Wish I had this knowledge when I was shown my neighbors Luger collection in the 1970s. I was just big eyed at seeing several Lugers just like in the movies.

Wow! What perfect specimens of such rare and now getting older by the day weapons and all their gear! So nice to see that other folks appreciate the amazing ingenuity and engineering that went into these things, but then having to function in the worst-case conditions as yet they're still impressive looking! 😊

Admiral Raeder was in charge of the Kriegsmarine in the prewar years, not Admiral Doenitz.

Some U boats were lost in the war. Survior guns may be quite rare.

Good gosh almighty that 1906 is breath taking! Everything about it. The condition of the pistol is impeccable, the holster, cleaning rod, vanity plate and I have never seen an adjustable rear sight like that.

Tom Witmman may be the best person to ask about Imperial Navy officers, he has a few of the active officer record books from that time.

We can actually have unaltered WW1 Navy Lugers here in Canada (I think.). I can’t believe they don’t exempt older collectables from the minimum barrel lengths here.

@@haroldgodwinson832 Oh Harold, Trudeau and his supporters are not fascists; misguided liberals yes, but not fascists. I recommend The Anatomy of Fascism by Robert Paxton. By his definition Donald Trump is the closest thing to a fascist leader in North America.

yes. They did, but they have no special markings and therefore there is not a way to know which ones went to the Navy

I have a 2nd Variation Mauser 1934 KM pistol. Is anyone running a magazine exchange to reunite pistols with matching mags? My pistol is O.3952 with one “Banner” mag and one O.4461 marked mag.

Dumb question: Why did the Navy and artillery have longer barrels? I had assumed that it was so that stocks could be attached to use them as carbines at longer ranges, but from seeing the holster, this is clearly not the case.

Why would the holster type mean it can't be a carbine? Looks like the holster is designed to stay attached to the board stock even when shooting.
