Rare, Pretty Vintage Girl Names You Don't Hear Anymore | SJ STRUM

** Subscribe For New Baby Name Videos Every Monday! **
(Sorry this starting cutting out for just some viewers last night so I'm REUPLOADING! Watching from 7:50mins if that happened to you - no idea how!)
These are some gorgeous Rare, Pretty Vintage Girl Names. I looked at baby girl names that were popular in 1900-1940 but not so much now. I hope you love them as much as me. I get so excited to unearth names and represent them to you all - maybe I can convince you on some of these making a comeback? If Matilda, Margot, Agnes and Elsie are back - how about these? SJ xxx

My Grandma was one of 7 girls all born between the years 1918-1937 and you have featured 3 of their first/middle names so I love them all for that reason. For anyone else interested in names from this era they were/are called: Grace Margaret Ellen Lillian Mabel Muriel Constance Marjorie Ethel Ruth Miriam Joyce Enid Gwyneth Mavis My great grandma was also called Rosina and Great Aunt is called Heather so I have absolutely loved this video! Thanks SJ xx

I’m naming my daughter Constance, that was my great grandmother’s name and she was the first person in my mother’s family to welcome my father into the family with open arms, everyone else hated him (because he came from a rough background and didn’t make a lot of money at the time). But when he met my great grandma Constance for the first time, he extended his hand to shake her hand, and she said “oh you stop that, come here!” And gave him a huge bear hug, she adored my father. Not only that, but she was also a very bold and determined woman. When she was 17 years old she ran away with my 20 year old great grandfather Alvin to get married, she was almost disowned by her father for that. Oh how my great grandpa Alvin adored her, he completely doted on her, never raised his voice once at her even when they argued, he brought her flowers every Tuesday, and he absolutely adored their children. Their marriage lasted for 67 years until Constance passed from cancer, and we were all shocked that Alvin didn’t die of a broken heart. He followed her to Heaven ten years later, in 2013. I’m planning on naming my daughter after her great great grandmother Constance, Connie for short ❤️

I would LOVE a babyname list all about Rose names as you mentioned in this video. Love all of your babyname vids... I have been obsessed with names since I was a little girl (I would check out a stack of babyname books from the library and just make lists and lists!). We are expecting our seventh baby (good thing I love names eh?!) at the end of Feb 2020... and if it's a girl, a Rose name would be lovely. I am OBSESSED with your videos and have been binge watching them all for weeks now! 🥰😍

my favourite vintage name is Fauna. I've only seen it used twice once in a "interview with sound in the 1920's to elders" or something like that and a true crime case from the 1910's (lol) although it's also the name of one of the sleeping beauty's fairies and one of the jointed twins from the addams family is called fauna too. definitely using it in the future ❤️

My grandmother's favorite author is Maud Hart Lovelace, who wrote the Betsy-Tacy series of books (an author and series most comparable to Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Little House on the Prairie books). I think all three parts of the name are truly beautiful, and they flow together so well! I just had to share this when I heard that the first name was Maud.

don't know if you can see the comment on yesterday's upload so there you go: Joyce is so popular here in Brazil and sounds so modern to me. I'm obsessed with the names Theodora Sage and Eleanor Rose (I'm a Virgo so yeah I do have a pattern haha). If I had to name two girls today those would be the names, However I think Maud is beautiful as a middle so it'd definitely be on my list. I love Millicent too and I'm pretty sure is Barbie's middle name (Barbara Millicent). I loved this video, you know I'm a vintage freak lol I wish I had an old lady name, Matilda maybe ? (funny enough I was named after my grandma but Leticia is really modern haha She was the only Leticia in the 30's). P.s: what a cute guest I think you should keep her. And I can totally see her as a Marigold.

I love all of your videos but this list was super as I'm really into classic names that are still unique today so my children aren't in a class full of kids with the same name. My husband and I love watching the Tinkerbell movies with our kids and our favorite fairy is Rosetta, and we joke that if we had a 4th child and it was a girl that would have to be her name so Rosina was a great take on that Rose-ish name too.

My grandma is very into genealogy and one time we were sitting on her bed going through some books or notes (I don't remember the source honestly) of people from our family generations and generations ago (since my grandma knows how into names I am she thought it was be cool to look at all of the names) and I saw the name Patience and I just fell in love 😩😩😩 I know virtue names were pretty popular back in the day... like WAY back in the day... but I have been holding onto that name if I ever have a girl. Not sure how practical it is but I love it so much! And Patty as a nickname is so sweet, especially since Patricia is my middle name and I was named after my aunt Patty who actually tragically passed away just a couple weeks ago. Just the thought of a little Patience being called Patty makes my heart melt 😩😭😂

Hello! Love your videos! We are foster and adoptive parents. I came across the French girl name Yvelise that I researched showing it’s height of popularity was in 1950’s. There is also a Spanish version. I found pronunciation on KZread. I really need to know more. Is it a “made up” name combining Yves and Elise or was it a stand alone name? Meanings? I am considering if we adopt next baby girl! It looks like it would sound like a double barrel name which would be great since we are in southern USA. Also, I go by my middle name, Yvonne. So...

My grandma's name was Marjorie Lee but she hated her first name and just went by Lee. Even when she died she had us not put Marjorie but just M. Lee instead in her obituary and little name stone. My middle name is Marie Lee after both my grandma's, so I assumed I'd incorporate them when I have a daughter, but now you have me wanting to use Marjorie and call her Margo or Joie or something. My grandma would be so angry at me if I used that name and I know the nickname would become Marj (which we don't like), but Margo is so precious!

Aw, your daughter is so sweet! So, I'm trying to talk my husband into the name "Eowyn" from Lord of the Rings for our expected girl, but he thinks it's too strange! I really like the sound of it, plus I just love the character of Eowyn from Tolkin's story (and the movies) she is such a beautiful balance of feminine, gentle, loving as well as also being brave, strong and fierce! I love that she lets herself be venerable to others, which I think a lot of us don't do these days, but she also can protect herself, and others. One of my favourite women in literature, and I think you could use "Winny" as a nickname. I really hope I can talk my husband into it more! I haven't ever heard the name used outside Lord of the Rings

J Benedicto-Mullins Cordelia is one of my favourite names. You could maybe have just Elise as the middle name, if you liked that sound? Or Eliza?

Rosina is gorgeous! Heather is very 80's (the movie Heathers) but without that connotation, I love it. It sounds soft and boho.

Whenever I hear the name "Constance" my mind goes to The Three Musketeers 😍😍 I'd love to use the names of my great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, whose names were Ada Lavina and Miriam Virginia.

Millicent has been a favourite of mine since I was a young girl but immediately vetoed by my husband. However we went on to have 3 boys so haven't had the chance to use it anyway.

I know so many Heathers. At least 12. Probably the most popular name for people my age (mid to late 20s) and above that I can think of.

I grew up in a city with two busier streets named Mathilda and Maude. Almost all of these names are in my family - too many to list. I was supposed to be "Heather" but my cousin got it. My mom spelled my name with one "L" because she knew I'd be different. A moniker of mine growing up was Hazel. I love your take on names. Also, well done on your beautiful human, Evelina Blossom, or eventually EB? Smiley emoji!

Also, I hated my name growing up. I wanted to be called "Ann". I'm adopted. My biological mother named me Gardenia. I'll stop disclosing all of this personal information now. Not that it would help any ne'er-do-wells. Cheers!

Love the name Rosina. Mama had a maid after the war named Rosina that they were trying to sponsor for US immigration but she had TB and had go back behind the Iron Curtain. She always spoke fondly of her so the name has good connotations for me.

My great grandmothers name was Maude! I’ve thought about this name a lot but it’s just not feminine enough for me. My great grandfather did have a nickname for her though and it was Maudie which I think is a lot cuter and is on my list!

Nancy is one of my sisters middle names! Her name is Lillia Nancy Isabel and Nancy is after my great nan, I think it’s a lovely name and definitely gaining more popularity because I know 3 other little girls called Nancy! Also one of my best friends is called Millicent, she gets called Millie but I think it’s a gorgeous, dainty name

I love your baby name video’s! Your so sweet & I love your children’s name’s as well!My husband & I are thinking here soon by the middle/end of the year we are gonna start trying for baby #2. We have a daughter & her name is Jocelynn (pronounced Joss-uh-lyn) & her middle name is Anna. Due to my first name being Breanna & my mom’s middle name is Ann. We deff have a baby boy named picked out but we are thinking of a cute girl’s name to go along with her name & sounds good together. Maybe thinking of middle names being either Belle, Sue, Lily or Bree. But can’t think of a first name 🙈 lol. I like to think ahead & get idea’s! Plus I’m having “baby fever” due to 2 of my friends are pregnant right now! ❤️ which I told them to check out your video’s😃 Your amazing at coming up with name’s & I can’t think of anything.... 😂 Please any suggestions? Thank you so much! ❤️

Here in the US, it seems to me that Heather is still on the outward side. It kind of persisted through the 60's-70's before exploding in the 80's, when I was born. I can't tell you how many sisters of Heather, Holly, and/or Heidi I've met, my own family included. I've also been in groups of women with as many as 3-4 Heathers. Keeping track of us can be crazy. As a result, I feel kind of cheap and outdated when I hear my name.

We’ve been stuck with picking a middle name for our baby girl due in March. We chose the First name Vayda but can’t seem to find a middle name that flows well. Any ideas? P.S. we can’t use middle names that start with an A or J due to the issue of her initials being mortifying 😂
