@MissieElliot09 Michael had Janet there to repeat the questions in order to protect himself from the journalist asking invasive, humiliating questions. He felt if a journalist knew a little girl was going to have to repeat these questions to her big brother, they wouldn't ask inappropriate questions.

EXACTLY as it was depicted in the biography "The Magic, the Madness, The Whole Story," by J. Randy Taraborelli. He hated interviews. He prefered not to do them, but album promoters insisted that he do them. Doing them in this manner allowed him to be somewhat comfortable, while at the same time drastically sabotaging the interviewer's intentions. Funny guy.

This is the interview that I read in the book where he wanted janet to be with him .. I just adore that man .. Michael is my idol .. I love him so very much .. such a loss to all of us .. cause we lost such a lovely,beautiful soul 🥺🥺💙💙

I agree with the comments about Michael's beautiful voice. It is so strange how he could take on that persona on stage and still remain so grounded in his personal life. I will remember his voice, off and especially on the stage, forever. I will never forget him.

My theory is we all took his existance for granted. He just was always in most of our lives from far as we can remember...we all thought we would have him for years to come. Then he was gone. I think ppl find some kinda comfort by watchin the vids. Thats my theory.

I noticed that Michael is really humble. Even though he is a true genius and he knew it too, he still attribute his success to people around him. He said he learned alot from Motown and said it was the best school for him. I bet that it is that kind of attitude that drove him to achieve more and more in his life. I admire this trait.

I just read in a book that MJ was contractually unable to directly talk to the media at one time, so he recruited Janet to relay and answer questions during interviews. It was his way around the contract - he was not talking to the media, Janet was. Very slick, very very slick. :)

It's not just me...lol. I fall asleep to his voice in the hopes that he will visit me in my subconscious. I'm having a tough time with his death, so I listen to his music all day, and watch vids of his happy times when I get home. It helps me cope.

Michael, during some interviews was known to have Janet with him as a translator of sorts to make him feel more comfortable. As we all know he was after all terribly shy.

It was his way of showing his independence. He was coming into a it's my way or the highway type of attitude, because for most of his life, all the decisions were made for him, whether he agreed with them or not. So by telling the interviewer that it will be done this way, he was bangin' on his chest and asserting his grown up status. To us, it's strange, to him, he was finally in control of his life.

MJ's sounds of voice will be living in my soul for good.

HEY! YEAH! i just commented on the book! I think it's one of the best books I've ever read! A page turner- The stories were always taxing! I admire how well researched and how tryingly objective it was. It made me feel like I knew him! I love the part when he told a Jackie groupie not go to that secret apartment. It showed how good he was and how he respected women!!! OH MAN! my heart is churning! I'm waiting for the very last saga of that book which is after all these investigations!

hi i read that back and it was very good. in that interview janet answered the questions as well and asking michael the questions. apparently it was because the record company made him do the interview and he didnt want to!!

this is the voice that everyone makes fun of but if you hear michael now, his voice is actually really deep and MANLY :D

Going off of what LMETeef was saying, this is around the time that Michael was pissed off at the media and the circumstances with his family and whatnot, so this was his way of getting back at everyone and taking control: the media got their interviews, but Mike didnt have to talk to them directly. He did it this way for a few interviews. (J. Randy Taraborrelli, author of one of MJ's bios, said he was one of the interviewers during this period, but got frustrated with this process and ended it.)

I can think of a couple of other reasons why he might want Janet to translate: 1) It gave him more time to think & formulate a better answer (sometimes politicians use this technique even when they understand a foreign language they like to use a translator to give them more time to think); and/or 2) If he had a mild auditory processing issue (e.g. associated with an ASD), he might have had an easier time understanding family members who he was used to.

I remember reading an article about this a loooooooong time ago. It is Janet that is translating. I think it was said that MJ was upset with the press so he was giving them a hard time and having Janet be there so they could stop twisting his words.

I think this interview was talked about in the book Michael Jackson: The Magic and the Madness. Apparently, Michael did eccentric things at times. In this case, he did not want to talk directly to the interviewer, so he told him the only way he would do an interview is if it was through his little sister Janet. I think the interviewer was author Taraborrelli.

And even though the question to why he wants it like this never is answered, but the author (who met Michael and his family a lot) think that it might have been a way for Michael to take control. Especially since his father and brothers never did as he wanted to. His voice was never heard while in the Jackson 5.
