I daily an 83 vf45 magna and I love it. It's such a good time. The thing will easily cruise at 90 and I've got it up to 125 on route 66 in Arizona this spring when we road tripped 1900 miles in 4 days. It can hang with my buddies 2018 Harley just fine. I got stopped at multiple gas stations with old timers telling that they had one back in the day. Good times

The trick to keeping those hoses soft (As someone with a OEM 88 Magna), Come winter time, coat that bike in WD-40. Avoid your brakes obviously, but coat it top to bottom and put a painter tarp over it. No bs, mine looks brand new still and will back it. The carb removal is a PIA no doubt, but otherwise the bike isn't too bad to work on. Its finding parts that will break ya.

I had an 84. I really missed that bike. But it was so hard to keep it maintained if anything happened to it. They really need to revised one and bring it back on the market. V-4 motors were a power house.

The cops where I was from had the v65 magnas and they used my friend and I on our 750 sportbikes in the late 80s. We were scared of them because they were so FAST in the city and we'd always have a terrifying experience losing them. On the freeway though, we'd lose them without much difficulty because of maneuverability and top speed. I really wish that I had one of those magnas today. Badass cruiser, they accelerated just as fast as our top of the line 750 sportbikes of the era.

My dad had a Magna in the early 80's, burgundy. I used to ride with him in front on the tank to go up north. He said we'd always stop at the same store on the way to pick up milk, Cocoa Krispies and peanut butter. Mom would come up later on in the Camaro. I fondly remember watching the Zilwaukee bridge being built over Saginaw (Michigan) on our ride up I-75 and burning my leg on the pipe when trying to get off it one time when I was big enough to ride on the back. Dad told me there were some days he would have to take the bike to work in the middle of winter, driving very slow with his legs out to the side to keep himself steady (we lived in the middle of Flint at the time). He still has an old Magna belt buckle laying around somewhere and I think I saw a key for it once. I look back on it now and wish he had never sold it. I currently drive a '22 Honda Super Cub, but if I ever upgrade, I might look at one of these :D

These machines are way over engineered ( in a good way though, like a fine German Machine. ) From a guy who owned an early Magna for ten years …. Don’t sell it !!! Trust Me, you will regret it. You will not get what it is worth to your soul. I still pine for my Magna.

Bike looks great dude! I've got a '95 RC43 Magna (rare here in the UK) and I love it but I am envious of the extra power of that version, and the shaft drive, six speed and centre stand. Seems like a more complete package.

Whyle the Magna was fast when it was introduced, the V-Max stomped it in 1985 with a 145 bhp V4 engine, and first stock motorcycle to reash the high 9 second bracket in the quarter. in 1980 the magna was fast no doubt, but modern 600cc bikes like the YZF-R6, ZX6R,, etc blows the decals off it now. The 2009 YZF-R6 had 122+ bhp, and a top speed of over 170+ mph.

I stopped watching it early when you passed on a double yellow line. You give all motorcyclests a bad name. That's why a lot of motorists hate us - and we have to deal with that. I have an 83, yes it's powerful and fast but that's what makes it so smooth at normal safe speeds. I imagine you rev the engine too for no reason at all. You can't ride like this. Get a dirt bike and go off into the woods.
