Did you know that the Victorians were mean af? Cause they were. No one could serve an insult like a Victorian housewife (this is my hill, and I will die on it.) And while we live in an era of sugary-sweet valentine's day cards and candy, during the 19th and early 20th century there was a trend for mean Valentine's Day cards, commonly referred to as Vinegar Valentines today, that served different degrees of burns, from the "ha-ha" to the face scorching (and some so awful we refused to share them, ngl). Today, Chrissy, ‪@NicoleRudolph‬, and I will rank some Victorian Valentine's Day cards on how funny and mean they are. Things get...weird. I hope you're ready...
oh, and btw, please don't ask me what a bratty bottom is...

I seem to recall most Victorian authors would have been insulted to have their works referred to as 'novels'. Not because of the smutty nature, just because they didn't have a foundation in reality or some big, obvious moral to teach you, so they were seen as a waste of the reader's time, and the printer's resources.

@@ML-fw6yh That bugs me every time, I hear it. Like, how does that work? How would a Therapist have the time and energy and focus, to deal with you outside of an allotted appointment? Kinda reminds me of my dating experiences lately. Like: 'Dude, just because we exchanged numbers and I agreed to meet you for a drink next Friday, does not mean, I want to be bombarded with messages all day till then. Especially not at 5:30 in the morning'. True story. I've had to tell men, to NOT contact me before 7:00 am or after 10 pm, because apparently that's not a given anymore, these days. Just because you can disable ringtones/notifications, does not mean it's ok, to contact a complete stranger during the night - it means you have a serious lack of respect for other people's boundaries. Even with a dedicated work phone and all that ...I can't imagine the therapists not being burned out and highly resentful towards endlessly needy patients, who abuse that system.

There was a whooole thing in the late 18th century and onward about how terrible it was for women to read novels. That women couldn't differentiate between fantasy and reality. A character in Madame Bovary was especially called out over it. I don't think "bluestockings" were so much novel readers as just readers in general. An article describes the "novel reading panic in 18th century England". Lol.

they were *SO* savage back in the day. I've also been collecting insults and general savagery from ladies magazines too because they just have me screaming. (Literally there's a whole short story in one and it's 100% about how the young daughter is ugly...and there's no moral tale or how she found "inner beauty"... no. The Title: "THE UGLY DAUGHTER" The plot: Everyone telling her she's ugly and no one wants to play with her. 🤷🏻‍♀️) ...it really explains *a lot* about the layers of trauma the last few generations have been dealing with and overcoming cause...wow...

Hi from Lizton, Indiana ladies! Oh, this video is hilarious, The three of you are like the 3 main ingredients to making up mischief! I had no idea that cards like these ever existed and I thought the pickle card it got for my birthday was bad. Abby, welcome back home to Indiana!

13:54 To this day, I can't not get a little shooketh when people from the U.S. talk about high school students driving. Here in Brazil, you can only apply for a driver's licence at 18 years old, and you wouldn't have your own car till you've been working some years in a job, because cars are not cheap here as they are in the U.S.
