Halictidae is the second largest bee family having over 4500 species and are commonly called sweat bees and are attracted to sweat, mostly harmless but will sting if squished

Yep, native bee species. Poor things, they are being squeezed-out slowly by the imported European honey bees. We love them for the honey they produce, but they are not native to North America. Many native bee species are important pollinators, so it helps them out to provide them with bee-boxes of their own.
Those white bubbly stones--outstanding , It would be a vacation of a lifetime to take a rockhounding trip with you.
Yup I have been there. If you are willing to wander around, you could leave with a bucket full of beautiful gems.
I would recommend wearing gloves. Alot of scorpions, snakes, and tarantula blended in. I was able to find decent amount of fire agate.
Thanks for posting this. We are going to the Tucson Gem Show again this year as buyers for my wire wrapping business. We will definitely put this on our list of things to do while out there!

Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: This is going down as one of my favorite videos. Some of my earliest memories as a pebble pup were of my family rock hunting for these out on BLM land in Arizona. Beautiful rugged vista's and interesting wildlife. Mesmerizing specimens that glow in the UV light! Bryan....great video!

Awesome 👍 I was in AZ spring of 2020 on BLM land... Saddle Mountain... same formations as this site! Thank You For Sharing ❣️
This is why I love your channel, always showing us something different... Plus I love Matrix 🥰. Those Agates are amazing 👍
Another great field trip!! Thanks for sharing!
Great spot about 40 minutes away from my location. Just be ULTRA CAREFUL... rattlesnakes are beginning to come out of their holes and they LOVE hanging out under and around those prickly pear cactus, especially in the morning and evenings. My friends dog got nailed last year that way. Stay safe stay AWARE!

I love those cactus I have a huge one My wife and I found it half dead tossed out on the side of the road here in Oregon. So we saved it and have owned it for years now. Great video Thank you for sharing all your beautiful finds
Bahaha!! I'm glad you made it to AZ. The cactus thorn is your initiation.

The best time to find them is before sunrise or just as the sun sets. Some say after dark is the best, but I like searching for those dark black glass crystals on a cloudy day. But that is the exact spot to find them. I hope you didn't leave without searching and finding some.
Beautiful pieces.
January and February are a great time of the year to check out the Black Hills of eastern Arizona. I can see them from my house. I’ve deer hunted in the Black Hills, there’s fire agate everywhere there!
It's just incredible beauty! Never seen such agates!
Aaw dang. Wish I would known you was in town. Woulda loved to get out there with ya! Didja find any Saffordite while in the area?

Oh my heck. I love those! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before. That white chalcedony is beautiful too. Like piña colada slurpee turned to stone.
👍 Watching your channel 👍 Hello from Virginia my friend 🇺🇸
Great video!!
I have the most beautiful fire agate that has been polished and it looks like it has a rose in it. They are absolutely stunning. I think it's my 2nd favorite next to opal
Those are so beautiful
Pretty awesome video! When i go to places like this i bring a pair of bbq tongs with the silicon tips. The earth really is the best glass blower.
Love Black hills, found some amazing pieces! Would love to know how you clean these. Totally enjoy all your videos!

Those little agates are wonderful but the hunting them in cactus is not fun. So many out there and you really don't need that many. So cute, thanks Bryan and matrix!
“Eyegate” 😂🤣I love it! 👀 🎶 “I always feel like somebody’s watching me...” 👀😆
The WHAAAT word of the day: Bubblicious!

Can I please ask how in the world do you get them so clean??? I can’t get mine sparkling white like yours ! Awesome finds! I can’t wait to get back up there .
Istimewa🎉
My favorite rocks. I love them all fire agates. How do you clean them? Thanks for sharing this ❤
My favorites are the darkest in the center of a loot picture, and going NE from him, first cloudy white one.
Hi Bryan. This video was really interesting. When you showed that large boulder toward the end that had the big seam, are you not allowed to use your rock pick to knock a piece off? I also have a problem telling the difference between calcite and chalcedony. Experience I guess. The differently colors and shapes were beautiful. Again, I’m sorry I’ll have to miss out on buying some but thems the rules in our house right now. Thank you again for a great, informative video. A lot of bending so I’m sure you need some rest. On to the next adventure!
Want to see you go to Oregon and look from some sunstone!
those are crazy!
2:37 Those are sweat bees. They are found in lots of places but are mostly seen in deserts where they find it best to source their electrolyte/saline rich water from the surface of your skin. They hurt pretty bad when they sting. I've accidentally trapped them between my legs and arms when going about my normal business, so I'm very familiar with these little buggers.
Thanks!
Those all white ones look like soap bubbles - very cool.
Good Jobs
The Nopales and Tunas are delicious to eat.
It’s those little fine needles that get you with those prickly pears, got a whole bunch on my arse when I slid down a grassy hillside with one hiding in there, spent a lot of the night with a pair of tweezers trying to get them out!
Good finds. It's Tree sap. Many gemstones and crystals were once "tree sap." The same plasma event that created the grand canyon created and spread crystalline sap across the entire southwest.
Bryan, do you know the geology of that particular area in Arizona? It appears to be just rubble underfoot. Is it from the hillsides? Thank you. Very cool finds by the way!
Do they have bans in them when they are cut or polished? In Australia we have crazy agates and chalcedony. Cool finds😊
Great videos. How do you get them so clean.
Youre brave just lack lustery running your hand across the rock like that off that big vein rock. Id shit myself if a snake would come. out It would ruin my day! None the less I wish i had your job though, if people would pay me to make videos to go hunt my haunts across the country- id be sooooo happy. I dont know how you do it but youre blessed. Thank you for sharing your passions with us.
Awesome. Those eye agates I'd facet. People don't facet agates due to the challenge of getting the faces geometrically identical. However if you have an eyeglass and patience with your faceter then it can be done.
I could only dream about the amount of traveling involved with this profession/hobby.
They look so bubbly

Bryan, are you cleaning them up with something other than water?
Finding a rock on a planet formed of rock is just amazing 😂😂😂
5:50 awesome!
How do you get yours so clean, I soak mine in vinegar and they never look as good as yours. FYI I live in the city of mesa near Phoenix and I know a secret area in town that I collect very similar formations from 🤘
Whaaaaat? It’s a rattlesnake. How cool!
Cedar Sap from the giant trees, just google the sap,. its nearly identical :)

I live in Pa and have been trying to figure out the best place to take friends to find gems stones. None of them have ever went mining or anything. I have, but no where near me. Do you have any suggestions?
Hey again Bryan. So when you talk about “decaying out,” you mean the matrix decays over time, therefore exposing the agate inside, not the agates themselves decaying? So eventually, the agates will fall out? Thanks!
Got any advice for cleaning agates?
Its super funny you know why because at 1:40 you see that the dog: Matrix pissed the “please sign in” bord
what do you clean these with?
Some of the rocks you have resemble something found in the Ozarks called goose fat.
You probably would be very wary when looking at holes in the ground in the Arizona desert as there could be scorpions or black widow spiders or even snakes. Also some types of lizards can live in those small holes. I live in the Mohave Desert in Arizona and always am careful even in my yard.
Eyegate. Great one. 😂 It should be called that.
Similar to what the Armando's sell?
What do you do with them?
@13:37 That's a Seahorse!!! 👍👍👍

Are any of these for sale?

Wife and I will be by there on Thursday. Wife wants to know how the snakes and spiders are?
