Shaboozey is the real deal! Glad you finally found him. Hes got a couple other hits pre beyonce that are great as well. She probably helped but this song was a hit 4 sure with or without imo. Personally i dig let it burn...

Agreed, Shaboozey brings some country soul he isn't just hitching to a trend, producing something superficial. Country fans would never be supportive if he were.

This guy is good. I like that he's doing his own thang. The young performers these days have a lot of influences, and it's making for some interesting sounds.

"Like the bottom of a bottle don't miss me"... story of my life. lol. I think you do this man a disservice when you say he wouldn't be where he is without B... To be honest, I couldn't name a single song of hers, although I'm sure if someone threw a hit on, I would recognize it... but, I'm mostly country these days(63... cut my teeth on Stones, Zep, Floyd, Supertramp, etc, etc... grew through the years), and, I can say he's a hitmaker, all on his own... the B, if anything, should feel a bit of gratitude to him, for making her more visible to folks who maybe couldn't have been bothered to give her a serious listen, until they find out he graced her album. !edit!... Sorry, reading my comment back, I see it might be taken as I'm shading B... not my intention at all... so.. I will add, truthfully, that he, I'm sure, feels equally graced to be one of the chosen few to appear on that album. That's the beauty of those who dare to slip into "The Gap"... the empty space between genres. I think of a song by The Thompson Twins... Into The Gap. It's actually about trying to bring peace into the world by extending yourself into the empty spaces between divisive cultures/countries/ideologies/etc. The main line being... "East is east, West is west... Keep moving out into the GAP". oops... I paused to write that... but, you said something, again, that scratched me the first time you said it... He didn't 'sample' anything... he used a lyrical reference. I have an issue with unauthorized sampling... but you can't copyright words, and he did NOT use a "recording" of someone else's art... he simply spoke of said art.
