It was made for the first "Highlander" movie with Christopher Lambert & Sean Connery. Queen went on to write 7 more for that film. Then based their album, "A Kind Of Magic" and their Magic tour around a lot of those songs. That said, the television series "Highlander" also used "Princes Of The Universe' for its opening theme. Excellent choice.

Another great Queen Sountrack. I love all their music on this album.

Brian wrote it and Freddie always complained that he always had to shred his throat to sing Brian's songs... it is so awesome... There is another famous song "Flash" from the movie "Flash Gordon" by Queen.

Queen did a brilliant job writing perfect music for this movie. It breaks my heart thinking how many more movie soundtracks this talented band might have written for movies if Freddie hadn’t passed away so young at just 45 years old. The music these 4 created was amazing since all 4 were great songwriters. Try each member’s songs. Love John Deacon’s song One Year Of Love, Brian May’s song Who Wants To Live Forever, Roger Taylor’s song It’s A Kind Of Magic and of course this one Freddie Mercury’s Princes Of The Universe. They made the movie Highlander 100 times better. ❤

Well, the song was about 1,000 times better than the movie itself. But it's fun to see what Queen could do when tasked with a specific creative directive. If you haven't yet, check out Flash Gordon, the other film that Queen did the soundtrack for. I think it's much more fun.
