Man, I clicked like before it ever started. The entire "Breakfast in America" album is a freakin masterpiece. Smokey got it, the song is about being a kid then you get sent to school to be transformed. Rodgers Hodgson is a genius & his vocals are so dang good. Hope y'all do some more of them.

Yes, it is a masterpiece, and the entire album is awesome, but "Take The Long Way Home" holds a special place in my heart. I was in my early twenties when that album came out and now, at the age of 66, that song especially resonates with me. You simply can't go wrong with Supertramp, just like you can't go wrong with Cheap Trick.

Supertramp has some great songs! Try, "Goodbye Stranger", "Bloody Well Right", "Give A Little Bit", "Take The Long Way Home", "Dreamer", "It's Raining Again", "Breakfast In America" (both a song and the title of their biggest album).

Supertramp is an excellent group to get into. A great prog band which has alot of crazy sounds in their songs (as you can tell).
One of the great British bands and one of their best tracks. Recommend their tracks Dreamer, Lady, Sister Moonshine, Another Man's Woman, Breakfast in America and Give a Little Bit.

I still think Little River Band's song "Lady" is better than Supertramp's. I know they're two entirely different songs but I just prefer to hear LRB's
@radicaladz

@@jangles1839 - you're entitled to your opinion. Supertramp's Lady is from their album Crisis, What Crisis?, an album of theirs that is typically overlooked but which has some good tracks.
Supertramp started out in 1969 but they reached their commercial peak with 1979's Breakfast in America, which had their international top 10 singles "The Logical Song", "Breakfast in America", "Goodbye Stranger", and "Take the Long Way Home". and no it not the man you're mentioned. This is Rock and Pop

Roger Hodgeson is one of two vocalists on Supertramp, and yes his voice is similar to Geddy Lee's, but IMHO a bit more refined. Supertramp is usually labeled as a progressive rock band, and they are from the UK.

Supertramp are an awesome band and despite what everyone says their album 'Crime of the Century' is what really started their rise in being recognized by a larger audience. It's more 'trippy' than Breakfast in America, my personal fav is Dreamer but School, Crime of the Century and Rudy take you on a ride.
And now you will have to check out the band, a favorite going back to the early 1970s. So many great songs.
Need to do Bloody Well Right!!! You will love it. One of the greatest intros ever made
I believe Goodbye Stranger was the first single off this album back in the day. Radio station played it all the time. Then I think this one and then maybe Breakfast In America. Take The Long Way Home also got some airplay (great harmonica on that one). The whole album is actually pretty great.
I don't think they had CDs back then. I actually got this album on 8-track! Great song and reaction!
I see many people mentioning Breakfast in America, but their popularity actually goes back to their Crime of the Century album, at least where I live. I think a little Fools Overture might be in line for the next song. Thanks for sharing.

Yes! Crime of the Century is by far something they need to check out! They need to do a deep dive into Supertramp period!
This song is awesome and amazing the songwriting is so legendary i don't know a lot about this band but I'm a fan now take care guys
Sidenote, on live performances, they would end on a big full stop with "B-b-b-b-b-bloody marvelous!" The boys knew how to have fun with it.
The great basin is in nevada and most of utah but includes California (baja too) Oregon, Wyoming and Washington.
One of a handful of songs I heard as a kid in the 80s that I loved the sound of. No idea what it was about until just a few years ago. Radio Avon was the only station we could get on our second-hand National AM radio, and Supertramp had about five songs on rotation on it.
IMHO: One of the most perfect pop songs ever. While pulling off powerful lyrics to boot.
This band is great! You have to check out the song it’s raining again. It is one of my favorites. You guys are great.
Such a great band such great songs. Long way home should be the next song to check out but in fairness the whole album should be listened to
perfect lyrics for that tittle. classic song, genius,🤘🎷🤘
glad you finally got into Supertramp. This song is from Breakfast in america. you should go back in time and listen to any song from Crime of the century: School, Dreamer, Bloody well right, Rudy, they're all good. And the two next albums as well: Crisis...what crisis? and Even in the quietest moment.
Rodgers Hodgson and Getty Lee are both sing in that higher register, but their voices are very distinctive to me, since I know all of both bands material and I've been a massive fan of Supertramp and Rush for 50 some odd years!!! 👍👍Supertramp has a hugh and fantastic catalog!!! Enjoy~~👍👍👌👌✌✌😃😃

He would set several world records as a jockey! Tallest, fatest, most losses.
My favorites out of all their great music is #1 The Logical Song, #2 The Long Way Home, & #3 Goodbye Stranger. What I always took from this song was that it was about the loss of childhood innocence. When you are little, the world is new & magical. Everything is full of joy & wonder. But then you start to grow up, go to school where you learn from adults (& other kids) how to look at your world through different eyes. As you continue to mature, you become part of society & are expected to act, think, & say things a certain way. But deep down you are still an independent person with dreams, creative imagination, & opinions that might go "against the grain" of what you were taught and how others think. It's a song of trying to understand yourself & wanting to break free of conformity instead of being "just another brick in the wall" (as Pink Floyd said). The voices are amazing, but that saxophone is on FIRE! Music from the 70's & 80's & a little bit from the 90's is the only thing I listen to.
I still buy and listen to CDs. Just bought a Pucifer CD last weekend. I like having physical media, something solid in my hands. I get to look at the album art, credits, and sometimes lyrics. Breakfast in America is another great song by these guys. As is Long Way Home.

Miss having records, digital music isn’t the same.
Mid 70’s to late 80’s British band, they had SO many great tracks, and a run of 6 albums that artists today would give their right arm for,for just one as high quality as these boys made in that run.
So many great songs. They are in the prog rock realm. Hugely popular in the late 70'/early 80's. The Breakfast in America album was big and a lot of their songs, like the Logical Song were constantly on the radio. They do have a diverse menu of songs and albums to explore. They were not only great musicians, but their lyrics always meant something. Maybe do Good-Bye Stranger , Take the Long Way Home or Give A Little Bit to name a few. Crime of the Century was their epic concept album and should be listened to from start to finish to get the most out of it. But individual songs like Rudy, Dreamer, School are cool solo too. They had a reputation of putting on great concerts and could play all their songs like studio versions. The Logical Song is about Rodger Hodgson's experience when his parents sent him to Boarding School.
This is such a fun song. Lots of good vocabulary! 😂 Check out “Goodbye Toby”, I mean “Goodbye Stranger” next. 😂
I can remember, just images and this song on the radio in my sister's Pinto. I must've been 4 or 5. Always takes me back. I can even smell that vinyl interior in her brand new Ford.
Great Basin is in Nevada. Most iconic Music trivia in the basin is that Bruce Springsteen’s self titled album features a pic of him at a gas station in Valmy -Just about dead center of Nevada along interstate 80 😎
Check out , Crime Of The Century, Bloody Well Right, Take The Long Way Home, Dreamer, It's Raining Again. Goodbye Stranger, Breakfast in America, School, Put On Your Old Brown Shoes
One of the best songs ever! The amazing saxaphonist wrote this song and the singer is the great keyboardist. They have many great songs for you to check out. : )
Quite the masterpiece, this one.
Better voice than Geddy boys.
Supertramp is a rabbit hole. I had several of their albums back in the day.
Child of Vision from their Breakfast in America album. 😁😁😁😎.
Track 2 from their 6th album, '79s Breakfast in America. I could agree that Geddy Lee and Roger Hodgson are similar in pitch, timbre, register, what have you. I can't agree that the two voices are identical. In a 2012 interview, Roger said "I think it was very relevant when I wrote it, and actually I think it's even more relevant today. It's very basically saying that what they teach us in schools is all very fine, but what about what they don't teach us in schools that creates so much confusion in our being. I mean, they don't really prepare us for life in terms of teaching us who we are on the inside. They teach us how to function on the outside and to be very intellectual, but they don't tell us how to act with our intuition or our heart or really give us a real plausible explanation of what life's about. There's a huge hole in the education. I remember leaving school at 19, I was totally confused. That song really came out of my confusion, which came down to a basic question: please tell me who I am. I felt very lost. I had to educate myself in that way, and that's why California was very good for me to kind of re-educate myself, if you like. But it's interesting that that song, I hear it all the time, it's quoted in schools so much. I've been told it's the most-quoted song in school. That may be because it has so many words in it that people like to spell. But I think it also poses that question, and maybe stimulates something with students. I hope so." Also gotta get to School, Bloody Well Right, and Goodbye Stranger
My high school yearbook quote came from this song. Love it! Thanks for reacting.
They had so many great songs that I can't pick a favorite and stick to it. Their production and the use of instruments blended together are top notch. Two lead singers, both play keyboards among other things. Rudy is a powerful song that really shows what they were capable of doing.
In the 70s Supertramp.. my heros.. Crime of the Century Album .. omg xx ❤ forever
One of the greatest songs of all time ‼️💯🔥 hands down
My very first album, Breakfast In America. Still love it 40 years later!
Before Roger left the band, I saw Sopertramp four times, and they never disappointed. Always a wonderful, lively, entertaining 'live' show. It's so unfortunate they two writers couldn't keep up their partnership. The band was never the same after Roger left.
Wooo yes Supertramp! Amazing band its all good..... cheers

Breakfast in America is on every single "Must own/have" list since it came out. If you collect vinyl, you gotta have this album. Every single song on it is awesome, and Supertramp was, and perhaps still are, unlike anyone else... I was only 1 year old when this album came out, and it was played on my parents turntable all the time. This is why i like you guys. Yoi dont just do rap and metal songs like a lot of other rapper reactors. I love those reactions but there is so much more music out there. I love supertramp
This song just relaxes me. Idk what it is about it, but damn. It’s euphoric. A good song to start a smoke session 🔥💨🤘🏼
They wore it out on FM radio, for me, wish they hadn't
That’s what I got to enjoy my senior year of high school….among other things…😊
Time for more Supertramp, Crime of the century,,!!
How have I heard this song for years and not know what song it is. Great reaction!
I think many people currently in their 40s were introduced this song in Simpsons episode I Married Marge where Homer is reminiscing his youth, first aired in December 1991. The song came out in March 1979.
Trash Talkers be vibin’ hard! This makes me so happy. The lyrics are profoundly relevant even today. ‘Give a Little Bit’ to this day is one of the most satisfying songs that displays resolution. Plus, if you break the mime’s hand, he’ll be surprised. That’s not the actual lyric. But I still wish it was
Try Goodbye Stranger. Long Way Home, Girlfriend. Their album Breakfast in America was hugely popular.
Supertramp had their own unmistakable sound, a one of a kind band like Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Jethro Tull. Check out the album Crime Of The Century
The great John Helliwell on sax. You should check out one of the live versions, just as good as the audio!
This whole Breakfast in America album was incredible and yeah these songs were on the radio constantly. That's also an iconic record album cover. But I would also point you to a song from I think their album before that one. But at any rate an earlier album. And it got a ton of radio play and it is such a different take by them although it has a lot of the same hallmarks. And it's called, Bloody Well Right!
Breakfast In America would be next by Supertramp.

I still listen to CDs in the car. I’m so old…
I have a reoccurring nightmare where im sitting drunk and or stoned in my underwear and HR is calling me because I forgot I had to work that day. This song is always playing in the background

'Live in Paris' is a true masterpiece imo. I was 9 in 1979 and a Supertramp-fanatic. It's the first band that I saw live: 1983 in Belgium, AND still with Roger Hodgson!
The Great Basin is Nevada, part of Idaho, and part of Utah.
One of those classic rock radio songs that I never knew the name of 😆 My car does indeed have a CD player, and it’s a 2019 so… not that old. I do have a cd in it, too- Stankonia 😊
Supertramp are a UK band who have had several hits in the 70s. Please review their Breakfast in America or Bloody well right. I am sure you will appreciate them.
Sorry, I have never thought of Supertramp singer/keyboardist/guitarist Roger Hodgson and Geddy Lee sounding alike. Supertramp has always been my favourite band since I first heard their all-time classic album Crime of the Century (1974) when I was about 12 in 1975. Listen to anything off their run of 5!! classic LPs in succession starting with Crime of the Century and followed by Crisis? What Crisis? (1975), Even In the Quietest Moments (1977), Breakfast In America (1979) and Famous Last Words (1982). Next with Supertramp try Goodbye Stranger, School, Bloody Well Right, Dreamer, Give A Little Bit, Sister Moonshine and Take The Long Way Home.
The Great Basin is basically all of Nevada and western Utah.
