Magnum is one of my favorite boats. You don’t see many of them....but it’s a real treat when you do!

In the late 80's or 90's there was a boat race from NYC to Miami or vice versa, the morning radio host on WJR was on the winning Magnum Marine. He commented about it on air and said they had a professional chef preparing their food during the race. That's a stable boat.

It's a legendary boat for sure.

I had a 35 Magnum in the mid 80's. Beautiful to look at, expensive to own, and burned 60+ gph at speed. Magnums are heavy, big engine, deep "V" boats that were known as a gentleman's speed boat. The engines ran through a "V" drive to the props. The 50 in the video uses Arneson surfacing-piercing drives to move her through the water. The King of Spain owned a Magnum at one time. Truly is, a family member of mine owns a 1970s 35, great boat. Glides on the water but punches like a tank. Cuts through choppy days on Lake Michigan like it's absolutely nothing.

I'm from Spain and i didn't know that! He also had a 40m yacht capable of reach 65 knots

I could never buy one, but she is a stunner. Great boats Magnum.

Love the Magnum boats! I was about to say it's unfortunate that there's so few of them built, but in hindsight that's even better! It makes them rare and more exclusive for sure.

I been wondering if ANY PT boats come in Haulover, the Magnum 5o do's bring to mind of a PT boat. very graceful, I love this page!

It took just over 50 seconds and almost 30.00 just to get that magnum on plane to Pass through the inlet... Haha he had to turn around and get that right.. lol

Arneson drives - or any surface drives take a long time to get the boat on plane, but when it does it's heaven.

I remember one in an episode of Miami vice. They were in a race I think.

The Great McCarthy. Best MV episode of the series. It was a Cary but damn near the same boat. Cary was a previous partner to Aronow. As far as I’m concerned one of the most iconic vessels ever built.

Magnums are owned by old skool money, mature boat owners…. People with taste! With the size and cost 40 to 50’ sport center console hulls running 4 n5 outboard motors that are poorly located across the transom, not to mention the weight distribution you would think a big diesel sport cruiser with a clean transom and a proper cabin would be getting more love…

Anyone else thinking he was turning back to port b/c of engine issues ? Seems like a lot of dark exhaust when he came about and gave it a little gas to leave the inlet. Then once she was cleaned out, OFF WE GO !

Nothing wrong with those Diesel engines in the Magnum. Those engines are just plain smoky, dirty and stinky. Just the way they are. They are not the clean burning diesels we are used to seeing or smelling today. There are a couple of other regularly seen boats on this channel which also are smoke spewing diesels.

@@stevekiray1676 if those are 8V92’s, than he definitely does not lack for power. I did notice the manhole cover size exhaust poets on the stern. Those engines definitely move some air when they are throttled up. But they are still Smokey and stinky. They are also very loud! They have a cool sound.
