Yeah, some people's love can feel as if they're squeezing the life out of you. I knew someone who was pissed that her husband had.....friends. "Why does he need friends when he's got *ME?"* Of course he eventually left her. Can't say I blame him.

Fast Car - lyrics. Give Me One Reason - music! I’ll take blues based music every time. It’s what’s sorely missing in almost all today’s and recent music. The music industry doesn’t want to touch it, nor do the artists. Pretty much pops up only rarely, primarily in what’s left in the Rock (not metal) world. And it is a crime.

If u listen to Tracy Chapman's debut album, u will notice that she tells stories about other people... not necessarily her personal experiences. That was where 'Fast car' came from... a familiar story in America of the reality of young people trying to find an escape from their problems... She wrote 'Across the lines'... about race riots in America's past... the spoken word track 'Behind the wall'... was written about the reality of domestic abuse and femicide.

Everybody freaked out about how catchy this song was when it was released, and it is, but it is simple 12-bar blues (if you don't know what this is, ask a musician friend). Very clever of her to bring it to the masses, but any beginning guitarist is familiar with this form.

It was 1996/1997, I was in the Army, stationed in Camp Zama, Japan, coming back to work after lunch; as I pulled into the parking lot this song came on Armed Forces Radio. Never heard it, nor of her, before. I sat in the car and listened to the song all the way thru, which I NEVER did. As soon as it was over I put the car in reverse and drove to the Post Exchange just hoping they had Tracy's CD. They did, and of course I still have it all these years later.

Yes .. I agree with the other commenters.... she wants someone who is not going to try to control her.. but I also think she is wanting someone who is going to love her and allow her to focus on her career. So I would think traveling a lot and being on the road.. so would need someone who is cool with that and not insecure. However.. that's just me reading a lot more into it.. and personalizing it to maybe Tracy's life at the time this song was coming out. Any ways...... I love Tracy and her musc.. and my fave three songs of hers are Forgive Me... Baby I Can Hold You.. and The Promise. All of them are top notch!!!!! Not related.. but I have to say it.. she has the best smile and dimples in the whole world!!!! 🥰😍😂 Cheers from Ontario, Canada🍁

My kids are 38 and 43! And I feel like I don't know when that happened!!!! It was so fast! Like being side swiped by a fast-moving train!!! Hold them tight, but give them wings! And take LOTS of pictures!!!
I cannot listen to her often, I find her music incredibly moving and powerful. Your daughter is adorable
Awwwww!!! Love when the lil one appears! ♥ This song is amazing, her voice! WOW! Always loved this song...40!
I love this song and the bass line is incredible! Your little girl is adorable. Much love to you and your family.
The BEST part of the reaction was your daughter and that REAL moment. Love it! I raised my kids, now grandkids are everything.
She doesn’t want to be smothered. She just wants to be loved.
Such a good dad.
This song is like a fantastic neopolitan pizza. Nothing fancy, no over the top ingredients, just simple, straightforward and executed to perfection.
Sometimes, we can overthink a song instead of just enjoying it!!
Tracy first recorded this in 1995 and now it’s out again making new people fall in love with her voice again
Love Tracy Chapman and this is my favorite!!!
One of my favorites songs from 1996, I forgot how great song this is! It won the Grammy award for Best Rock song, it definitely is a song that could fit in different genres, definitely bluesy rock
Tracy❤ She was always so groovy. Beautiful girl has a beautiful smile. She's saying if she gives her life to someone they migh smother her, that's what I gathered. Great reaction as usual my friend and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
"Don't smother me"
Never get tired of this tune, baby girl is adorable 💗
Hey, your first most important thing in life is to be DADDY. Your daughter is everything. Love seeing that. And yes, Tracy Chapman brings a raw honesty to all her songs. Hope you raise your daughter to be that brave. Love your reactions, and send love to your family. God bless.
British people have always loved Tracey Chapman as she was invited to appear at Wembley stadium at The Nelson Mandela concert and it was so very special ❤️ 👋 I have always loved The Promise and Baby Can I Hold You. Terrific 💚👌
I love love love this song! ❤❤❤❤. Thanks for doing this one this one is my favorite of her songs

This and The Promise.
"All You Have is Your Soul" Lot's of wisdom in the song. I think people would like it. Love Tracy Chapman❤
What a unique and beautiful voice
I saw her at Brixton Academy back in the early 90s. She was brilliant, classy and a beautifull woman. Her voice is phenomenal.❤
Hope all is cool with the kids mate. And your daughter coming in to say I love you was too mother effing sweet.
This is Rhythm & Blues. Blues guitars with mainly Blues subject matter, but with a much larger band giving a sort of "Happy" feeling to the music.
The soul of this lady is beyond profound! Tracy is what rhythm & blue is in totality. If you don't feel her when she performs then you are dead inside! Beautiful she is! ❤❤❤
Cool tune, Tracy is great, her cassette tape was on rotation in my car back in the day, and I'm in Ireland. So she was a world wide hit with tunes that told everyone's story in one way or another.
Your daughter is adorable ❤ Hope baby girl feels better quickly 🙏🏼❤️ I love this song! Tracy is incredible.
Loved this song. Traci was fire 🔥 ❤
Great reaction to a great singer but beautiful baby daughter stole the show. You my man are credit to fatherhood. Congrats
Awww. So sweet with your little girl. Love this song.
She looks like her mama!!! What a doll. Seems like you're a great and patient dad. Keep doing what you doll!!
I love this song. One of my top 10 of all time. Tracy Chapman is sublime.
Simply a figure of speech....
Everybody freaked out about how catchy this song was when it was released, and it is, but it is simple 12-bar blues (if you don't know what this is, ask a musician friend). Very clever of her to bring it to the masses, but any beginning guitarist is familiar with this form.

But SHE did it, with her special voice and vibe. THAT'S the difference.

Thousands of songs have been written over many years which are ‘based’ on the 12-bar blues music form and variations of it.
Growing up a blues fan, I ALWAYS appreciate a straight 12-bar, I-IV-V blues song!
Classic 12 bar blues. Well-executed by Ms. Chapman. Her performance of this with Eric Clapton was great. Been listening to her since i can remember. She's a beautiful soul ❤
This came out when I was still working at the music store, and I swear I sold thousands of her CDs. Ed
This lady is solid diamond! Absolute best of music can offer.
Yep. Love Tracey Chapman! The Promise is another amazing track.
Tracy has a great vibe. Def blues.
Tracy Chapman is so amazing. I would love to have her recording again.
She is a classic! Thanks for the reaction! Your daughter is precious! I hope the baby is better soon!
Awe....Hi Alynia!! I bet she loves having ur studio at home!
All the female blues singers I worked with in the 90’s covered this song! ‘Cause it’s FIRE! The band always loved it, too! Peace
She doesn’t want anyone to control her she just someone who’s gonna rock her world softly & sweetly
Thank you for leaving your daughter in, She is adorable.
You know that we would love your kid to be in on this... But this is awesome.
I love this song and I love Tracy Chapman. She is a true authentic artist! Her songwriting and singing is so pure and beautiful!! The "squeeze me" line seems like she's saying don't try to control or contain her...just love her!💖💖
She doesn't want a relationship that's controlling, or suffocating. She wants one that respects her and loves her.
Tracey has an incredible voice and i still love this in 2024. Its my fave TC song 😊
Another spectacular song by an EPIC artist/ sister!!!!!!🫶🥰🎵🎶💚💜💛🩵🤍🖤🤎🔮🌈
Prayers for Baby and all of your precious family 🙏💜💐. This beautiful soul gives me chills everytime! Straight gift of God, all that talent in one sweet soul! Lord, Thank you! 🙏💜💐
Prayers for your baby girl. I hope she gets better soon. Her older sister is cute. She loves her daddy. 😊 …I love Give Me One Reason. Tracy is awesome!
BP, your daughter is gorgeous 😍 love when she makes her little VIP "walk ons," lol. Family first 🫶. When I was in my 20s & a first-time mom, on rough nights, my (toddler) son (now 39) would fall asleep to the soothing sounds of Tracy Chapman's voice & music. IMO Tracy is the "GOAT"!! ❤🫶
Tracy Chapman is a real one. She sings about things we can relate to. I feel her songs in my soul.
Check out her song Talkin’ About A Revolution.
Loving Tracy Chapman and thinking your a great daddy .. lucky little lady.
Tracy Chapman is a real treasure.
Always seemed like a song done in a timeless, classic blues style to me. And Ms. Chapman do got a rich, bluesy voice.
You'll love the version of this song with Tracy and Eric 😁🎶
Been following her for 20 years. Love her!
Firstly, your Daughter is precious. Secondly, there is actually a duet of this song by Tracy Chapman and Eric Clapton, they kill it together. This is DEFINITELY the blues, and it's completely my jam! The Squeeze me line is what everyone else is saying, don't stifle me, don't control me and take my life, just love me. I loved this reaction! I always love your stuff Black P! Keep it up!
The little interaction with your daughter OMG so freaking cute!
She's such a beautiful artist. Songwriting, singing, musicality, the whole package.
Love TC❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely love Tracy's voice
Happy Tuesday.... ❤ This song🤘
So happy Boo Boo dropped by to say hi! What a cutie -- love her!
That first song was such a hit, it overshadowed this. It’s an amazing song.
Love Tracy oh and you have a beautiful daughter she's precious
Yes! It is certainly the blues! Hope baby is ok! 🙏🏼 great song! Love Alynia, she is so adorable! Seeing how you are with her makes me smile and makes my heart happy! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Your baby girl is beautiful. She got a sunshine smile! She loves her daddy and you her! Hope her littles sis gets feeling better quick.
I hope the baby is ok. Sending thoughts and prayers.
This was played on contemporary radio back when it came out, but this as Blues as you will ever hear. I love good Blues music and this is awesome.
LOVE Tracey Chapman!
Great example of the 12 bar blues chord progression. It is the best vehicle for both lyrics and soloing any instrument...and tracy has the perfect voice for blues, i wish she did more in this style
Your baby girl is the CUTEST and so polite!!!! ❤❤ I hope the new baby gets to feeling better!!!!!
Tracy is a treasure!! Such a beautiful voice
Love Tracy Chapman her voice is so RICH 👌🏼
Omgosh bro... ur interaction with ur lil one just melted my heart
