Thank You, very ground experience-based recommendations, much needed, the Reddit posts and the different reviews are quite a hassle. Although I had a doubt, you made out catering to be not such a big deal, is it that easy to self-cater for a first year, if you can please make a video around self-catering and the finances related to it. Also, can you make such hands-on reviews for different societies as well, I'd be a big help. Also, is the Pollock stigma a very big thing?

if i’m being entirely honest it looks quite far out. It’s not unheard of as obviously people do live there but it will likely be quite annoying socially as it is a ways away from getting into the city and also if you want friends over it’ll be far from their accommodations. I wasn’t aware there was a Uni one so far, but it looks like it would be 45 minutes to an hour commute unless there is a direct bus… you can try and email the uni and see if it can be changed or you can look into private housing should u wish to change it!

Hi! for first year none of my friends and i had jobs but most of us are either working now or trying to get jobs with the intention of working during second year. Which halls do you think have the best social life?
@madigraham04
11 ай бұрын
it sort of depends on what type of social life you mean. near every hall has a group chat you can find on facebook pages or freshers group chats to help you find others living there and maybe your flat mates. I found that these group chats often esp sem1 had people asking if anyone was hosting a pres on different nights out usually friday and saturday but other days as well, so all of them will have something similar to that. otherwise RA’s do try and host things at all the halls but i never went to any of those events. pollock is probably best for connectivity and like organically meeting people in your hall simply because of the dining experience, you’re more likely to meet people that way. otherwise it’s super easy during the first two or three weeks to make friends with literally anyone you see in your hall, i made friends w people in line waiting for keys collection and in the elevator, everyone is just as keen to meet people as you are so it’s really easy. not sure if that totally helps lmk if you have any other questions!
