    Mahle x20 hub is 400w peak hub. 40w could be 10 time smaller

    Gravel bikes are so cool not gonna lie. They’re the middle ground between “fast but not very durable” and the wonky thicc mtbs.

    Just a clarification - Femke was found with a "doped" bike in her posession, but she wasn't caught actually riding it in a competition. Not saying she didn't do it, but she wasn't caught doing it. So actually, no one has yet been caught in the act of cheating using mechanical doping.

    When I heard the discussion of the best placement of motors on the bikes, I thought of @MarkRoper and his youtube channel. I bet he can determine the best placement of motors on/in bikes. Have you seen his squirrel and glitter bomb videos? It is interesting to hear about the motor doping rumors since these pro riders soom super human. Yes, they are amazing to watch and see their accomplishments.

    Back in the late 80s when I started cycling I remember going up and down Glendora Mt.Road/Ridge Road to Mt. Baldy Village quite often in high school to augment my Cross Country training and I never had a braking issue. Even then I had a very entry level Nishiki which wasn’t as good as entry level bikes of today. So I’m not so convinced of how superior disc brakes are. That being said I think if were to build a road bike with rim brakes I’d definitely go with aluminum rims. If I were building one with Carbon rims then go with a disc brake setup. In regards to a “2 in 1” bike I think they’re great. I live in Colorado and if I’m on a dedicated road bike and see a cool, quiet (no cars 👍) gravel road that has maybe a little sand or gravel I’m not going to take my road bike but if I’m on a gravel bike, I’m good to go. I’m not limited and let’s not get started on all the mounting options I have too. Also what if there’s no room for a second bike as well as the cost😳. Basically for most of us a gravel bike is a great option.

    You don't need to fit the grub screws in the brake shoes. Campag don't even have them.

    I've been riding the same 18 mile loop, once a week for around 25 years (amongst others of course). But this loop is my comparison one. When I bought these tires, I excitedly put them on my bike and noticed immediately that the wheels spun about 2% faster. When I rode the 18 mile loop, I got home in 58:12mins. (It's a bit hilly). Honestly guys, it's unbelievable. These tires were so fast I went about 7 minutes slower than my best ever time. But that's because I was wearing my short socks, not the aero ones. And there were some roadworks on the road near Shincliffe so I had to stop at a red light. When I went around the corner near the Esso garage, a bus was coming the other way and I had to brake suddenly because of how fast I was going. Needless to say, I stopped so fast, I went forwards over the handlebars. These tires are so awesome, I'm going to start spelling them "TYRES". Just wow.

    I tried hand sanitizer on my brake disc thinking it was just alcohol but discovered some hand sanitizers have moisturizing oils .

    Femke Van den Driessche, a Belgian ( not a Dutch) former cyclo-cross cyclist, mountainbiker and road racing cyclist. became the first cyclist to officially be charged with mechanical doping, which arose from an incident that occurred at the 2016 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. On 26 April 2016, she was retroactively banned from the sport for six years.

    Sisal twine to floss the cassette cogs. Cheap, effective, and easy to find. A roll lasts a few seasons.

    Soft bristled paint brush = perfect waxed chain duster. After that task, it can be used to knock off a lot of dust and light dirt, especially around wheels, spokes, cassettes, mech.

    Well the real question is how long it will take for the big component companies -- Shimano, SRAM, etc -- to develop their own internal gear hub systems and offer customers their group sets as two options: two-derailleur or one-derailleur

    I'm unsure how easy it would be to get something like this past the eyes of many many educated observers. As with any sport, cycling has a lot of people fanatical about the tech, and anything slightly out of the ordinary becomes news within hours.

    The main difference is the amount of cogs. 12 may be unnecessary (although...), but less than 10 make the steps between them too big, and one can't always ride in the preferred speed and cadence.

    The word “doping” refers to the effect of dopamine on the brain. There’s no such thing as mechanical doping. You guys do too much dope.

    Nonsense.... Motor doping, or mechanical doping, in competitive cycling terminology, is a method of cheating by using a hidden motor to help propel a racing bicycle. The term is an analogy to chemical doping in sport, cheating by using performance-enhancing drugs. As a form of "technological fraud" it is banned by the Union Cycliste Internationale, the international governing body of cycling.

    Why the hell would I spend so much time? Just fucking buy a new chain. This is ridiculous. The guy puts two hours on a chain that cost 20$. Most of you would be better having this expensive and valuable free time and just get a new chain. Jesus

    I'll bet 99.999999% of people who ride bicycles couldn't name a pro biker let alone care what bike components they may or may not be using. Excluding Lance of course as we all know him as the sly fox who won 7 tour de France races. Otherwise all other pro bikers are pretty much unknown to most. I could be wrong though. Love your fix it channel :)

    I'm not too worried about my bicycle getting stolen. It is quite scratched up from 20 years of wear, slightly torn seat, chewed up luggage rail and mismatched replacement parts. If my bicycle is among the most beat-up-looking ones in the area, thieves will hopefully not bother with it.
