descend without pedalling at 90 kmph. If you want a keen older GCN supporter who rides an e bike to help you guys out with tests I am dead up for it. E cycling is NOT cheating, it's e nabling and I can make it as hard work or as relaxing as I like. Paul Moore on Strava where you can see what I have been doing. The Canyon Grail ON is the future for serious all round e cyclists...I wish I had one...

As someone who has an artificial leg and therefore has difficulty with the short steep climbs found offroad, this bike looks like it would be amazing. I'm pretty sure I still wouldn't beat Powers, but it would be a lot more fun and allow me to ride in areas that I find physically too frustrating right now.

I talked to an older man in his 70s and he said he was about to give up mountain biking because he couldn't keep up anymore and it was too taxing on his body. He bought an e-bike and now he can keep up with the groups have a lot of fun and not stress his body so much. E-bikes are amazing for older, disabled or simply unfit people. The tech just needs to come down in price, it still is too cost prohibitive for alot of people.

I got a Grail On: last week and rode it up into the mountains around Boulder, CO. IT WAS MIND BLOWING! After riding the Specialized Creo/Evo, its clear to me that the Grail On: is a superior bike because it has 1) a far better cockpit set-up, and 2) the power range is clearly better for gravel hands down. Best electric gravel bike on the market. Super fun, you’ll have a blast. From a 70 year old bike racer.

Big mistake I'm in my 60s now and 20 kg heavier than I was 10 years ago its 12 miles to work with 850 ft of climbing so it took me just over an hour and I was knackered all day then had to ride back, and thats on a nice trek 8000 mtb so I bought a grand canyon hardtail emtb now its 40 min to work I can ride hard on the way home and in the last 3 weeks I've lost 1.5 kg ..the cheating remarks I've read here are not helpful to encouraging people like me getting back into cycling.

I think using a dropper post on a road bike can definetly improve aerodynamics and improve speed and stability while descending. I ve used it on long descents in xc races, And could get ahead of the back with out even pedaling And it is safer than sitting on the frame Would be interesting to see an experiment.

My commute is only 14km there but has 160m of decent climbing. I do this 13 days in a row and then have two days off. I only work short hours whilst at work but i do walk a few kilometres. Here is what I have found at 40 years old. Pains will typically come in one leg only. These pains are usually in the form of extensor tendinitus at the feet or knee trouble. When the first symptoms present, I put more power through the opposite leg and spin more. I also cycle out of the saddle and keep cadence as high as possible. After a few days the pain typically goes away. If hills are too problematic, then spin an easy gear and push your leg down with one arm all the way up the hill. I don't know how much additional power this offers compared to an e-bike but it feels like an additional motor. Also, if you do suffer from foot issues then loosen up your cycling shoes. Works wonders... As for burning off smug ebike riders. This I'm afraid I cannot help doing. Especially when they give you that smug look. I'm usually dead by the end of it but the satisfaction I get when I look over my right shoulder (just the once) is worth all my pain and then some.

Hi Carlo, frankly I love my new Canyon Grail:ON bike and I'm really glad that I bought it. In order to keep fit, on mainly road riding, I have actually elected not to use the Bosch motor for about 95% of the ride time and only use it when I really need to i.e. going up steep hills, which is say 5% of the total ride time. There are four motor settings and the most I've ever needed is the second TOUR setting, which is more than enough to meet my needs and saves battery life. When using it like this, I can go out on quite a few rides of say 70km each, before even thinking about charging the battery up again. The bike feels very sturdy and weighs in at around 19kgs. Clearly the bike was very expensive, but to my mind, it was totally worth it! The only thing to consider seriously is who will maintain it for you, as there are no Canyon dealers even here in the UK?? Fortunately I can cope with most bike repairs, although if anything went wrong with the Bosch motor and gearbox, then I would probably have to send the bike back to Germany for repair. Just in case, I have kept the shipping box that it originally came in. Hope this is of some use, but please ask if you need anything else? Regards Paul

I get the appeal of gravel bikes, and I get the appeal of e-bikes, but I don't understand gravel e-bikes. If you're gonna have a motor, why not just get an e-mtb? It's more capable, and you're not as worried about weight or aero if you have a motor.

If you've got that extra help and a speed restriction (in most parts of the world), what use is aerodynamics and weight in a bike that's significantly less comfortable than say, a very practical touring bike?

I was considering an e-gravel bike for commuting, since it´s about 50/50 asphalt and gravel, and i´m riding a cross country mountain bike right now. But the 25kmh speed limit is a deal breaker. It´s mostly flat terrain where i live, i can consistently hit 25kmh even without electric assist. The electric power would be useful on particularly windy days, but I´d have to derestrict it to see any other benefits.

I work just as hard as on my Tarmac, I can just go farther, faster in the same amount of time and effort which opens up more routing options for me to explore. If I was riding the same loop on my Creo as on my Tarmac then yes I'd be getting much less exercise, but I want to ride more because I can see more, hit more climbs/descents, and it's more of a rush going 23mph through the countryside than 16-17mph

I have a Creo, not as powerful but more appropriate whilst riding with a non ev group and even though it is labelled an Evo is in my view a fantastic tourer with 50, 80 or 120 miles depending on level chosen using the bottle extender battery I think anybody who buys this type of bike will not be disappointed and even though quite expensive to buy, i have ridden 3000 miles in 4 months and I love every minute I would advise anyone thinking of buying this type of bike, buys with a range extender facility
