A lot of Ribbenstrop's stuff, papers and personal items, was packed together in a hotel in southern Germany from which this stuff was looted.

The allies came in, and used the houses and would've taken everything they could as trophies. Imagine how much stuff is out there, that families don't even know they have, or that's worth anything. Great program, very informative.

Wow I’m blown away by these great historical items. I remember walking by them at sos.

You show a visor cap at 14:50 that is an Allgermine with an apparant Army eagle. My father brought one home with him as a souvenir that had the same setup as that, and I was told 30 years ago that it was incorrect. My father was a tanker in the 3rd armored , Spearhead, and had 3 bronze stars for Normandy, Norhern France, and Ardennes.

There's always a bunch of moron quote-unquote experts. My dad brought home a German medic helmet painted. Some guys told me it was fake and some guy told me my dad painted it during the war so he had something special. More of these "experts" are wrong more that right.

There’s a lot of period photos showing all kings of non typical insignia worn by SS. Collectors today say it’s incorrect but if it’s from a solid source I don’t consider it wrong.

"How did he amass such a huge collection?" Umm..because back then, you could buy SS visors at the freakin 5 and dime. Nobody wanted the stuff. That's how a retired school teacher amassed a multi-million dollar collection that will now go to auction to be bought by some other septuagenarian dealer/collector.. Stop kissing the assess of these older collectors. They ruined the hobby for everyone else.

If not for them collecting this stuff and gathering information about it, it wouldn’t be around or available today. In a pre-Internet world these items were not easy to find and collections were built with great effort over time. This hobby is built on the shoulders of early collectors.

One thing..the tiger 2 was an awful tank..too heavy poor transmission and mostly broke down in the field
