I was able to play with Stevie Ray a couple of times before he died. He was a incredible guitarist one of the best blues guitarist out there there is a video of him and Jeff Healy together which is insane. You really need more Stevie Ray Vaughan videos up to check out

He was speaking of the last performance at Alpine Valley theater, the encode they all played together. Afterwards Clapton was asked for an interview and gave SRV his seat on the helicopter and Stevie was happy to accept as he wanted to get back to Chicago to meet up with his girlfriend. That helicopter crashed soon after takeoff and robbed the world of a legend...

An absolute monster of a guitar player. The studio version of this is one of the greatest guitar recordings of all time. It's a cover of a Hendrix song, but the original has lyrics and is only about 3 minutes long, while Stevie’s is almost 7 minutes and beats the original IMHO. His career was mostly through the 80’s. He died in 1990 at age 35 in a helicopter accident after a festival in bad weather. Eric Clapton was originally supposed to be on the helicopter so....we would’ve lost a guitar legend in any case.🥴

Look up his performance of Texas flood at the celebration of blues. He broke the strings mid performance, switched guitars and kept going. This man was a God of guitars and music...#RIP Also check out: Riviera Paradise, look at little sister with Jeff Healey, Texas Flood live at the El Macambo, Look at little sister - Austin city limits (smoothest guitar change you'll EVER see), his session with Albert king....there's so many good ones.

It's always been my opinion that Stevie could just hold one note, let it ring and it would have so much emotion behind it that it could bring a tear to your eye. God, I miss this guy!

This man took playing a guitar to some other place. Check out SRV and Johnny Copeland at Montreux performing Tin Pan Alley or Texas Flood live at the El Macambo. You can't go wrong . Or if you're feeling alittle whimsical check out Mary Had A Little Lamb live at the El Macambo. He was with us only 35 years but what an impact he made. Legend isn't a strong enough word to describe what he left all of us.....Absolute magic played with passion effortlessly. May he rest in peace.🎵🎼🎶🎸

SRV played straight from the soul to his guitar. No man can think that. His soul did it all.

The song Little Wing was originally written and performed by Jimi Hendrix in the 60s. SRV idolized Jimi and did everything he could to honor Jimi when he played his music. The other song of Jimi's that SRV used to play and sing to was Voodoo Chile. I'm 70 years old and have seen them both play live. I don't don't compare them because they both played at different times when what was available to play with were different. But, both had a profound impact on me with their music. I am just happy and blessed to have lived during a time that produced some of the greatest music of all time and just wait for that day I get to go and watch the great gig in the sky...

SRV was some rock, he loved Hendrix but he's known as THE Texas Blues man. So many great songs. Do his own " Life without You" live at the Capitol Theatre. You will see how truly talented he was. RIP SRV.

I cannot tell you guys how excited I was to see y'all did a SRV video! I grew up listening to this legend. My dad had him playing at least once a week. I even did a book report in him in high school. He's another artist we lost too soon but is kept alive through his music. I could honestly recommend a few songs of his that I think y'all would dig. "Cold shot" "Life without you" "Change it" "Tin pan alley" "Pride and joy" "Life by the drop" Those are my top favorites and look forward to seeing if y'all choose to react to any of them.

I have often wondered where he would be in his career had he not tragically passed. However, though he was at the peak of his fame, I feel as though many wouldn't appreciate his artistry the way we as fans all do now.

Great reaction gents. This is an amazing Jimi hendrix song. It would be worth doing a reaction to that also as it has lyrics and sounds beautiful when Jimi does it. SRV was a massive Jimi fan and covers quite a few of his songs.

Many different researchers, journalists, authors, have written on this topic. One specific one is an excerpt from the book "the covert war against Rock" by Alex Constantine. There is a dedicated chapter to Jimi Hendrix and the mysteries surrounding his death. This book also covers many other well-known deceased artists and the odd ways many of them perished.

There's a video of him playing live when one of his strings break and he doesn't skip a beat. There's also one where he plays half of one of his songs behind his back. This man is a LEGEND.

I've often thought, how is it that guitar never just burst into flames in his hands ? The way that man spun his soul into sound was natural born. Little Wing is so special to me, I hope it will fly me home when it's time. Jimi wrote and composed this magical tune that I first heard in 1968 at the age of 14. It was love at first listen, I was already a Hendrix fanatic. Stevie Ray does this incredible tune more than justice, and I fell in love once again. Anything SRV does is golden. He's a force of nature, a tornado,,an electric storm. Whatever planet he's from, he was born to make a guitar talk,sing, scream and cry. And a voice for the Blues, silk over sandpaper. Wish he'd been here with us all these years. RIP SRV, 🎸👽💔💙. ☮️to all.

This is absolute mastery of an instrument. Musicians will tell you that they never quit learning, and I'm sure there was one or two things left that SRV didn't know, but I couldn't name them.

You know Stevie Ray Vaughan can do so many things with that guitar, he started playing at the age of 7 and he played behind his head, broken string, switched guitar in the middle of a solo and never missed a beat, one handed, no hands like you seen him move the guitar up and down making a beautiful sound, tune his guitar while playing, adjust his AMP'S while playing,, his teeth, backwards, his elbow and play behind his back longer than anyone ever did or ever will. His career was only span 7 years from the release of his album Texas Flood in 1983 until his death August 27, 1990 in a helicopter crash in East Troy Wisconsin. In only 7 years he in the Austin Music Hall Of Fame, Blues Hall Of Fame, he won 6 Grammys, 10 Austin Music Awards, 5 W.C.Handy Awards, Entertainer Of The Year, Instermental Of The Year and he is in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame since 2015. You talk about Guitar God's and other list and I hate that Stevie Ray is never #1 he is always # 7 or 8 and one hisbhe was even in the top 10. I always say show me a guitarist that can do all the things that Stevie Ray could do and I'll agree and no one has ever been able too. Not to say Jimi Hendrix wasn't great on the guitar but even he couldn't do it and he's always #1 it makes no sense. Stevie Ray never used a play list he said because he couldn't read music he played from the heart so basses Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton never knew what or how he was going to play and still never messed up one note because Stevie Ray said he didn't know until he got on stage. Sorry my comment was so long but when it comes to the master of guitar I get a little carried away. Stevie Ray Vaughan will always be the GOAT ( IMO)

He was so in tune to his sound and the bending of the strings. He played with 12 and 13 gauge strings which are the thickest and heaviest. No one else used strings that thick. He bent them with big super strong hands. Super glued his finger tips back on when he ripped them off. Please do more SRV!!

Eric Clapton was privileged enough to play Number One after SRV died, and he said it took a lot of effort to bend the strings. SRV must have had forearms like rebar.

I saw Stevie at several shows all over the east coast, they were never the same, he played his songs differently every time. Some were balls to the wall, others were really mellow blues. His Austin City Limits concert was incredible, as was the entire show you pulled that clip from. Just an incredible lead for a group. We got SO wasted the night he died, we were all devastated when it came across the radio at work.

SRV remained my late dad’s absolute favorite musician ever! Our last name is Vaughn (different spelling) but I grew up with SRV and I want to thank you guys for that awesome trip down memory lane approaching what would be my dad’s 65th birthday.

SRV's one of the few guys from that era I can still keep in my rotation.

Stevie always hit that zone,, played the music that came from his heart,, he didnt need to think about what he was doing or where he was on the neck,, he just played,,, and it was all improvised, all made up on the spot,, he had more tools in his guitar toolbox than most other players would even dream about,, lot of great technical guitarists out there, but to improvise like Stevie is unique and precious,,

This is a great authentic reaction. It seems a lot of people react to Stevie because it gets views but you guys really understood and appreciated what you just saw and it shows.

This was Stevie performing in 1983 at age 29 and what he was wearing was partially inspired by Jimi Hendrix of course. The eighties was Stevie's decade where he rose to global fame as an other worldly musician who played with more passion and commitment than anyone else. His body of work that he left behind should be mandatory listening for those people who love guitar. I promise he will blow your mind🎸🎶‼️ sadly he left us on August 27, 1990 just a few months shy of his 36th birthday. Stevie is definitely in consideration any time greatest of all time is debated. You must do Riviera Paradise my personal favorite SRV song. Tin Pan Alley is also a must. Myself and two friends were listening to it once on a road trip and I swear it lasted for an hour...if you know what I mean 😁. The man could play rythym and lead at the same time. I've watched his videos many time and still can't tell how he did it. When he was in the throes of addiction his morning pick me up was a coffee cup full of Johnny Walker Red with two heaping teaspoons of cocaine dissolved in it - per Behind the Music on VH1. The rythym section known as Double Trouble has performed annually doing the same duty for the Jimi Hendrix tribute tour that performs every year.

His older brother, Jimmy (Fabulous Thunderbirds) is an accomplished guitarist in his own right, but the music and feelings came out of Stevie naturally. Jimmy took music theory classes which Stevie skipped and did his own thing and developed his own style without being boxed in by "theory".

Most talented musician that ever lived

Look up "srv breaks string" and see how smooth he is. He also did a cover of Voodoo Child which is incredible.

Truly one of the greatest all around, technical guitarists of all time!! He had such stamina and endurance to play with his whole being for a prolonged period of time! I sure it was years of practice, learning from other greats that he aspired to be like or even better than, but how on earth could he play like that for such a long duration? I heard that if the callouses fell off his fingers he would super glue them back on. Could be unfounded rumor, but whatever it was he was incredible. John Mayer said some guitarists can play an incredible riff for like 20 seconds or so before their fingers go numb or their arms are like putty, but he was different in that way. Many of the greats, who SRV was privileged to play with (and many of them felt the same way about him) count him among the greatest! I truly love the generosity I see among so many of the greatest blues guitarists in the world, they alway looked thrilled to be playing together. I enjoy the live collaborations and the pure joy on faces that knew, this moment in time will never, ever happen again. I wish I could have seen many of them in person, but man, I do feel blessed that we have many videos, and TV collaborations available to watch. All live performances: Voodoo child/chile (he's wearing the black hat and black leather vest) ,Texas Flood live from The El Mocambo, Pride and Joy live at Montreau 1982, Love Struck Baby/Rude Mood live 3/25/87, Leave My Girl Alone live from Austin Tx,.....well look, you just need to watch all the live ones, but the ones I mentioned are the most popular for those particular songs. There is stuff out there playing with the greats too, you will fall out of your seats watching Look at Little Sister w/Jeff Healey live.

I used to live in East Troy, Wisconsin, which is where Alpine Music Theater is located. It’s a wonderful outdoor amphitheater, just a beautiful spot on earth to enjoy live music. It was at Alpine that Stevie Ray’s helicopter crashed after his performance. I used to walk to the theater and just sit on the lawn, looking down at the stage, to just think and meditate. Of course SRV was with me every time. Legendary guitarist.

Huge SRV fan here... We lost Stevie Ray at the tender age of 35yrs.old he was killed in a helicopter crash leaving a venue in Wisconsin on Aug. 27 1990 we only had him a short while shortly after he had just started to become famous, which was some where around 7 to 10 yrs when he tragically died. Who knows just how much glorious music we were cheated out of hearing 😞 the live performance I'd suggest is " Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood (Live at the El Mocambo)" prepare to have your 🤯 mind blown. Stevie Ray never performed any two concerts the same. A true "Texas Bluesman" there will never be another SRV RIP: U R MISSED 💔 🔥🎸✌🏼

Stevie Ray Vaughan was from the 70's and he had an amazing blues voice, all the Blues greats B.B. King, Buddy Guy and most of all Albrrt King who was Stevie Ray's godfather love Stevie Ray. Stevie Ray played 13 gage strings and people couldn't believe that he would even break those.

This a Jimi Hendrix instrumental. I saw Stevie just a few months after this was filmed. He even had on the same shirt. Basically the same show but with some songs added. I think Stevie channels Jimi when he plays then tries to out play him. Check out Third Stone From The Sun from same show...Stevie just tries to destroy his #1 guitar, bouncing it on floor holding whammy bar and also stands on it and lifts it by headstock. I was 10 feet away from him watching in awe.

This is actually a Jimi Hendrix song, played as an instrumental. If you look closely, the tremolo bar and bridge on this guitar is actually left handed...it's the mirror image of Hendrix playing left handed on a right handed guitar.

He played on David Bowie’s Let’s Dance album. Bowie and Mick Jagger saw him at a blues festival in France and they were blown away. SRV was an amazing talent!

SRV was 36 when he passed. RIP Stevie ❤️

On a kinda cool to know side note, Stevie Ray's brother, Jimmie Vaughan, was a founding member of the group The Fabulous Thunderbirds! 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼

A local morning show here in Houston "Walton & Johnson" opened the show every day for decades with this song. Crank up the album version with headphones or a good system, doesn't get any better
