I haven't read through the comments so someone may have already said this. My husband works on cars and said he thinks whoever worked on your van forgot to torque the control arm. He said he's seen it before, the final thing needed to do is the final torque. People get in a hurry and install everything including the shims but forget to torque it properly and then everything starts to loosen and the shims will fall out. That's his best guess.

Anyone being judgmental about her treatment of Frank needs to take a step back and rethink their priorities. They have no idea how much she gives to this dog and has kept it healthy for years. Armchair quarterbacks who think they know everything and are judgmental, should go watch videos of paint drying. This is real life and Amanda is the best dog mom for Frank. For those of us who have been watching for years, we can testify to that.

Great to hear Frank’s foot is healing - you are such a good mum to him ♥️ I live fulltime in my van with my Kelpie x Jack Russell x Cattle dog in Australia and we enjoy watching your adventures, so many awesome lakeside camping spots. We love we get a mix of vanlife, camping, hiking, meal ideas, campfires and van mechanics and more. Love to see that video on your past hike vs this one and how you’ve been preparing behind the scenes. I have a sprinter and good honest mechanics are hard to find but I too have just found a great mechanic after 4 years of searching, and when your vehicle is your home a lot more is riding on it being safe so we need that reassurance it’s in good hands. Enjoy the rest of your time on the island.

100% we have them on our cars and the deer just stand and watch. They are Bell brand, ultrasonic and easily stick on the front of your bumper. I've seen them on hoods too. Got them at Canadian Tire

The best way to avoid anything including the critters is to not focus on them😮 the law of attraction is real and true and critters are one of the easiest things to manifest out of fear😮 I want manifested a thousand hobo spiders 30 ft from my door😮

oh you are such a great dog mom . I'm thrilled to see you out hiking on your own. give Frank a big hug ❤ Re back pain- try a small tennis ball under your feet. Roll foot on ball every morning. It's crazy how alignment and feet can cause so many problems.

Thank you. I use my wellround balls for foot massage as well, and I wear exclusively zero drop and mostly barefoot shoes for natural gait and alignment.

Great idea having an experienced mechanic work on the drum brakes. Like everyone says, they don’t make ‘em like that anymore and most current mechs probably haven’t done too many drums, if ever. Glad to see truck, Frank and of course Amanda on the mend!

I would love to see your previous trip to that beach. I think you should not let the comments about Frank when you leave him bother you if there are negative ones. You have shown us all….all the time…..how much you have Frank’s welfare always in the forefront of your plans. Wonderful vid….love that it was a long one. Hate that you had the bad mechanical stuff with Truck, and that is awful that people you trusted let you down that way

FRRRANNK eatin Popcorn.. Mmmmm 😋😋. As a lifelong Home mechanic and Precision Mechanival assembly technicion of over 20 years, the suspension on yur Van is super familiar. Ive owned many Chevy trucks since i was a teen.. Be pro-active Ananda. The roads you travel and living in it def will keep you safer. I was shocked to see that upper A arm with no shims.. super dangerous. Grrrrrrf!. But if this mechanismc on the Island can do the service correctly, let him. Guys like that are rare nowadays... Ya know, I can only imagine the "comments" you get when you leave Frank to go do things. I am an avid outdoors lady, and I am also a dog lover and owner. As they age, it is hard to leave them behind and continue on adventures BUT, I did find my health and physical abilities dwindling as I stopped going as much, as to not leave the dog behind. I am an older woman and letting my fitness go is no longer an option. I have an older dog now and she can't do what she use to be able to do, so, I do both. I take her on outings and I also go solo where I can push myself more and keep and improve my physical and mental health.

I think at the end of the day I am a better caregiver for Frank when I look after myself as well. Leaving him for a hike is essential for both of us and I make sure to create adventures for him as well.

Yes to old footage and memories

Those smooth rocks around your camp site and fire were so beautiful! Omg, that hike to the other side of the island was inspiring.

A family member has EDS and her body hurts daily. What helps, when her lower back hurts, is a massage not only there, but her buttocks and legs, insisting on the back of her knees. But pain and muscle relaxant pills help when the pain is too much. As for the hip, do you sleep more on one side? I was told to sleep on the left side because of Gerd, but after doing that for a while, the right side started to hurt. After realising what was happening and sleeping on both sides, the pain went away. Love your videos a lot, they relax me, and give me a sense of joy and calm. Have a great day!

Frank looks like a senior dog but he looks healthy and happy so just keep doing what your doing with him you got this.

😆 I worked hard when he was young to condition him to being handled, carried and tended to. I felt like it was essential for his safety and it’s ended up being really helpful

Hey, here's a potato frying tip I learned from my old friend Nick. Do everything just as you already do, but put a lid on them to hold in the steam. They will cook up so much faster if you hold that heat in. And they still get nice and brown.

UGH mechanics. So hard to find a good one! I drive a 1997 Dodge B3500. I take months long trips, but have an apartment, too. I have not yet found a mechanic I can trust after owning my van 6 years. I do what I can myself. Glad you and Frank are healing!!

I love the smell of a good wood buring fire, too. but over time, the smoke is damaging to your lungs.

Could you get a custom silicone boot made for him? A fairly thick one that you could roll off and on once his foot is fully healed.

You have the proof as to what they did at the shop you first went to, I would press charges for endangerment and theft of service because they didn't fix it. I would get the mechanic you love write it all out and go to court and get some money out of it. God only knows what could've happened and places like that should be shut down. I'm so upset.
