Given that the new wolf patterns are tied to biomes, it'll be interesting to see what mojang decides with breeding. They could be like cats and just get the pattern of a random one of the parents. But they could also be like frogs where the baby is based solely on the biome, or like villagers, which has a chance to be determined either by the parents or the biome. Or they could come up with something new entirely.

My theory is that the spotted wolf is based on the African painted dog, the stripped wolf is a stripped hyena, and the rusty wolf is a dhole

@@timohara7717 Yeah, more like an alternative to sheep if you ask me, kinda like the in-game charcoal, an alternative to coal if you never find or aren't willing to mine coal in your area (which, why). Also sheep are basically just domesticated goats so yeah, I'm quite surprised goats in Minecraft don't drop mutton in the first place. Same for Camels as they drop nothing but little xp. How about make them drop not only leather, but also cactus (Camels can eat cactus) other than just xp. No matter Mojang's dumb excuses, they still have in-game features such as polar bears (ecologically vulnerable species of bear) dropping salmon and cod, and parrots getting poisoned by feeding them cookies.

The savannah dogs look like that because the African wild dogs (forgot what they're called) look like that, and they live basically in that environment.

The problem here is the striped wolf is very clearly a striped hyena or maybe an aardwolf, and hyenas are their own family rather than being canines or felines.

The black-backed jackal could match in terms of fur color and markings and it belongs to the Canidae. But the living space doesn't fit at all.

The habitat would be typical for coyotes and the fact that they spawn in comparatively larger groups also fits with their social lifestyle. But the fur pattern is not correct at all.

It's way more of an Aardwold than a striped hyena. (Still related to hyenas).

02:23 oh actually, most animals are dichromats meaning they see orange as green, so tigers would look green, orange cats would look green. Everything orange looks green to all these animals. (all these basically means non birds and non apes) also in 02:57, this is an adaptation to natural light difference. Since the sun is above, the top of the animal looks brighter than the bottom, and to account for this animals often have brighter bottom parts and lighter top parts. That way they look like 1 solid colour rom above and are harder to spot. just so that you guys know

I hope the rusty wolf is supposed to be the red wolf. That is one of my favorite animals. It doesn’t look quite right to me though. I don’t like that hyenas are featured. Hyena’s are not canids. They aren’t even closely related. They aren’t Caniformes either. They are Feliformes

Not really something that quite fits Minecraft’s interaction model. Instead, players can kind of imagine they pet their dog by doing smtn like sitting them up or down. Giving another key a block functionality gets kinda messy.

Honestly, people are asking about the *Complete Dogologue* thing.... I personally would love it if they added it, HOWEVER as a side-branch to *Complete Catalogue* with a joint Achievement after them which would be *Raining Cats & Dogs* "Own every Cat & Wolf type" and it would be the rarity of *A Furious Cocktail*. Then, as a possibly follow-up to *Tactical Fishing* the Advancement *Fishmonger*: "Catch all types of fish with a bucket" And a subsequent Advancement: *Beastmaster* "Own every type of cat, wolf, parrot, panda, fish & Axolotl" Panda would detect on breed, Axolotl & Fish detects on bucketing. This one would be *How did we get here* rarity. I think it'd give some interesting new "All Advancements" speedrun opportunities, but also still give the "Endgame" of minecraft - once *Jean?* is defeated and you have aquired an Elytra a bit more of a collectathon aside from "just" the *How did we get here*
