I just always found him a funny and mysterious character that does illegal deals with Ratchet, sellin' him guns/upgrades and gettin' bolts in return, it's just that detail that shows what the characters are about in this universe; money, power, respect, Ratchet himself had a level of respect and knew how to do business with criminals under the scene through arenas, races, (joinin' the hoverbike gang) buyin' upgrades from Slim, a weapons dealer/criminal in hidin'.

I don’t like how the RYNO Salesman and Slim are the same person in the reboot. Preferred him as a pair of eyes. Adds to the mystery of his character.

That was my favorite thing about UYA, having a GC save gave me free OG weapons. The Mini Rockets was a nice upgrade in UYA, especially since they teleported as you upgraded them, making Ratchet OP and protected, since the rockets followed their targets. Yeah the Plasma Coil was great as well, especially Mr Fig giving his regards.

I like that one of the most OP weapons in R&C 2, the Plasma Storm, was also one of the best weapons in R&C 3

Slim Cognito, the best character in the franchise. This is my first time playing the Ratchet games, I'm only two games in and I already love this guy and his voice.

Slim saying the upgrade was "Courtesy of Thugs-4-Less" implies to me he'd be selling you their weaponry, not that it's some sort of gift from past enemies.

I like Slim Cognito, I also have two small theory's about his appearance. He could be some sort of shapeshifter. Or the other theory would be that he can extend his eyes. I hope he appears in the new game.

“He appears when we need him” So he is like the Marchant from Resident Evil 4.

R.e. The Gadgetron weapons in Ratchet and Clank 2... I have a few things to say. Yes, the Tesla Claw and Visibomb are largely useless late-game... HOWEVER the Decoy Glove basically allows you to snap the game in half on certain levels, since the enemies will always look at the Decoy when it's behind cover and NEVER attack you... EVEN when you're standing in front of them! The Walloper, while weak in terms of power, has one great use: you can launch enemies off of ledges and insta-kill them with it because the knockback is huge! It's a lot of fun! And as for the Bomb Glove... the Mega version in Challenge Mode can - I am not kidding - 2-shot EVERY Medium-sized enemy in the game! It is ridiculous! It's a great way to get the expensive weapons early on, and for dirt cheap!

Insomniac representative called SM "canon" to not upset the game's fans. Change my mind.

Slim's "Yep" also sounds really cool. I always liked it as a kid.

Few different theories about Secret Agent Clank: 1) Clank decided to start his own secret agency after the events of UYA and used the show as a coverup. Just like Jet Fusion did in Jimmy Neutron. 2) It’s a movie that combined reality and fiction. The only conundrum with that would be Qwark’s attitude. Though he may have gone for it since he is always doing things to help his career. He even became an actor after Tools of Destruction with at least two movies under his belt. The Smuggler is wearing a disguise. His eyepatch keeps changing places, so it’s just to make him look cool. He’s very shady and I could see him playing cards with Slim.

Never realized just how much innuendo went into Slim until I replayed the game as an adult. That is to say, literally every line.

plot twist: slim cognito is actually the plumber, and he uses a voice changing device. They are never in the same spot, and they are always watching the duo.

Slim Cognito really came in clutch in the original games... I missed his presence in Gladiator/Deadlocked, wish they included him somehow.

If they confirm that 9:47 then what we've been saying for years, has always been true. Another theory can be, that SAC takes place between GC and UYR, especially since Clank's show wasn't introduced until UYR, otherwise, it all definitely does take place in Clank's head, in between R&CFTOD-R&CFQFB or R&CFQFB-R&CFACIT.

A better crackpot/joke theory that makes sense is that Slim Cognito is a Lombax. He's (probably) old enough to remember Tachyon's attacks, so he keeps everything other than his eyes obscured for his own protection, and because his skills might be limited to weapons development, he might stick to modifications, to avoid coming on the radar for making new ones.

Totally forgot he existed! I miss him and the plumber being more in the games. Honestly i miss the humor of the old games.

I also like the idea of the Smuggler making a reference to Slim in a future game. Maybe vice versa as I could see Slim returning in a game that takes place in Solana where while buying stuff from him, could say he's heard a lot of Ratchet and Clank's recent adventures from a "mutual connection" in Polaris.

I also like how slim cognito and ace hardlight got referenced in Tools is Destruction when we were breaking into the zordoom prison. Too bad we didn’t get to see them though.

Slim Cognito is a low key dealer. The Smuggler might not actually care much. Smuggler seems more capable of escaping even with a mugshot, or at least wild enough to not care about being seen in public.

I found out who Slim Cognito is! I was playing Remake from the first game, until I took the last RYNO card, and it appeared "Go to Rilgar to get RYNO with Slim Cognito! I explained it better on my OnO channel At the time I was excited! Insonmiac thought it could hide from us, but I did!! 😎😂

wouldn't surprise me if slim was a series of people all using voice mods to sound like the same guy

Conspiracy theory: Slim is the smugglers parrot.

One thought that came to mind, and it’s full of plot holes but what if slim is a AI without a body. It would explain how he can “pop” so quickly around multiple galaxies. He just uploads to a nearby, pre-planted bot. It would also can explain how he knows so many people, he simply invades there tech and watch, over hears, and gets involved in all groups. One little patch, he “lets” himself get captured and imprisoned, from his cell he can just “leave” the bot he’s in inside the prison to continue his business. That way officers will think “well it can’t be him, we have him captured”, so he can always make the heat disappear.

It’d be nuts for insomniac to not divert back to the og games and bring back old characters for the ps5

My head cannon of the slim vidcomic is that since those vidcomic made Qwark look bad it would make sense that Qwark had those vidcomic destroyed but a guy like slim would have connections and since those vidcomics would be prized by collectors and so slim had someone steal some copies and since the vidcomics lack a narrator slim just decided to add the voice acting himself

About Secret Agent Clank. To this day I see many fans confused over this, so i want to clear up. So, firstly the known details. SAC takes place between Size Matters and Tools of Destruction, but the story doesnt add up to the games. Not like Going Mobile, which is in fact not canon, the creators [confirmed](twitter.com/insomniacgames/status/818609388260716544) that SAC is an movie/episode in the R&C universe. But what about the original Secret Agent Clank story from Up Your Arsenal? Ratchet is a character named Jeeves, but in Secret Agent Clank he is himself. That doesnt make any sense or does it? So here comes my headcanon to clarify this, which is not canon now but i think is a good explanation. Before Deadlocked, which takes place after Up Your Arsenal, Ratchet isnt really that famous like Clank. Sure he saved two galaxys and one of the them two times to this point, but couldnt get really that famous like Clank through movies. A comparison would be like Saitama from One Punch Man which does saves his planet from multiple big dangers for 3 years but isnt known, while Amai Mask, another hero, who is famous through movies and concerts is widely known and beloved. But now Deadlocked happened and the whole galaxy sees this badass gladiator and even wants merch from him, like Vox stated. The creators of the Secret Agent Clank movies want to use this hype, so they want to make a remake in which Clank saves this badass gladiator which the whole galaxy loves. So after Deadlocked R&C do a vacation in Size Matters (which go wrong and they end up saving the galaxy again) and then they make a remake movie/series in which Ratchet is not Jeeves but now himself, because of his gladiator fame from Deadlocked.

Buying from Slim really felt like doing something illegal

I'd say, more likely than not, Slim Cognito got the Vid-Comic script and blackmailed Quark into voicing his lines.

Did you know Secret agent clank IS actually canon, not just from its mentions in Tools of destruction, but in A crack in time, one of the pop up trivia states that nefarious originally named his Zanifar outpost the “Klunk memorial outpost and work camp” though do to legal disputes with clunk’s lawyers he had to change the name XD

I love your take on the depths of this lore. Slim Cognito is a cool character, I'd say regarded as highly and in a similar manner as the Dark Merchant on RE4. Have to say too, that glory hole joke went way over my head too when I played this as a youngster 😅 "Insomniac, you Naughty Dogs" I see what you did there LOL! 😆 Insomniac and Naughty Dog are friendly too 😉😜

Slim remindes me of a Veggie tales character

I think its practically canon that the Ratchet and Clank 2016 game is a re-telling of the events in the first game by Captain Quark. So a large part of the story is canonically fake as it was modified by Quark to make himself look better though a lot of people already knew most of what happened so he couldn't change the major failings. The change in final boss was probably to downplay his failings as he technically did beat Dr Nefarious in the first game. If I remember correctly, canonically captain Quark hid in the women's toilets of a burger joint while Ratchet and the planets police/defense force wiped out Dr Nefarious' monsters and then Dr Nefarious didn't actually put up much of a fight.

2000-2003 was a strange year for gaming for Naughty dog and Insomniac huh? Slim cognito, Seem, Damas, the plumber, all very interesting characters for their games.
