As a westerner and amateur musician I'm probably missing some 95% of the contents of this fantastic performance; the nuances of melody and rhythm, and the structure of the pieces just escape me. Still the 5% left is enough to fill me with joy and awe.

I am learning sitar but have got addicted to listening to the Maestro, dreaming I wish......

As a Carnatic Classical Indian musician I must say this is not even 5 % of our classical repertoire, although its quite appealing to listen to. Kulur Ravichandra ,the flautist ,has much more to offer than what was presented here,and the same goes for the mridangam & tabla vidwans. I fervently hope that audiences watching this dont go home with the feeling that this is our best.,or Ms Shankars best.

Whatever sells, works in India. Otherwise, it doesn't and remains a niche. And how would people find time for something like this, when they are fighting to make ends meet. They would prefer something much simpler.
