It is hard for me to believe that someone has never heard of Elton.. but then again his music was the soundtrack of my youth.. in the 70s, you could not go 15 minutes without hearing a song of his on the radio. We used to call the radio station and request "Razor Face", or some other deep cut that did not get as much air time. They don't make music like that anymore, in my opinion.

@@raymondmassie4898 Bernie said "There was a period when I was going through that whole ‘got to get back to my roots’ thing, which spawned a lot of like-minded songs in the early days, this being one of them. I don’t believe I was ever turning my back on success or saying I didn’t want it. I just don’t believe I was ever that naïve. I think I was just hoping that maybe there was a happy medium way to exist successfully in a more tranquil setting. My only naiveté, I guess, was believing I could do it so early on. I had to travel a long road and visit the school of hard knocks before I could come even close to achieving that goal."

In the 1970s, most music critics considered Elton John to be the third greatest pianist in the world. He had been a child prodigy, who could hear a piece of music once and play it back note for note, or actually improvise upon it in a creative and intelligent manner.

Gotta have Daniel. I saw Elton on July 4, 1976 in what is now Gillette Stadium, home of the Patriots. What an amazing concert. The piano came in handy when Elton came onstage standing on the piano dressed as the Statue of Liberty. Pinball Wizard had accompanying fireworks to look like a hand holding a ball. Lots of fireworks, almost every song he every sang, I was determined not to leave until he sang Daniel. Luckily he did. I had just graduated high school, and had already been to many concerts, but nothing no one before or since has had the combination of talent and showmanship. Queen came the closest, but still not anything like Sir Elton John

I'd recommend the film - Elton Johns' bio - "Rocketman". This song- just one of so many great ones- strikingly makes the sadness beautiful. He'd had success, too much, and it led to a very ugly place, so this song indicates that he knew it was time to change. Keep up the great work, by the way.

Yes ... and no. He was a musical prodigy and started playing at age three. At seven, he started formal piano lessons and at 11 he won a scholarship to London's Royal Academy of Music. Not that I could have told you most of that without doing some research (I knew about the classical training, but not the rest).

@Lady Elton22 - I have trouble understanding how anyone could find Elton and then lose interest ... I've raised a fan, too. To the point that she took me to see him when he was in Sydney recently. And dressed up as him for a party she attended.

I ordered this from Columbia House in 1973. 10 albums for a dollar! I was in the closet and it took ten more years to say who I was. He became an icon for us. I call on everyone to love the people around you. There's no place for hate in our world.

It was a legitimate gift to see you react to this. Elton John has been one of my favorite artists my entire life, and the purity of your reaction, not even knowing who he was, your passion was a privilege to see. I love all your reaction videos, but when I see you being exposed for the first time to something that resonates powerfully with me is just… I can’t even explain. You are wonderful and beautiful, thank you so much for sharing this aspect of yourselves! ❤
