Phoning in the balance and taking shortcuts also hurts them. Homeworld 2 was notorious for having broken AI that would drop everything to target your capture ships (making a core game mechanic useless) and scaling each level against the player's persistent fleet.

@@cnlbenmc Don'tn know if GW redconned it, but in earlier Editions of 40k the Imperial Guard actually HAD Ratling Sniper Squads as an option. OK, they looked more like underfed dwarves with bushy whiskers.. but hey... ;)

The point of "giant mole cavalry" obviously needs to be the ability to TUNNEL THROUGH to the opposing trench!

I totally get what are you guys saying but still, people create crowdfunding projects to get funding for the actual development of games. Of course, they could show some small demo but still how would that demo even convenience people to crowdfund them? You won't be seeing the full product and by that, i mean complex mechanics and the 3D Art, you would be just seeing programming mechanics and a bunch of placeholders, if you're not a game dev then you won't be even able to know if what they made is complex to make or not. For me personally, trailers and 2D art are enough because i know how much effort it takes to make them.

If they want this to happen they can work at it while keeping a day job till it's good enough, but I can no longer bring myself to give money for a promise. It's just where I'm at now.

Lol, yeah, I get the playful burn on Arch, but "Furry" goes far beyond the modern fandom and stretches all the way back to ancient Egypt (Look at their deities) and perhaps to the dawn of man itself. I know it's a bit of a pain to both type and say, but anthropomorphism is widespread in almost every human society...we're all furry to some degree, colloquialisms like: fast as a cheetah, sly like a fox, stubborn as a mule, tough as an ox, ect. permeate human culture, while technically a kind of reverse anthropomorphizing, it does tend to generate those kind of thoughts when interpreted in our mind's eye imagery...

@@sephiroaone-of-nine101 well I disagree, because I don't like my units to shred in seconds if I don't look at them for more the one second and if they couldn't take any hits you would need a huge amount of men to even attack a fortified position and it would be hard to contol such a mass of man and Mico manage their unique unit abilities. Unless there are just two types of Infantry this wouldn't work well. And why do people get angry about retreating units just take opportunity and start a counter attack and capture the unprotected terrorists after they retreated

@@sephiroaone-of-nine101 nah simply not true. The problem is, like in any hardcore game, It sounds better in theory then in practice. It seems like the modern gamers mind thinks realistic game equals good game and unrealistic games only exist because the game companies are boring and bad people who have no idea what players want. That's not the case. How much do you enjoy Arma, War thunder or any hardcore full loot pvp game? I bet it's fun at start but gets very frustrating very fast and you usually don't last long in that game after you died three times or one hour of gameplay and no, it's not just me it's a big fact that most players act that way. Back to RTS, it's already challenging to hold multiple fronts in CoH but it is possible because you can let stand your units behind a sandbag wall and expect them to survive for some time till you planned you next move to counter the other flank, now imagine you can't because they don't survive. It's simple impossible to play on that small scale of commanding units. In this case you should play on the, like you said, "grander" scale perhaps army scale? But such battles feel more like chess matches and I am sure you're seeking for action with as less frustration as possible, that's why CoH units are bullet sponges and the retreating ability exists. A realistic RTS would not consist of much action but building your army just to throw it into a meat grinder and repeat. Boring gameplay with not much action nor tactical freedom besides the option to frontally attack or flank.

Sounds interesting, but Console versions and first-person-controlable units a too much of a red flag.

Apricate the Death Korps of Krieg music in the background. An excellent match for a game like this.

looks interesting even though i'm far from a fan of "rat" theme. Kinda a shame that it seems like the "allies" counterpart is all mice (if it's meant be multiple countries), maybe they will be different breeds of mice though, i'll have to wait and see. Still a bit of a let down when comparing to the other 2 factions (roaches and lizards). That said, I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

As a German I had to smile seeing these names in 7:51 because Anbieter means something more like the supplier in the meaning of economy aka the seller, Medizin littery means medicine, also Schwer doesn't sound appealing in anyway in German because it's an adjective and can't be used as Noun. But the other two names are fine.

I give it a week before they Judas the hell out of Arch. Just watch.

Looks like Arch gets his dream combination of Kriegers and Skaven!

The customisation aspect reminds me heavily of Warzone 2100, where you literally built each and every unit in your army based on the chassis, transit method and the armament. You could make a wheeled, light chassis MG or a hulking heavy tracked arty, or a zippy light weighted rocket artillery, or a hovercraft auto cannon or a goddamn flame throwing VTOL. Your imagination was the limit, as well as the base building component

Personally, I'd rather they really make the single player real solid with a good story, then move on to carrying that over to multiplayer, with maybe a co-op option.

really cool concept, they somehow made rats and cockroaches fighting each other not feel overly goofy the ww1 aspect looks promising, big fan of finally seeing ww1 rts with trench warfare and so on

Eternal Crusade definitely wasn't what we were promised, but I still think it has quite some charm, although admittedly the community is likely a big part of that rather than the game itself.

Not gunna lie mixing MOW with COH sounds pretty amazing. Hopefully they include something similar to the GEM editor. I have spent most of my men of war play time in the GEM editor

You know l'd love to see them make some shoutouts to the og evil rats. (But we all know GW)

If an RTS ever had the ability to "research" technology and manually create what weapons and vehicles your armies can build would be amazing. Making a slider for "time to train troops", the longer the training the better soldiers they are, but it takes longer to make those units. Add the ability to conquer territories, maybe the number of battles to conquer a territory are dependent on the size of the territory and the numbers of enemies there, and it would be the greatest RTS ever made.

This kinda reminds me of Tooth and Tail to a degree,all we need now are factions consisting of bears,wolves, turtles and mabey a bird faction. Like an Asian inspired Panda faction and wolf mercenary faction or something like that.

This, this gets all my money. And I mean all of it. I am ALL IN on the kickstarter, all the way to the bottom of the pledge tiers. I would have never known about this if not for you Arch. It'll take a month or three for the disposable side of my money, not the necessary stuff but definitely what I can spend is cut down for the rest of the year. But I'm a single man in his 20's with an apartment working a solid paying job. I can support it and I have been waiting for something like this ever since I played Men of War. I want to see it not just succeed but absolutely thrive. I want to see it burn as brightly as the flammenwerfers it promises and live as long as the modding teams of Men of War and Empire at War. I want to be involved and man, the setting, the potential, the design, I know it's a big IF on if it'll succeed on fulfilling it, but I am going to support it as much as I can. It would be heartbreaking to see this fail. It has so much soul to the ideas, the world, the design. Your advice has not steered me wrong yet either, and I am incredibly hopeful for this project. I also might end up part of the VA team.

120K isn't enough to make a game. That's like having 5 McDonald employees or 2 unrealistically ambitious devs making a video game in a year (before taxes and Kickstarter takes their cut.) Most of these campaigns make broad promises to recieve short term funding from a wider audience than the finished product would actually be able to sell to before they manage to get big money from a publisher. Kickstarter thrives on hopium.

rats ? I see that the developers are scared of the Nazi label so they instead puts in rats heads instead and calls it a day. I do hope that it can be modded as I want to "complete" the game so to speak by modding in human heads

This game is suppose to be a parody of WW1 so it can pull steampunk and science fiction infused unit design. Also, Germans werent nazis in WW1 so the label wouldnt even apply here, it would have to be WW2.

F it why not! I love a good RTS or a fascinating game world and this looks to have both. Hoping they get the stretch goal cause I’d love a campaign based as weird Cockroach Tzars with no scruples

If this gets to production I will be excited cause we need a game like this.

I too really want a good RTS game again, and this ticks so many boxes, but after my disappointment with Iron Harvest, I can't be overly optimistic. However this does look like it'll be fantastic if they can pull it off.

I wish we had an italian themed faction but this is extremelly powerful

I mean he said lizards and cockroaches were also in the game. Jokes aside, yeah Italian steam/diesel punk sounds cool.

We need a good rts like this. I could see other races being in here to. But I'm and quite excited for this

Interesting game there Arch. That reminds me. You showed a few videos a while back before your channel was temporarily taken down. It involved mice and rats and actions were dictated by cards. It was also something of a side-view perspective title, like a sidescroller game. What was that called again? Also, Since this video is on rats; there is a tabletop rpg that might just have your attention. It's called Pugmire. Basically a game about dogs and cats. It was just announced, however, there will be a new expansion and two new playable races. They just so happen to be mice and rats.

I wish someone made a game with the art style of Maus
