@@jfdb59 the issue of making someone down, I believe, is irrelevant here. I just wanted to celebrate the energy he possessed at 90, which indeed is rare for that age group. In that respect, it is the power of music (and fine arts as well ) which can teach human race to 'live' a life. Don't misinterprete it.

He says "I don't trust my memory", my goodness, how it would be if he did! look at him playing! Amazing, a true jem that will live forever in his music.

So much he had to teach...if only one would listen...to become...enlightened. The message he delivered thru music...Love, Love of Oneself and Love amongst us all.

After seeing Ravi and his daughter in Chapel Hill NC a little before 2011 I am convinced the Great Ravi Shankar lives on thru his most beloved student and his music her music their music lives in our beating hearts..Listeners and people with great appreciation for sound music and Life..Thankfully Ravi was recorded so all is not lost ..He was a young 94...I had deep grief and concern for his wife after his death it just isn't fair...His daughter lost her favorite musical influence how terrible...we are never prepared truly when a parent does...My love them continues to this day grief softens and love usually saves the day... Hearing the flute and sitar give me hope...I love music..I love sound...

His heart was so full of love watching his daughter play with him. What better gift he had playing with Anoushka. That must be heart loving to the 9th degree.

there wont be another Ravi Shankar because there wont be another Alauddin baba.. We dont have Guru's like baba anymore.. and we all know that 'Guru bina gyan nahi pawe'... the musicians we are producing are not even half of what we produces till 20th century..

I recently had an urge for hearing sitar music and the first thing I listened to was monsoon (which was great) but I now needed to hear more and I decided to listen to Ravi Shankar, this performance has been a wonderful banquet of sound from start to finish, amazing :)

By the way i'm very pleased to rise this honour of seeing this absolute master ritired in glory and highness. Thank you God.

I was at SFO for Pt Ravi Shankar Ji's 80th Happy Birthday concert with his then very young daughter Anoushka. Lovely memories indeed, :) The concert was full and packed.

ओम शांतिः शांतिः शांतिः 🕉 Master of masters! Not have a single word nor I can able to fill the feeling to describe how the serene human being he was and still living with the divine music 🕉☮️

Anoushka's flowering in the last 12 to 15 years has been the musical joy of my life these days. What STYLE does she play? Umm... all of them. At once. Of course daddy gave her a brilliant technical foundation, but it's her utter FEARLESSNESS that astonishes me. SHE IS NOT THE LEAST BIT AFRAID OF HER FATHER. Holy cow.... Reminds me most of the recently-departed Jeff Beck, and the recently-quiet Mahavishnu Johnny-Mac. Add: 48 minutes in, they start in on OCTAVE and HARMONY dueling-sitar stuff. THAT is the first time, ever, that anyone so DARED. There are LAWS against this stuff! Gots the boogie in their soulses. Add more: at exactly 55:44, Li'l Noushi decides to smoke daddy's ass. That's quite a lick there. And Ravi, and Tamnoy, LOVE it, the torch is passed.

Unbelievable. Supreme music. Thanx for the upload.

You hear The words " Master of his craft". But rarely do peope get to see it live. This is the example. You can tell. He is playing all 2 hours waiting for everyone, even his baby to to catch up and get ready for the fast part. Lol. And the whole time he could be composing 5 songs in his head as he plays. Ravi Shankar could have done this is in his sleep. But was not one to miss all the fun. And you can see the Joy in her face every once and a while. "Awww dang. The old man still has new tricks I haven't seen."😅 It's beautiful to see that connection on stage 😢

Just to hear Ravi's voice in the intro I ascended, then the music began, OH what an ethereal plane I am transcending to. Beautiful beyond comparison, a world full of love. The light shines upon us all, we have become just from the notes of this amazing music. Ravi, ever since George Harrison introduced your music to the world in the late 1960's have I been devoted. Through you, more people of the world have been enlightened to the message...Love of Mankind. He hasn't passed, through his music he will live forever.

first time i watched this lengthy music concert on youtube , and my anxiety and bad mood all just gone write after 5mins of listening ,,, sooo soothing and pleasing .

He is Gurudev! Although he is forced to play that version of the real instrument, I can see in his eyes how he is missing the real Sitar!

Ravi Shankar, always innovating, always evolving and ,of course, his daughter is very much part of this process. The karnatic stylings and the understated quality were cases in point. His Yamen draws much from the Karnatic Kalyani.
