Rationalize The Denominator
This algebra video tutorial explains how to rationalize the denominator with radicals and variables by multiplying the numerator and denominator by the something that will eliminate the radical expression in the denominator. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems on simplifying radical expressions.

Thank you for helping me figure out how to rationalize fractions with more than one term! Slogging out through Pre-Calc.
MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor ,thank you for another fantastic video/lecture on Rationalizing The Denominator in Algebra. This topic is helpful in Trigonometry and Calculus.

yes i loved it
quick tip: remember that some teachers would prefer decimals to be expressed as fractions, so 0.75 is worse than 3/4
i love your videos they help me so much! thank you!
Cam you pls explain why did by root x instead of 2root x
Sir, can I reduce to lowest terms the 20 and 14 in 20+√2/ 14?
i cant find a solution for 1:30 but instead of 5 its x, and instead of rationalising i need to express it in the form x^n
6.8=48. so it shd be 2 cube root of 6 over 4 .. then simplified as cube root of 6 over 2..

same here.......my answer is also cube root of 6 over 2.....
This your first video I've watched and did not get clarity. Otherwise, the other ones I've seen are clear enough to make anyone understand Maths, so thump down for me this time around
wait wwhy all of a sudden are we multiplying by 4y instead of the same number^2 like in all the rest of the problems??? how am i supposed to know when to do that or not do that?

4:18 how it become 4y² from 2y?

If it's a square root, I think. If it's not I have no idea.

since the square root is cubed, you need to get 2 more of each number to get rid of the radicand. In order to do this, you have to multiply by 4, which is 2^2 since there is already one 2, and y^2 which is just 2 more of y^1 because you want to take it outside of the radicand. He just expressed 2^2 differently.

It's not becoming 4y^2 he's multiplying it by 4y^2

Sir, at 3:59, i think thats not yet the final answer. You can still simplify it
@YouAreParadoxical
Жыл бұрын
Agreed, totally! I think it is still possible to make a square number out of √48. It's four, so √48 = 2√12, and then you multiply 2 by the existing number 3, which gets you 6√12. If you turn it to decimal form to verify, square root 48 times 3 is 20.7846096908, and you get the same result for 6√12. Good luck, by the way, is this high school math? I'm in 5th grade and just want to verify.

Nope you are wrong, Yes It can be simplified, but like this: = √48/4 = √16x3/4 = (√16 x √3) / 4 [Root of 16 is 4] = 4 x √3 / 4 [4 and 4 cancel out] = √3 is the correct answer!!!!@@YouAreParadoxical

At 3:59, the final answer should be cube root of 6 over 2
Why 2 squared
cube root of 48 over 4 can still be simplified
At 6:34 you wrote “z to the 3rd” it should be “z to the 7th” maybe slow down and be more gracious in all things even outside of math😇
I just realized that he wrote a 3 instead of a 7 on that one example 😂
Mistakes: Z power 7, and |XYZ|

It's only the absolute value if it's _even_ roots. The _nth_ root of _x_ to the _nth_ = |x| only if _n_ is even. This should hopefully also answer Joshua's question.

✌️
1:00 in this example you take sqrt(x)*sqrt(x) to be sqrt(x^2), but this only works if x is positive. sqrt(x)*sqrt(x) is (sqrt(x))^2 which is just x
