I really feel like so long london is the track five because it is the only song on the standard that is unambiguously about joe. it's the context we need to understand the story of the rest of the album, the unhealed wound that fueled her manic summer fling. the story is incomplete without it, and because I think it is the core wound, it really does become central to the emotional narrative. you don't get to loml or smallest man without first experiencing so long london. so I think that's why it's the track five. It feels like it was her way of saying "look this was the real problem for all that time, this is what I was really failing to deal with, this is what I was most upset about." Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know her, but that's my interpretation of at least the story of the album.

I didn’t even notice! I skip over the song Evermore every time, I forgot there’s a title track on that album. I can’t stand that guy’s voice. 😵 Only time I’ve heard it all the way through was when she played it at The Eras Tour.

I think So Long, London is more vulnerable than loml because there is more depth of emotions in it. There’s sadness, hurt, anger, and there is also acceptance and hope all in one song. loml is good too obviously, but it’s flat emotionally. it’s just heartbreaking and sad

not forgetting about evermores title track at 8:48 + then forgetting about debut also having a 2-word album title at 9:12 😭

I think, the reason why loml and The Smallest Man were not track 5 is because, there's a story in the end loml - heartbreak from Joe I Can Do It - going through the process of two heartbreak The Smallest Man - heartbreak from Matty, (that's also maybe the reason why I Can Do It is in the middle) The Alchemy - like moving on with someone(arguably about Travis, arguably) Clara Bow - an ending, about the start of her career But could just be me And since they're in the end, naturally, they can't be at track 5

Thanks for this, so interesting. As an older person and a lifelong Joni fan, it's interesting to note that at about this age Joni released "Hejira", also a very introspective set, with generally subdued production, and striking black-and-white photography for the album graphics.

Totally agree with your take on So Long London as a track 5! SLL is written from a place of resignation rather than being really emotionally charged, which makes sense for the end of a six year relationship. loml is clearly the track 5 of the album - I feel like that had to be obvious to her, too, which is why I'm convinced that the only reason she made SLL a track 5 is because it's the only song on the standard edition that is very obviously about Joe and Joe alone. I think she wanted the emotional heart of the album to be reserved for him and not for Matty. Especially since the exact same applies to How Did It End? which is essentially the track 5 of the second half. The Black Dog or Chloe et al. would have been more appropriate choices, but they're also not about Joe. I obviously have no proof of any of this; just my delusional belief that I understand Taylor, LOL.

Thank you for this video. It's so hard to judge songs! For me, So Long London is your Down Bad, but it's great to learn other people feelings on lyrics. We need an app developers team asap. With a contact-tinder kind of idea in mind. Not necessarily for romantic relationships, but frienship or just hang out. So every swiftie do this kind of test and would be able to find kindred spirits/minds. I agree some songs don't resonate atm with us, because we are not at the moment of our life to be able to appreciate them. I think same happens with people. I don't know if lots of people have ever felt the same, but I feel more linked to people the more we have in common. As if we like same kind of movies, music, videogames and books... when we meet we are so in sinc, we are able to talk finishing each other sentences. I think an app like this would help a lot of swifties to find meaningful relationships with other swifties close to them. We really are an awesome fandom and united we could do so good. Getting closer and together, with videos like this for example, I think we feed each other of inspiration for even greater ideas. So thanks again ❤

What is cathartic to me is that I have seen the Poets Era in the Tour before the Nina “The Taylor Swift Encyclopaedia” Shelby has. That makes the songs hit different to me now. My show (Edinburgh N2) had these surprise songs: 🎸 The Bolter x Getaway Car 🎹 All The Girls You Loved Before x Crazier I hope we are still able to talk after those songs. I manifested Getaway Car as I have that on the back of my car with a Vinyl Decal. I feel that Taylor will do a musical on her music in next few years or so. There’s so much of it that it would make a great 3.5 hours Broadway or West End show. One that could be toured or placed in theatres world wide. Singing would be encouraged!!!

Fresh out the slammer is my favorite song from TTPD. Also I started playing guitar recently, my dad got one for me and him to share last week. I've been wanting to learn guitar for a while because I've been writing songs since November 2022 and I've been wanting to have music with my songs. Once I've learned some chords (I've learned a couple already but I'm working on some more) I'm going to check out some more of your Taylor swift song tutorials.
