Also, little known fact, the Traptanium Portal can work with every single game due to it having all the elements of the games thanks to the backwards compatability of the figures. It has the trap slot which is thankfully still useable in the last 2 games Imaginators and Superchargers, it has the programing for the swapers (unlike the original portal) and has all of the needed compatability to work with every game. And i've tested it with all 6 games for a fact.

I Love that they made Swap force portal slimer than the Giants portal.

The Imaginators Rift Engine Portal is a weird one. The actual Rift Engine part is identical in every way to the one in SuperChargers, including the trap slot and trap loading chips. The trap slot is just hidden underneath the new panel across the top. If you wanted to, you could take the chips out of the engine and make your own custom trap loader.

​@@Portalmaster9351 I always assumed it does, since the chips are identical to the original ones, but I hadn't actually tested it before, since the slot itself isn't really accessible due to the welded-on panel covering the slot. But, now that it has been questioned, my curiosity demanded that I do the proper testing. In previous testing (with the original Rfit Engine Portal), I've learned that the Engine (with the Portal motherboard removed, leaving only the trap chips inside) can be placed on top of any Portal like a standard figure and still function as a trap loader. WIth that in mind, I had an idea of how to perform the new test. Since the top half is covered, and I haven't detached the top chip from the engine piece (it's possible, but risky), I placed it upside-down on top of a separate portal, and inserted my Kaos trap in the loose bottom chip. Usually, you'd insert it into the top chip, sending its signal to the bottom one, but the chips are identical, and thus function just as well in reverse. Result of the test: It registered just fine, exactly as expected.

@@Portalmaster9351 the trap slot does work, but I've only seen it in Superchargers Racing. All it really does is boost the stats for the drivers and racers.

@@XtrlDex I mean, you can cut it off if you have a tool that can cut through hard plastic, but it won't be pretty.

The Spyro’s adventure Portal is my favorite. It looks the most like a portal to me and it just leaves so much nostalgia for me. It’s when I saw the magic of toys to life.

It's so rugged that to me, it is the best portal. A portal created in what really were medieval ages seemingly should be rough, not refined.

personally, id rank the og spyros adventure portal the lowest since it ate batteries for breakfast and it was a pain to constantly replace them, once i got giants i never used the OG portal again. I saved so many batteries by doing so

I'm going to go with the Trap Team portal followed closely by the Spyro's Adventure/Giants Portal. They are close together in terms of cool design but what gives Trap Team the edge is the Trap Slot and the speaker for Kaos to break the fourth wall XD

I have a special giants portal where the whole portal lights up, and glows in the dark. It came with the glow in the dark cynder starter pack.

I love the traptanium portal design! Its definitely the prettiest looking in my opinion. I also like the rift engine (not design-wise) because its compatable with every console and every game.

That’s cool I didn’t know it was different for dark edition. That’s what I got!

Also, something easy to miss is that the traptainiom portal is future proofed where if you use it in superchargers, land vehicles make it glow brown, sea vehicles make it glow blue, and sky vehicles make it glow light blue (or land makes it glow like earth, sea makes it glow like water, and sky makes it glow like air)

This guys background was my dream as a child

I've tested around with the portals a bit and found out that the older portals from Spyro's Adventure and Giants can actually scan Swap Force characters, despite what Activision claimed, but this only works in Superchargers or Imaginators. However, when I tried using 3DS portal with these games, they had a bit of trouble scannig the Swap Force characters. So my guess is that the claims that Activision made are partially true and the Swap Force game was simply coded to not allow the use the older portals, whereas Trap Team can't be said much since it required their portal for the traps and the speaker

trap team is the best portal to me because not only is it the coolest looking but it also has the trap compartment (yes so does the super chargers one but the tt one is cooler looking 😂)

My personal favourite is the swap force / imaginators portal, because it is kinda classic, but it also has a nice modern twist too.

Trap Team had the best portal, then Spyro's Adventure/Giants comes 2nd, then Swap Force/Imaginators is 4th, and then Superchargers had the worst portal

I have to agree with your list. Although with the Rift Engine portal lack in lights and a trap speaker, it is rather versatile for travelling. As for my portals I use my Trap Team one every time I play Skylanders on my PS3, my Trap Team is a night light to put my light and Imaginator cores on as a night light for my PC while my original Spyro's Adventure portal it sits in the bottom of my Skylanders tower.

I totally agree that the trap team portal is the coolest! And I think it would be really cool if you ranked the Skylanders games.

Ive always liked the portal from trapteam portal from the ds version. Its rly cool for displaying figures

You should do more ranking videos, such as ranking all the swappers, trap masters, swap force cores, giants, etc.

For those who haven't played Trap Team, massive spoiler.... Let's not forget in Chapter 18 when Kaos interacts with you, the portal master, he does so through that Traptanium Portal speaker and even today, the shock of Kaos' interaction with still hits

The trap team and supercharger portals work on every game (where older ones don't), and have trap slots. I also have a wireless one which is nice to avoid having a cord, but it only works on old games, and eats batteries like crazy.

I love the trap team and swap force portals I have played Skylanders since I was four and I'm thirteen now but the game has stole my heart and the portals for spyros adventure swap force and trap team always made me so happy

Now, personally, i'm not a Fan of Skylanders, so i honesty don't care. However, if you think the "Toys to Life" genre (in general) is awesome, then that's great. More power to you! And i'm glad that you can enjoy something that i'm unable to. But still, fun video, man. Keep up the good work.

if i remember correctly. the spyros adventure portal was bettery powered. it wasnt until giants that we got usb portals. that was a real step up.

My Fav portal is the superchargers Portal because its not so in your face like the others , It blends in well to the surroundings its put in.

I hate the superchargers one, and love the trap team portal bc it's just magical, and then all these different feeling hit u, like nostalgia, and a Disney Land type vibe, so that's why I love trap team portal.

Supercharges is the best one because of how much space you have and the ability to put traps in the portal.

I hope when they remaster the original Skylander game you can use all your Skylanders from the previous game and give us the ability to jump

That would be cool!

1. SSA/Giants It looks old timey, looks most like a portal and the way it changes color looks really nice. 2. Trap Team It looks beautiful, with it’s front, the traptanium area where you place the Skylanders but it doesn’t look like as much as a portal than the SSA and Giants portal. 3. Swap Force/Imaginators I don’t like how sides go into place where you place the toys, I like how SSA and Giants pop out. 4. Superchargers It’s just boring.

I mean, someone has to be honest, it would be cool if you were able to use any of the portals you own in a future skylanders game

There was actually a translucent Giants portal released only at Walmart (I think) which came with glow in the dark series 2 cynder

My favorite part about the Traptanium Portal is that it can actually be used in all 6 "Skylanders" games, at least to my knowledge because I play all the games on my Wii U.

also the trap team portal can light up 2 colors at once while the others cant. its the left and right sides. also the previous portals can recognize the swap force characters. prob made it since the game got a massive overhaul

my ranking 6 - European Imaginators 5 - SuperChargers 4 - Swap Force (the figures fall off way to easy) 3 - Spyro's Adventure 2 - Giants (i rather have a cable, then light up sides (which i only noticed do to this video)) 1 - Trap Team

My favorite portal would either have to be the the Giants portal or the trap team portal the Giants portal sounds like a weird pick but it's mostly for nostalgia see Giants was the first Skylanders game I ever played

I don’t really have a favourite, but I gotta agree with you on the superchargers portal. It just doesn’t really feel magical and doesn’t fit in with the other portals, and the lack of lighting makes it even worse.

Well in design then trap team. But the way it shows them on screen when they do there catch phrase, then swap force.

I definitely agree with everything but I would place the spyros adventure in 2nd and the swap force in 3rd

Is it true if you have the xbox 360 or ONE imaginators portal that you can use it on older Skylanders games for the same 360 or ONE console games except for Trap Team?

For me, i agree for the rift engine portals, but the next up would be the swapforce portal, why? To me, while for utility use, it is great, but looks, it isn't much appealing to me as it is lacking in mahic power, next up would be the giants and battle grounds for the same reasons you put, then comes the mobile trap team portal, because it's looks are very interesting and unique, the next would be the spyros adventure one, because it is the original one and it takes on that partly medieval look, msking it the most magical and the most classical, plus the glowing runes add to this a lot, finally the traptanium portal bc it is just that awesome.

Imo i do think that the traptanium portal is the best because it works in any game but you have to take the traps out for the first three games

yeah we all know that Trap Team has best portal, but Imaginators made me kinda sad. they didn't make a new one, just nerfed version of superchargers. They could've gone with an imaginite portal, with the imaginite crystals and stuff. But they didn't which is very dissapointing

The Spyro's adventure one is just the best. It's iconic. Although design wise i quite like trap team.

I prefer a lot more the spyro’s adventures portal because in comes with a usb so you didn’t have to have a long cable from your console to the table

There's just something really cool about the Giants and Spyro's Adventure portal that really makes it look cool

I'm trying to find a decent priced trap team portal cuz I haven't played my fave Skylander game in 4 years

I remember when I was little I got a glow-in-the-dark cynder but I made a whole fit about it not looking like the way it does in the game so now me no have glowinthedarkcynder

What about the skyLanders giant 3ds portal? That's my personal favorite.

i have the xb1 swap force portal. And can someone tell me. Will it only light up when plugged into xb1? Will it light up from just plugging the usb connector to any electronic device that has a usb port? I do not have an xbox 1 but want to see if the lights work. So far i plug it into my computer usb port and no light. Thanks!!

@@andi-ud1jh yes. All the legendaries, dark spyro, sidekicks and magic items too. Sounds like alot but i was able to get most figures for 99 cents to 5 bucks. Wham Shell and Whisper Elf were the only ones that costed about the same as release.

I own all the portals acceptance mobile one my favorite portal is the Swap Force I'm only nine Skyliners a way of completing my collection and I'm saving mine to play with my kids when they get older

I got the 504th copy of the spyros adventure portal of power

The mobile game portal came with my Super Chargers so I could play it on my IPad It was really cool and it’s a shame I spend so much money on Super Chargers since they removed the app from the AppStore making everything useless for me

If have to agree that the Trap Team Portal is best . I do however like the size of the Superchargers portal if you have vehicles

So I think I know the answer, but could I use any portal after swap force on Skylanders swapforce? I got a portal off of Amazon for $100 and the person lied and said it was a 360 portal. Edit: I resolved the issue, I returned the portal and game and bought an imaginator’s portal a few days after I made this comment.

I am looking for portals to buy on eBay and want one for Skylanders Giants in Xbox 360. A seller has 2 portals, a Giant’s for ps3 and a Traptanium for wii. Are these compatible with Xbox 360? The seller has no idea. Please help?

Yeah, but make sure the portal is compatible for the correct system. I say get the trap team bc any portal that you get for the system will work for all games up to Imaginators.

I only ever used the trap team one.
