Did you know that actress Lee Remick died from cancer in 1991, or did you think she was still around today? Lee Remick was a Hollywood actress that rose to prominence during the 1960s after appearing alongside Andy Griffith in the 1957 feature A Face in the Crowd. Lee Remick became so good at playing tormented characters on the silver screen that many peers and fans began to assume that the actress actually led a troubled life. Despite her parents divorcing when she was young, Lee had a fairly happy childhood and grew up to be a pretty mentally sound adult. While the actress didn't experience much authentic turmoil throughout her life, this changed during her final years. In 1989, the same year she made her final acting appearance, Lee Remick was diagnosed with cancer.
After receiving her cancer diagnosis, Lee was adamant that she would be able to fight her way through it. However, it soon became apparent that the cancer wasn't going away. Two weeks before Lee's death, the doctors stopped her treatments so that she could die in peace. She passed away in 1991, at the age of 55. Mere months before her death, Lee made a memorable final public appearance when she accepted her much-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When I was 17 years old my mother was working at a very high end restaurant on Cape Cod in Yarmouthport. Ms Remick was there I was so very fortunate to have met her. Her gorgeous blue eyes were like a magnet,so very powerful and hypnotic. She was kind and so generous with her time even though there were other people their. When she died I felt so bad. I’ll never forget that night as long as I live. R.I.P beautiful sweet lady.

Days of Wine and Roses is a Jack Lemon classic. I sadly remember the movie when I was a pre-teen. Lee walking out to the bar touched me even as a kid. Great movie about substance abuse.

You will think I'm putting you on, but I am not. I was there when she got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The pictures really don't tell the entire story of just how gut wrenching that was to see. We all knew that day that she would be leaving soon. She could barely hold herself up, and when she did walk, it was with a cane. But she did it with class and dignity. And we did our best to look happy so not to ruin her day, but when she was returned to her limo and was driven away, I know I wasn't the only one who started crying. As you can guess, that is a day I will never forget. I was 30 at that time of the ceremony, but it would be a few weeks after my 31st birthday that she left us (my birthday is June 15th, she died on July 2nd). To let you know how aware people were that she was my favorite actress, my boss called me into the break room to gently tell me the news that she had left us. My first reaction was "Thank God. It's over." But here it is 32 years later, and you know something? I still miss her. She is an irreplaceable talent. And to think she was only 55 when she left. But we all know life ain't fair.............

When "no way to treat a lady" was in the theaters, my mom and I saw it. Rod Steiger was menacing, and Lee was so vulnerable, I really was scared for her...the movies in those days could transport me...of course, I was only 10.

I always loved her personality and performances. I didn't realize that Lee Remick also had a career on the stage that included leading roles in serious drama and musical theater, with a starring role in Sondheim’s musical Anyone Can Whistle.

Her beauty and movies always captivated me. She played in a movie about loggers. She and her husband lusted after each other and husband died earlier on. The brother tried to save her husband by breathing air into her husband's lungs as he was pinned by a log underwater. Her husband died laughing underwater and drowning. Paul Newman was brother. I remember thinking how the movie set in a panoramic mountain setting was studded by beautiful actors.

Seriously? She starred in “The Europeans” with Frank Sinatra? Never. Does anyone fact check or edit these things because the writing is awful at best and inaccurate at worst. Remick deserves better.
