Raw Craft with Anthony Bourdain - Episode Thirteen: Dominique Ansel

In this episode of Raw Craft, Anthony Bourdain and The Balvenie spend the day with James Beard Award-winning Pastry Chef, Dominique Ansel at his bakery in New York City. Watch as he creates a custom Hot Chocolate infused with The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Dominique takes Anthony Bourdain through his process of crafting some of his favorite famed deserts. His creation of the Cronut®, is his signature croissant-doughnut hybrid pastry, drawing lines around the block each morning. Prepare to have your mouth water. Episode directed by filmmaker Rob Meyer. Music by Michael Montes.
The Balvenie Distillery alliance with craft is a result of the brand’s choice to embrace the old way. Balvenie is dedicated to the process of using the five rare crafts of Scotch whisky making to create The Balvenie’s distinctive taste and exceptional quality. It is the only distillery that still grows its own barley, malts in its own traditional malting floor, employs coopers to tend every cask, a coppersmith to maintain the stills and a malt master to ensure the resulting spirit is consistently excellent.
Warehouse 24 offers its members access to exclusive events, early notice of new product releases and insight & knowledge from The Balvenie’s team of craftsmen. Join here:us.thebalvenie.com/warehouse2....

Anthony at 11:18, regarding heartbreak; this was so prophetic ; hard not to be choked up; days before his death, Asia, 42 , his gf, was seen strolling hand in hand and cuddling journalist Clemente, 28, after Anthony, 62 had said in interviews how much she meant to him. This betrayal by Asia with a man 32 years younger than Anthony, must have been a gut punch. Shame on Asia, Anthony deserved so much better than her.

you can see in his face at 11:39 as he's thinking back to his own first heartbreak how much THAT heartbreak from 40+ years prior affected him still. Look at the real emotion in his face, and what did he do - he reached for a drink to soothe his spirit as he jokingly talked about being depressed. (yes i know it's sponsored by The Balvenie, but i also know he chose to drink at THAT moment) I can only imagine how difficult it would have been for his heart to have been broken by that paparazzo photo of his girl with some other guy. I was going through an awful breakup situation around this same time and i don't know HIS own pain but i do know the pain is very, very real when you are full of sensitivity and emotions and you learn the one you have given your heart to has changed and there is no going back to the love you had.
