    I'm glad we can finally stop with the "best passing big" labels with Jokic and whatever else. He's simply a top 5 offensive player ever. There are no flaws on that end and he's exceptional in every category. He's not "good for a big", he's legitimately one of the best in NBA history. His defense is also _far_ better than Embiid fans on twitter would have you believe. It's only in this era that big, bulky centers are punished by casuals for their lack of versatility.

    @donnellthomas7766 no its not lol, the separation is rim protection and that's it. Embiid gets torched on PNR, as the Celtics showed these playoffs. Jok and the Nuggets scheme covered those weakness well enough against the Wolves, Suns and Lakers. The gap on offense is massive, as Embiid can't offer much playmaking or passing when he's double teamed and relies to much on a face up post game and foul hunting, which gets exposed EVERY playoff.

    LeBron at his peak was in that category for sure. He was so good that the Heat's offense was actually more efficient WITHOUT D Wade and with LeBron alone running the show. He is without question the best "drive and kick" and heliocentric player ever. I would say the 3 you mentioned have a higher floor for a team offense at their best (and I'd include MJ), but if you are able to surround peak LeBron with 3&D guys and one other high level playmaker that can space the floor, that has an argument for being the greatest offense in NBA history.

    You know, Kawhi was a great player for the greatest team basketball I have ever seen: 2014 Spurs. But, when you look back at it, Kawhi, was not the center of that team: that would have been the axis Duncan-Diaw. Although he won, deservedly, the Finals MVP, Kawhi was a reluctant participant in the Spurs' beautiful game. Kawhi, as he proved amply, in his later off-court dealings and later on-court play, inclined toward the hero-ball game: ugly, and ultimately losing basketball. I am anticipating that Kawhi does not make the HOF, and I affirm that he is not one of the 100 All-Time Greats.

    Unlike Nikola Jokic, many selfish superstars tended to hog a ball a lot so they are responsible for causing their idle rusty teammates more frustrated, disappointed and resentful because they wanted to shoot too. I noticed many superstars except Jokic don't understand the meaning of teamwork because they are obsessed to winning. Denver Nuggets' team players were more much active and mobile than others. Jokic is a far much more different than these superstars because he doesn't care about stats but winning a game. I admire his humility, simplicity and unselfishness so much.

The All-Time, and MVP-AllStars set apart. And the health adjustments. Very crisp/clean and just a cool function. I dropped my Top 25 for you on Twitter a few days back, with not so much the adjustment for health, but a similar adjustment that turns 2022-23 performance into 2023-24 anticipation. So here are those, here: If Reg & Post Seasons Equal… My 22-23 NBA MVPlayers: 1. Jokic Kawhi Jimmy Booker Tatum 6. AD Brunson Embiid LeBron Steph* 11. Luka Giannis KD Shai Dame 16-25. Jamal Ant Trae Mitchell Harden Haliburton Ja Sabonis *Claxton DWhite AG Bam Lauri Kristaps JJJ/Zion Taking these 22-23, and rearranging them by the Best Anticipated 23-24 (which is better known as the Best Player in the World ranking, and also what I imagine is closer to your criteria/way of ranking): 1. Man I love this series. Absolutely impressive production quality and beautiful way or presenting. As for the ranking - your list does make all the sense. However I am not sure if you were taking into account "foul-trouble weakness". What I mean - is how much a ranked player sacrifices activity on the defensive end in order to stay away from the foul trouble. The idea is that for players like Jokic, LeBron, Steph (to some extent) or any other one who is in the center of the offensive/defensive mechanisms it is much more impactful to be on the floor as much as possible just to have the team going. While for the less dimensional players it is not such a big deal, because their performance doesn't affect the team performance as much. So what I am saying - it seems like that the "brain players" should be getting some cut-offs for not being too much committed as the one-on-one defenders, shot-blockers, active-handers etc. So I am curious whether you were considering this in the ranking. Besides that - huge thank you for your amazing videos.

    Kawhi is like top 10 or 15 for me but not top 5 because he is injured to death at the wrong time of the season whether it’s playoffs or not but the rest of the top 5 is fine with me.

    Solid list but if playoff equity is a major consideration not sure how Kyrie, Trae, and Ja are so high. All are well below the line for competent playoff defenders. Think overall versatility and two-way ability is more important than what they bring on offense

  • @HoopVenue

    @HoopVenue

    I don’t think Kyrie’s *that* bad defensively, for the other 2 it’s fair but I also feel they are some of few who can actually engine a championship-level offense on the ball.

    Can Ja do that though? Mem has had a bad O-rating last two playoffs and bad half court offense in the regular season. Maybe Trae can, but I’m even more skeptical on his defense holding up. Agree Kyrie might be best defender of the 3 but it’s a really low bar.

    i think having KD this far ahead of Bron doesn’t make any sense to me the majority of the time Devin Booker was the better Sun and he’s also slipping with time and injury as you pointed out but one of them is overachieving with his cast and the other if you wanna be brutally honest underachieving I feel like they should be kinda tethered if Bron is 12 KD needs to be 11/13 if KD top 5 bron 4/6. Also having Kawhi still your top 5 even tho you were tossing out injuries is just kinda ridiculous when he’s missed an entire season and hasn’t played 60 games since 2018 hasn’t carried a playoff push in 2 and was outplayed by a guy you have below him in said series with a lesser team. Like i get the when he plays logic but it’s that’s problem he never plays.

    Based of your analysis on Luka and the criticism to KD, why isn’t Luka higher? Is the defensive gap that wide for you?

  • @HoopVenue

    @HoopVenue

    It’s both the defensive gap and how I feel they’d fit in with higher-end offensive talent, think KD brings so much more team building flexibility.

    I also have that idea like some others there that Booker should be little bit higher because of this year play-off run. Probably if you have Jokic in your team booker would be perfect second option. Maybe he is player which you can fit easiest in the roster of most NBA teams, he is good spacer, and off ball player. It is much harder to put LeBron like second option, he is too much ball dominant player (maybe he is little bit overrated - most of the people would give him 7th or 8th spot, but you did not put him to high)

    Yeah I’m actually in this weird spot we’re I think Jokic is the best player at this very moment but I actually have Giannis 1 spot higher on my all time list as they have the same amount of main accolades except for Giannis having 2 DPOYs and I do think Giannis 2021 run stacks up very evenly with what we just witnessed Jokic do I do think Jokic is step up much better for the future and do think he’ll probably be higher on my all time list when both of there careers are over but we shall see really hope we at least get 1 finals match up between them 🙏

    Having Leonard that high is insane; he is never available and when the best ability is availability the amount of load managing he does eliminates him from the top 10. The health list is much more realistic.

    Im sorry but giannis has proven his limitations (especially his choppy passes and lack of decision making in the playoffs) and shown that he can not completely carry a team. Curry dragged his team while giannis got taken down in the first round. Obviously still top 3 but Idk about over curry with how much curry elevates his team while we see giannis’ team able to win without him. I love embid but honestly I agree with the ranking. Finally, im guessing this list is more pure skill cause kawhai doesnt play enough in my humble opinion

    New sub loved this series. As a mavs fan I may be biased but I think Luka in the playoffs is just way too good to be left off the top 5. his defense is not as bad as everyone says. his main weakness is Fatigue which then leads to basically 0 off ball value. Regardless I think his impact is just simply unmatched other than a handful of players. Not KD though, which is why I think luka should be top 5.

    How are KD and Kawhi 4 & 5 when they have produced in the playoffs in years? Who cares what they can do it's about what you actually do that matters. You are basing their rankings about what they did but not what they do overall. Good series overall but but those 2 rankings and Trae were off the mark.
